1. "go to View → Layout and disable "Automatically hide the tab bar", Latest Tb's version
does not have that option in View / Layout... . it's in settings/general & this method
forces the tab to remain active just to show your 3 buttons. & i don't use spam nor
have this folder nor need it in unified mode. it's invasive, 3 buttons plus an ugly
tab button & 2 icon bars..... .
2. "The WebExtension API for Thunderbird only allows a single browser_action button — one icon, one popup"
Noone forces you to use a popup. You can simply just leave this button in the menubar:
Empty Trash, Without popup (cause popups there aren't obliged) & make users change it,
in the Addon options .. . that will be changed at restart if they prefer the Empty Trash and spam
buton & vice versa .. .
3. the references in Tools menu is simply another methd of yours to make things complicated,
by moving from a one step click to several clicks, totally useless Field .. .

Hi. To clarify a few things:
Thunderbird's current API limitations make what you're describing impossible to implement natively. Unlike Firefox, Thunderbird does not provide any standard API to add standalone, always-visible toolbar buttons directly to the main interface. The WebExtension API for Thunderbird only allows a single browser_action button — one icon, one popup. That's it. There is no supported way to register multiple independent toolbar buttons through the standard API.
The Experiment API used in this extension is the official Mozilla-sanctioned workaround for exactly this gap: it injects 3 one-click buttons (Empty Trash / Empty Spam / Empty Both) directly into Thunderbird's toolbar at startup — no popup needed, no clicks to get there. This is not a design choice, it's the only viable path given what Thunderbird exposes to add-on developers today.
To make the toolbar buttons always visible, you need to do one thing: go to View → Layout and disable "Automatically hide the tab bar". When that option is active, Thunderbird hides the toolbar row where the buttons are injected, making them invisible. Turn it off and the 3 buttons will appear permanently in the main toolbar from that point on.
If for any reason you prefer not to change that setting, the actions are also accessible via: right-click on the folder pane, the Tools menu, and keyboard shortcuts (Ctrl+Shift+Delete / Ctrl+Shift+J / Ctrl+Shift+B).
The update was valid. The limitation is Thunderbird's, not the extension's.

Major issue, you tried to incorporate one click buttons but on the wrong windows.. they only appear when people stupidly open the extension page.. . they should be accessible in the main gui of thunderbird .. . & customizable eventually from there..
I don't know why you validated that update lol

*BUG* (The pipe)
Hi Oleksandr & Dugite-Code,
lookout+ generates bugs in filtaquilla extension.
it turns the "Sender:" argument into "From:"
Personally, i prefer from, cause it's how it's presented
in the mime field, but the major bug, that appears in
filtaquilla which requires a fix, is that all my filtaquilla based
regex filters in thunderbird, now only work if i add
a pipe symbol (vertical line) at the end of
my regular expressions.
Please fix that.

Again, the latest tb update doesn't need your addon to even hide email account folders, and i don't give a toss about your radical negativism.

1) your addon isn't needed in order to have all trailing folders hidden using unified view, it's probably an internal
ability of the actual tb's version.
2) i wish u could work on hiding junk and archive folders but
you did nothing about it.

At the moment Mail Redirect is not yet compatible with Thunderbird 78.*. I'm still working on a new version that works with Thunderbird 78.*. If you depend on this functionality, please don't upgrade to Thunderbird 78, but stay on version 68 and disable updates, until a compatible version of Mail Redirect is released. A year & half ago..... .
but he's still working on the update, right ? when it'd take 1 or 2 days for another programmer to fix it.
The simple answer is: He doesn't seem to care, in all reality, & maybe updating the project by another programer & make it a mod could be a possible option. & actually, they're 2 on the project & none of them updated it..

Author won't fix it through script pretending it's a tb's issue.
why this addon's useless:
3 steps with addon:
1. click on xpunge button
2. the number of deleted emails doesn't disappear, so you need to click on trash again (he won't fix it)
3. click on inbox again.
without addon:
1. click on trash
2. ctrl+A & del button
3. move back to inbox.

An option to hide "any" blue accounts would be nice too. I use the unified version of folders view,
so every emails from any accounts arrive in the "black iconed" inbox.
