Most definently the best Thunderbird add-on. Should be built in together with Lightning to provide a full-feature email-suite. Thank you for making online life easier!

Same problem as cvalanc with Tbd 12.0.1 and Zindus 0.8.38:
404 errors when connecting a second time (=> need to clean cookies each time)

I have been using 0.8.38 with thunderbird 11. Periodically, the sync script pops up a box saying it stopped responding. This seems to happen after contact changes were made on the google side. After a few restarts, everything is ok again. I am syncing the addresses as xml.
I see there is a 0.8.40 version on the zindus website but am reluctant to try it since it has not been accepted by the mozilla add-on search. Also, cannot find release notes for 0.8.40
Overall though, the syncing is doing what I need so I can maintain my contacts on both ipad gmail and thunderbird.

Downloads only few fields for every contact: only one telephone number, no first name and no last name (only display name).
Maybe it works with zimbra perfectly, but with Google doesn't work.

Avec Thunderbird 10.0 avec Zindus 0.8.38, sous Windows XP SP3, la synchronisation avec "zimbra.free.fr" ne fonctionne pas.
1) Paramétrage de Zindus

Editer le compte :

Test connexion :
Apparaît une Fenêtre "Etat de la synchronisation Zindus" contenant le message suivant :

Vérifiez votre adresse électronique et votre mot de passe en vous connectant via votre navigateur.
Veuillez également vérifier vos paramètres de proxy Thunderbird
Code d'état HTTP : 404
Si on supprime tous les cookies comme signalé par "magisvince" et "Dams", le "Test de connexion" se déroule bien :

Si je clique sur "Synchroniser maintenant", il y a échec avec le message :

Parfois, vous devez procéder à un petit « nettoyage » de votre carnet d'adresses Zimbra avant la synchronisation.
Some of your Zimbra contacts, when converted to Thunderbird format are completely empty. These contacts can't be synced.
To proceed, edit these contacts in Zimbra and give them a fake email address:

I tried the alternative 'Google Contacts' and came away screaming when it went into a loop and created 25,000 duplicate contacts in gmail! That took almost all day to clear out since gmail only allows 250 contacts to be deleted at once. Zindus installed with no effort and easily downloaded all my gmail contacts. One small issue was solved with the help of the Mozilla Messaging forum. Since gmail has only one combined name field, names are imported into the 'Display Name' field and the first and last name fields are left blank. At first the Address Book listing had no names at all showing. Then I learned that the menu pick 'View/Show Name As/Display Name' fixes that. Now everything looks great.

ok the first one that i've found that works somehow...
just i've found some incompleteness with the image of the contact ( not a big deal this one) but instead i've fealt the loss of all of the job setting info, and also the address infos..
i'm sorry for my worst eng.. i've just wrote 'em down because i'll feel that this testing should come in handy for the one that have programmed!! (please don't hate me ^.^")

Once you figure out how to set it up, it's downright magical in synchronizing your contacts from Thunderbird to Zimbra and back again. However, the problem is it has a severe performance issue that causes big problems. On a regular basis it will sync in the background apparently, but even though there are no changes it throttles the CPU use driving Thunderbird to over 100% CPU for about a minute. During this type the application is largely unresponsive, and if you happen to be trying to type an email, you just have to stop and wait. If the app also tries to autosave the draft of the email while this is happening, there is a good chance it will fail, and even corrupt your Drafts folder which then corrupts your entire email setup. Recovery from that is not easy, so I would say this extension is pre-beta given the magnitude of the bug and risk involved in using it. Proceed with caution!

Fantastic add on, really useful to be able to sort contacts from Google.
Just one minor thing - I use a netbook and when editing an acount the bottom half of the options menu isn't visible as there is no way to scroll down - not a problem for me at the moment as I don't need to change the options that aren't visible yet...

Zindus 0.8.38 now works just fine with Thunderbird 7.01. I use it with 2 Google accounts simultaneously. Congratulations !!

I've enjoyed Zindus for several years. Now I am forced to hold off on the TB update to v7.x because of the incompatibility issue with your product. Can you give us an ETA on a fix??

Works reliably to keep my 4 gmail contacts list in sync, truly incredible.
I have 3 Gapps accounts and one standard Gmail account, they all work great.
Question: TBird just upgraded to version 7 Zindus incompatible, how do I get around this?

I'm using this to sync with Google Apps for Business. Not a single problem ever.

Zaphod is an idiot. He apparently didn't read the guide before installation and using the application. The installation steps Clearly, i repeat very clearly states that in that particular circumstance, your contacts will be deleted and resynced. They also advised you to back up your contacts. Better be safe than sorry. READ before you post.

This piece of cr*p has deleted all contacts from my gmail account during "sync", no warning !!!I don't know what happened, but be careful with this add-on and backup all your contacts before use !!!
UPDATE: Thankfully gmail has an option to recover previous contact status (everything including groups which was not in my backup) to any minute you choose back up to 30 days. Kudos Google!!!
zaphod, the addon has many many users and there are no outstanding bug reports that would explain what happened to you.

Tip for free.fr users:
problem : when a new version is released, zindus can no more connect to http://zimbra.free.fr/
answer: clear cookies, and reconnect
