Thank you very much. I was considering dropping back to TB2, TB3 without this is at the best annoying. After I installed it and restarted TB, there was a smile on my face to see the columns resturn :-) !

I just(Jan 24, 2010) downloaded this after searching high and low for the missing columns in TB3. It installed smoothly and flawlessly without issue #1. Now my folder columns are back in place exactly as they were in TB2. Something Mozilla should have left intact initially. But Moz still rules so one should consider this TB3 omission as a minor oversight that was quickly corrected by this add-on's author.

Seems to do the job nicely.
One small installation quirk on Windows XP: after installation of the add-on, you are prompted to restart Thunderbird by clicking a restart button. This closes the Thunderbird window but does not kill the process, so Thunderbird does not appear to restart. After clicking the restart button, you need to kill the thunderbird.exe process using Windows Task Manager, then start Thunderbird manually. Don't know whether this is an issue with this add-on or with Thunderbird generally.

Only 3 stars. 2 features vital bugs, compared with TB2 version. No bold for unread messages, and columns do not line up below headers.
Why was this function not built into TB3. I run multiple accounts, both POP3 & IMAP, and need to quickly see how full my in-boxes get. This was the first add-on I checked whenever I did an update.

is there a support location for this add-on? i looked over at mozillazine's extension forum here ...

Renders Thunderbird almost unusable with several accounts due to the effect sleepyalf describes. A pity, since it would be very nice otherwise

Thank you! I was looking for the way to put TB2 folders columns in TB3.
BTW... is it possible to add the 3 words (unread, total and size) in addon options to make them editables?
Then the addon will be multi-language...

would have been 4 or 5 stars except
- causes a cosmetic issue with smart folders when you have >1 email account. Normally when View/Folders/Smart is on you see one Inbox with sub-inboxes labelled with the names of each account. When this add-on is enabled these sub-inboxes are all called 'Inbox'. Same issue with Junk and Deleted. The issue seems purely costmetic

The column numbers need to be bold for folders that have unread messages. Only reason this isn't 5-stars.

Thank you for restoring something that I consider an essential "good housekeeping" tool. Why they dropped this option from the official release is baffling, to put it mildly.

Thanks, Joey, your version 0.4 worked like a charm! The "Unread" and "Total" columns in TB 3.0 appear exactly as they should, great job! (Windows Vista, Home Premium)

No issues with smart folders anymore in patched version!

Only one small issue: I can confirm display of 4KB for local folder. I hope this useful extension will bei updated soon. Only 4 stars because of the useful patch, which is not "official" yet.

Ah! At last I am able to keep track of how many messages are in each folder. Thanks to Joey Minta, and shame on Thunderbird for removing this handy and necessary feature.

Why was this important feature removed from 3.0? A very necessary extension.

Confirm breaking of account names in smart folders (v0.4)
For GERMAN users - there is a patched version (thx to Colin Guthrie) for TB 3 with working account names at smart folders and german columns heading. Download here:

OTHER LANGUAGES: Edit column headers in "overlay.xul" to your own language.
Remark: Use at your own risk. It's a temporariliy workaround until this great 5 star extension will be updated again. I don't want to anger the author Joey Minta, there is no competetion.
