如果在Ubuntu下使用，输入中文，搜索时会出现乱码，原因是插件用了UTF-8编码格式而百度用的不是这个。
解决方法：
1，打开Terminal。
2，输入vi .mozilla/firefox/091uysqq.default/searchplugins/baidu.xml
回车打开配置文件。
3，将字符串“UTF-8”改成"GBK"。
4，重启firefox就没问题了。

Baidu is the preeminent Chinese language search engine. Although Google Chinese works very, Baidu sometimes yield different, more China-centric results, which can be helpful depending on what you are looking for.

please to reference IE 8 Beta's implementation. to add a search engine, user just need copy a specific URL to add-on manager. but fireFox is not.
in fireFox, Users can't add their prefer add-on freely, user is required to login, just for this kind of little thing. the worse, the experimental baidu add-on show us malformed characters, when searching Chinese key words. this really a stupid limitation which waster my time to register and try the so call experimental add-on.....
other problem of firefox:
- don't support Powerword
- can't display some conference page properly
- no popup menu item to download attachment directly. the download window is boring and potentially expose privacy info.

advantages of firefox:
- display page faster than ie
- quick search in current page
- almost all tools bars can be removed freely
- good format when printing
- easily take over settings from IE
- embeded in OS deeply
....

用文本编辑器打开如下文件
C:\Documents and Settings\用户名\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\2wx9yqim.default(可能会因人而异)\search.json
找到baidu的那一段，将相应的字符串改成这样
"_urls":[{"template":"http://www.baidu.com/s?ie=utf-8&wd={searchTerms}","params":[]}]
添加了的就是ie=utf-8&这几个字符
