I use Mozilla Thunderbird 24.5.0.
Function "Send Later" was necessary.
IMHO developers Mozilla Thunderbird
it is necessary to add this possibility.
By means of "Send Later 4.2.3" I have solved this problem.
All works perfectly. Five stars from me

is great, but CMD + SHIFT + RETURN (in Mac is command, not control), is hard to remember and not very usable... an icon on the message menu would be great.
Thanks and keep up the great work,
JB

Thank you to the developer because this add-on is mandatory for my life. I routinely write messages at 2AM to be sent out during "normal business hours" later that day. I would need to stop using T-Bird if this extension were not available. Frankly I don't know what I would do because no other email client does what I need (Gmail isn't an option).
I haven't had any issues regarding "spamming" or multiple sends. I will update this review if I do. I only have SendLater check the drafts box every 10 or so minutes, however -- not every minute. I don't need to specify the exact time that emails need to be sent. Perhaps changing that default value might help?
I ran T-bird 2.0 for years, then two years ago switched to 3.1, and only a week ago switched to the latest version. I am wary of "upgrades" because my email system needs to be absolutely bomb-proof or I stand to lose a great deal of money. I used the Mail Tweaks "Defer" add-on for years which worked fine, but this seems to have more options and I'm looking forward to integrating it into my business and my life.

This is something that simply works and works well! Just some improvements needed in the interface, but nothing really important. Donate! It deserves it! I did it :)

hi,send later don't send "Disposition-Notification-To"and alsoReporting-MTA: dns
I mean that
in these case i ask for reporting ok
when send later is activate i don't have the "reporting mta"
when it is desactivate i have the message
like this :
Reporting-MTA: dns; .....................org
Arrival-Date: Mon, 17 Dec 2012 08:06:21 +0100
Original-Envelope-Id: <50CEC44F.2000801@.........................
Original-Recipient: .............@....................
Final-Recipient: rfc822;...........@.................
Action: relayed
Status: 2.0.0
Remote-MTA: smtp..............
i see nothing in the user guide about this.
a bug ?
There is a workaround in the user guide at http://blog.kamens.us/send-later/#receipt for the Disposition-Notification-To issue.I'm afraid I don't understand what you mean when you say that the add-on does not support "Reporting-MTA: dns".
As far as I know, "Reporting-MTA" is a header inserted into bounces by mail transfer agents, not one that is meaningful when inserted into a message by a mail client like Thunderbird. Could you clarify?
UPDATE: Aha, I think I understand now. You mentioned "Reporting-MTA: dns" because it is what is inserted into the return receipts you get when you specify Disposition-Notification-To. In that case, my answer above still applies -- please use the workaround in the user guide if you want return receipts for messages sent with Send Later.

Nützlich, so lange TB auch zur Sendezeit an ist. ;-) Schön wäre eine Möglichkeit, als Sendezeit einzutragen: "Beim Schließen von TB".

This extension used to work great for its intended purpose. Actually, it still does. But lately the extension has started displaying announcements in Thunderbird every time the extension is updated. There is, as far as I can tell, no way to turn off the display of these announcements.
Making matters worse, the announcements invariably include a plea for monetary donations. I fully understand that the software is being provided for free and the author has every right to ask for donations. On the other hand, I have every right to stop using the software, for any reason or even for no reason at all. I have in fact stopped using this extension, because the unpleasant forced advertising outweighs the benefits of the software.
The author should seriously consider removing the forcible display of announcements with each new version update. I cannot see how this behavior is user-friendly in any sense of the term.
EDIT 2012-12-06: Thanks for the response. Let me clarify that the solicitations are a minor issue next to the announcement spam. They are just the straw that broke the camel's back. Certainly reducing the frequency with which release notes are displayed would be an improvement. I have improved my rating based on your doing that.
I do not think that my position is unreasonable. I have upwards of 4000 software packages installed on my computer. On average maybe 5 of them update in a given day. I certainly do not feel like I need to see all the release notes for all my installed software every time they update. All I need is the ability to access the release notes when desired. You say that other extensions do this too, to which I have two replies. First is that the other extensions are wrong as well, and the second is that they often include a way to disable the display of release notes (for example NoScript has a checkbox for this in its preferences pane).
I am not writing this review to save myself any effort. Obviously I could have just uninstalled your extension and continued on with my life. I want to help you improve your software, which is in all other respects excellent, and this is why I take the time to review. I don't think it is in any way unreasonable to allow users to choose whether to see release notes every time or not.
The release notes display with every release because every release contains new functionality that users need to be informed about. Most of the good Firefox and Thunderbird plugins I use display release notes with each release.
However, based on your feedback, it occurs to me that it would be a good idea for me to distinguish between functionality releases which require release notes to be displayed and minor releases which do not. For example, the release that just came out, with a new translation and an updated date-parsing library, probably did not need release notes to be displayed. I have implemented this for the next release of the add-on.
Every add-on that I use that displays release notes has a request for donations on the release notes page. Whether you donate or not is completely up to you; the add-on is free and will remain that way.
The add-on does everything _I_ need it to do and has for quite a while. If I were only maintaining it for myself, then I'd stop spending any time on it and get on with my life. I continue to develop it to benefit its >26,000 users, and I don't see anything wrong with asking those users to send a few bucks my way if they are so inclined. Frankly, I think the offense you take at this is disproportionate and unreasonable.
UPDATE: It was not your comments about the frequency of displaying the release notes that I found unreasonable; it was your comments criticizing the fact that I ask for donations.

