Philipp hi, this is extremely important. Without offline support this extension doesn't worth much.
Any coming fixes?

Thank you for this Add-On, I use it since long with lightning.
Since some days I noticed that there is no entry anymore and I read here about it. I just needed to delete the google calendar in Lightning and recreate it, then I was asked to allow the Add-On to edit the Google calendar and again it worked.
It is a new system now, previously access was through the XML string in the calendar settings on google, now it is through a session string I guess.

Thanks Phillip! Your latest version has been much more stable than the previous ones you built after google changed the playing field.
My latest glitch this morning:
(read/write) events calendar on Lightning disappeared
Hovering over calendar name gave Message: "Calendar not currently available."
After a few minutes, I double clicked on it to activate and completed the automated sign-in process.
The calendar then became UNCHECKED, so had to RE-CHECK it. The calendar synced and re-appeared.
Thunderbird 31.2.0; Lightning 3.3.1, Provider 1.0.2 Windows 7

Since a long time there is absolutely no function anymore at all. Also contacting the developer made no sense.
It works again! I deleted my calendar and set it new again, and all my data is back available!

This is an absolutely cracking add-on. Other peeps have put out there just how much everyone has come to rely on it. And I mean RELY.
I know it was originally googles fault in combination with the upgrade from 0.32 to 1.0.whatever, but it really isnt working.
I have several different machines all accessing two different gmail accounts - Xubuntu laptop, lubuntu netbook and a Win7 laptop. They have all, between them, got all of these errors reported below. I cant write to the calendars (Win), I can see new appointments but not all 'old' ones esp if recurrinng (Xubuntu) etc etc. 1.0.2 has not fixed those. My Android seems to be the only thing that can see and write to everything (No TB).
PLEASE help Philip. You dont know just how usable your add-on makes our lives. Having it not working, is like trying to walk to the car with no legs !
I think the issues are only with existing installations. I suspect that a clean install works fine if you are out there looking for a great add-on. But that doesnt help the existing users who are going to loose access to all their old appointments and reminders etc . . .

Am I the last one for who it is still not working at all?
My agenda comes back sometimes, totally or partially (the worst case), and then disappears again.
Please say something. (v1.0.2, thunderbird 31.2.0 MacOS Yosemite)

I was not able to delete my calendar (i.e. as accessed by Lightning) as the delete menu option was grayed out. However, by adding a task list to the calendar, it then gave me the option of deleting the calendar, which I did: looks like a bug in Lightning. I then selected the New Calendar menu option etc and the calendar returned in Thunderbird.

I have used this add on for a long time. I'm also experiencing the same problems as many others. Google calendar not connecting, blank logon box. But I'm only having this issue with my Windows 8.1 computer. My other computer running Windows 7 is fine and works as intended. Could this latest be a problem between Provider and Windows 8.1, it seems this problem started around the same time as the last Windows update?
Update: So I have it working again and this is what I did. The problem was a blank logon screen when creating a new Google calendar. I'd uninstalled my calendar previously. So I treated the blank logon window as if it was visible. Typed in my email address then tabbed and typed in my PW. Lo and behold the box became visible and all is well. Very odd.

Five starts for historical work, 1 star for current version. I am sure the bugs will be worked out. If you really have a problem with the current edition, contribute. I am sure the authors would love to get your feedback and bug reports. I am sure they could use some help with testing. And I know they would appreciate $10 to help them keep going.

Had it for several years and has worked brilliantly. Stopped working a couple of weeks ago. Still not working. Do not know if it is a lightning problem or this program but disappointing. When it works its so useful. I have tried reinstalling etc and it even worked again for a few minutes before the calendar went blank again ie cannot seem to read the google calendar.

Gave it five stars this morning but 1 this afternoon. I thought the new version would be a permanent fix. But as soon as I close Thunderbird and reopen, it's finished....doesn't connect to Gmail calendar anymore. Uninstalled, deleted passwords, reinstalled, the whole bit....nothing works....I give up!!! Going back to managing 2 calendars again. It's a pity. this was a great add on when it worked.

The new update of provider gave some problems on installation, it appears to have struggled to include items on google calendar that were regualr and not time limited. I experienced thunderbird completely lockign up and initially did not know what to do. Discovering safe-mode allowed me to uninstall and re-install Provider after having removed the 'eternal' items from google calendar. After this, all google calendars loaded quickly and I am very happy with the results.

I was running into issues like many others with the new update. I don't know why I was running into glitches - I just couldn't see entries on my calender. I removed both Lightning and Provider and installed first Lightening 3.3.1 then Provider 1.0.2. I deleted my Google calendar and reinstalled it. (I rebooted and Adobe Flash updated too - could that be an issue as it deals with api scripts?) Then it worked.
This is the best calendar/task manager that there is.

There were rumors this was incompatible with the ThunderBirthDay add-on. Is this still true?

Phillip, THANK YOU.
A lot of folks find it really easy to leave biting, harsh criticism when something doesn't personally work the way they want it to. Very few of them will ever come back to express any shred of gratitude when it does work. And virtually none of them understand the complexity and sheer work involved in developing and then supporting a free add-on who's very functionality is dictated by the whims of Google.
I'm just speculating, but I suspect that this add-on may have started as a 2:00 am solution to a personal need. Phillip had the knowledge and skills (that the rest of us don't), created an elegant solution that solved the problem, and graciously offered it to the community for free.
Maybe it was too good of a solution, for now that hundreds of thousands of us have come to rely on it "just working," when something goes awry (i.e. Google changes how everything works), Phillip gets a firestorm of comments and demands to "fix it". It's tough not to take some of that stuff personally, folks, so be thoughtful in your message. Don't berate and belittle the person you're trying to get something from.
This add-on has become so essential that we may forget how much we're using it. Kind of like when the electricity goes out at your house and you can't work on the computer. "I'll just watch a little television until it comes back. Oh, that's right... Guess I'll listen to the radio instead. Oh, wait. Fine, I'll just turn on the light and read a book. Crap."
So, Phillip, on behalf of the silent thousands, thanks for creating such a seamless little add-on, and thanks for working double overtime to make sure it still works.

Thank you so much for the kind words! There have been a lot of "fix it" messages, some quite harsh, but in the end I really just want to see everything working. The new version has some nice improvements that I can upstream to Lightning when time comes, stay tuned for some more great code!

When it works, it's great. It seems that after a period of time, however, it can't connect to Google anymore and the only way to restore it is to exit Thunderbird and restart it.

After taking so many potshots as Philipp (and I am as guilty as anyone), we should be grateful that verson 1.0.2 seems to have solved all the earlier problems. It's free, it works and it's indispensable. Also, as most of us had not understood, the change was forced on the dev (though an explanation would have muted most criticisms). Apologies, in any case, for the earlier criticism and thanks again for having brought the add-on back up to scratch.

Hi.
If experiencing already reported erratic behaviour, uninstall first Google Provider then Lightning and reinstall them again first Lightning then Google Provider.
It repairs the erratic behaviour issue.
If the calendars don't show up while not connected to the network, then click in each in order to switch the calendar on.
You'll need to repeat this step (after switching on the calendar for the first time it shows a glimpse for a brief moments) in order to get the calendar visible again.
After the second time you switch the calendar on it should show up.
You'll need to repeat this process each time your computer goes offline.
