Nice to have an improved speed dial, especially the make-home-page option!
There's room for improvement tho, like thumbnail of last page visited in any particular site, and here's my Big Idea:
fill all unused panes with most recently visited sites.
Presently, FF makes one choose between speed dial [even your improved version] and start with-last-page option.
Be sweet if you made *both* possible!
Another problem- your change # of panes [from default 3 x 3 to, say, 4 x 4] either doesn't work or needs *some* explanation.
L: I'm having tech problems with this review [submitting it]. 4, not 1, stars should appear. And i wanted to add that while you can change sites, the images of old sites persist [so i have a pane with the image of one site that connects to another!]. Probably just [another] conflict with another extension.

Must have add-on for all of the websites you visit regularly, I love how I can make things look somewhat similar to what I had with Opera 12.16, especially things like the background image and the number of rows/size.
Biggest issue, not sure if this was fixed since the year or so I've used this add-on. is that you can close the speed dial with firegestures and if it was the last tab open, it'd close firefox. To fix this, I had to install Speed Dial [FVD] first, then delete it, this somehow fixes this issue and then install this Speed Dial, in order to prevent the last open page/dial to be closed and bringing firefox with it.

All my Speeddials are gone. I opened FF this afternoon and everything is blank, like something wiped all my personalizations. I have loved this app for quite some time and don't know what's going on.

The following are features I like in this Add-on:
- Lightweight performances (I'm using a very slow machine, and the bells and whistles in many other "dialers" kill my computer's performance)
- Intuitive interface and configuration - I was adding links and groups as soon as I launched the page
- Ability to group items - This is huge for me, as I work in two languages, and therefore have two unique sets of frequently used pages
The only feature whose absence I lament is the ability to synchronize between computers. I have a desktop in my office, a laptop I use in the field, and a laptop at home, and it would be great if I could synchronize them with the same set of links.

Firefox (v.29.0.1) hangs with Speed dial.

This can be a bit tricky to set up, but chances are if you're looking for this extension, you know what to do. Once it's set up it works and looks great.

when you are busy and you need to get to your favorite sites FAST, you too will make speed dial your home page. how simple this tool is. i've used speed dial at least 8 years straight. of course, firefox is my default browser. and yes, i DID contribute $$$ to this developer, for he has made my life computing so, so, so easy! what i do not do is muck up my experience with speed dial (because i need to use it fast and i don't have time to do what i am telling you now) by changing the way the dial "buttons" appear. i don't make them match the web site's design/colors. SPEED DIAL HAS ALWAYS BEEN, WITH LAZARUS, THE FIRST EXTENSION/ADDON I ENSURE TO KEEP UP TO DATE AS FIREFOX updates. I LOVE THIS ADDON!

The new tab page totally uses this add-on's functionality, so it's rather pointless now

It's a very good add-on. I use it for many years. Still it lacks synchronization. It would be excellent if it could be synchronized between windows firefox computers as well as between firefox, safari, opera and chrome.

Of all the addons I have, this is, for me the most important. When I have to re-install Windows or just Firefox, I do a backup of all my settings so that I can use speed-dial the way it was.

Très utile pour ceux qui aiment bien avoir un visuel de leurs favoris. Avec en plus l'option de rafraîchissement et quelques paramétrages rapides et intuitifs, on arrive assez vite à un truc efficace et bien pensé.
Après, personnellement je trouve que taper directement ce que l'on souhaite est à long terme plus efficace et plus rapide...(sauf pour quelques sites "pas trop souvent consultés mais tout de même vitaux")

I had the same quandary today, i installed speed dial but it doesnt show up if i click the + button to make a new tab. Heres what I did: 1) go to Tools on the upper left corner of your firefox browser 2) addons-speed dial-options 3) on automatic load - make sure that the "load in blank new tabs" is checked 4) click ok then restart.............youre welcome. i took my time to login and write this tip cause nobody else did. it wouldve saved my time if someone did. thanks anyway.

Yes, there are other speed dial add-ons for Firefox out there. I tried most of them and i can assure you, this is the best speed dial add-on I've ever used.