Good and useful add-on.To get the 5th star ;-) just one little suggestion :When I send a mail without subject, ThunderBird asks "without subject ? Are you sure ?". Then the panel of "Send Later" appears and if I answser "send now", Thunderbird asks A SECOND TIME "without subject ? Are you sure ?"It's a little ...boring.Another remark :In general options, I chose "replace send button by send later button", but the button remains "send"Yet, in an older version, it was ok....Thank You !(Send Later v 4.1.4 (french version) with ThunderBird v 16.0.2).
Reply to jikamens (Nov 17) :
=====================
I found my button with the label "send later" in this new version also :
It's when you customize the toolbar of "new message" window. You can even have others buttons with labels "15 mn later" , "2 hours later" ...
In the end, the use is easier than to check the option "'replace send button by send later button'.
"When I send a mail without subject, Thunderbird asks 'without subject ? Are you sure ?'. Then the panel of 'Send Later' appears and if I answer 'send now', Thunderbird asks A SECOND TIME 'without subject ? Are you sure ?'"
Unfortunately, the architecture of Thunderbird and how Send Later integrates with it makes it impossible for me to fix this. I don't mean to be snarky, but a reasonable work around is "Don't do that." There's a reason why Thunderbird discourages you from sending messages with empty Subject lines, after all...
"In general options, I chose 'replace send button by send later button', but the button remains 'send'
Yet, in an older version, it was ok...."
I'm not sure what you mean about it being ok in an older version. There has _never_ in Send Later been an option to replace the Send button with a button that says "Send Later". What that preference does is causes the Send button to _behave_ like "Send Later", i.e., it causes the Send Later window to pop up, but the label on the button does not change and never has.

This may not be a send later problem, but I am getting duplicated emails being sent. Thunderbird version 16.0.1, Send Later 4.0.7.
Further testing - if I send immediately, all is well. Send Later, I get a duplicate.
Ideas?
Has always been great.
This is fixed in version 4.1.2 of the add-on. You can download and install it from https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/send-later-3/versions/4.1.2 if you don't want to wait to be updated automatically (which will probably take at least another week, for the editors of the site to approve the new version).

This add-on works well with me thanks to the regular updates.
As international sales, i need to consider timing when sending my email. This get them more effective and allow me to not forget sending an email a week or month later to remind customers and partners.
Trying it is adopting it.

Fantastic add-on. Thank you for making this great add-on. I'm more of a night person and email some business associates then which doesn't always look good. I use the plugin to send my email early in the morning instead. A well deserved donation is on its way to you.

I recently upgraded to the latest version to find the user interface has changed with the drop downs missing. There is no way to revert this change except to uninstall the upgraded version and downgrade to a previous working version.
DO NOT UPGRADE!
Edit: Everything below added after the developer reply.
Thank you for returning the mouse drop down lists in version 4.0.6! I have not tested it yet, but I hope I can just disable the text input entirely. The rating/review above is for version 4.0.4 *without* the mouse drop down lists and I stand by the one star review because there was a significant interface change without an option to disable it.
For anyone else that just doesn't want to use any new interfaces or tweak any options, you can install the last known good version 3.3.10 from here:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/thunderbird/addon/send-later-3/versions/?page=1#version-3.3.10
You can also stop all automatic updates for addons by editing the update options:
http://blogmines.com/blog/2010/12/27/how-to-disable-automatic-check-for-updates-in-mozilla-thunderbird/
You can also edit the about:config options in Thunderbird to change extensions.update.autoUpdateDefault from true to false.
... how fast users can turn on you when you do something that irks them.
I'm sorry you don't like the free-form date/time input interface, but I hardly think that warrants a one-star review, which I, at least, reserve for software that is completely unuseable. Really? You find the add-on completely useless with the new interface? I find that surprising.
Having said that, mouse-based input is back as an option in version 4.0.6. You can upgrade manually now at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/send-later-3/versions/4.0.6 or wait a week or so until the new version is approved by the editors and you are upgraded automatically.

Great add on, was 5 stars, but the removal of the drop down options for date, time etc. has forced me back to the previous version (3.3.10). The latest version guesses wrong too often, so was worse off. Maybe having the option of drop downs or guesses would be better. Would recommend new users trying both versions, as it might just be me.
Back up to 5 stars. Entering date in MM/DD/YYYY does not work. DD/MM/YYYY does work. eg 10/25/2012 is not valid but 25/10/2012 is valid for 25th October 2012.
Thanks for the drop down option back,
MM/DD/YYYY vs. DD/MM/YYYY is dependent on your locale. MM/DD/YYYY is only used in the United States. Every other locale uses DD/MM/YYYY, or perhaps even YYYY/MM/DD. If you're in a non-U.S. locale, then you need to write your dates in the format that the locale understands. Or, to avoid ambiguity, you can use YYYY-MM-DD or spell out the date.

Works fine. If you change the "Shortcut" delay time to a custom value (15 min -> 5 min e.g.), the message is organized to be send at the right time (send time + 5 mins) but at the compose message window you see unchanged value (125 min). Could it be adjusted? Good jod, thanks!
Это отзыв для предыдущей версии этого дополнения (3.3.10).The same place that lets you edit the shortcut delay times (in the preferences) also allows you to edit the shortcut labels. The default label, "<from locale>", only works for the default values.

Work like a charm.
The mail is put into draft until sent. When it is sent, it will then put the sent message as standard in sent mail map of your client.
It will not send exactly at the minutes, because it depend on how often you let your mail check for sent and received mails. This time settings you can manage in your settings in Thunderbird.
