2 Alex FX Brackets "{" and "}" working only for "reserved words" %to% and %cc%.
Questa recensione riguarda una versione precedente (0.4.3) del componente aggiuntivo.Assegnate 4 su 5 stelle
Hi gaby_hy
When replying or forwarding an e-mail with no subject, SmartTemplate doesn't come into action. The default Thunderbird reply or forwarding headers (ugh!) are used instead. I tried to put the %subject% field in reserved brackets—"{" and "}"—but that didn't make any difference.
Hope this helps,
Alex FX
In ver0.4.3, exception occurs when no subject.
I will fix bug in next version.
And brackets working only %to...% and %cc...%.

Thanks for your quick answer. This is a great addon. We all appreciate the work you're putting into this.
The possibility of adding timezone info to %datelocal% and stripping the quotation marks from %to% and %cc would really be cool.
Would it also be possible to add an option for replies and forwards to use the timezone of the original sender?
Also, just ignore what I wrote about quoted text; I was wrong. Sorry.
Incidentally, I have no problem with the RE or FW tags in the subject line.
Alex FX
PS: Bren2010, if you want to "turn off the vertical blue line on the LHS and RHS of the quoted original message", just add the lines below to your userContent.css file:
blockquote[type=cite] {
margin-top: 0 !important;
margin-bottom: 0 !important;
border: none ! important; padding-left: 0px ! important; padding-right: 0px ! important; margin-left: 0px ! important; margin-right: 0px ! important;
}

I want to express my gratitude to the author for this excellent addition. Here You can download an updated and corrected russian translation for SmartTemplate:

I wish to express my gratitude for your cooperation.
And, I will bundle it in the next version.

Love it. I wish Thunderbird allowed built-in customisation of reply headers (or at least defaulted to inculde hte header the way Forward does). Now looking forward to find a plugin to customise Thunderbird reply-quoting (ie. turn off the vertical blue line on the LHS and RHS of the quoted original message). And the RE and FW or FWD tag in the Subject line stays there for me.

Thank you for this add-on!
How about dedicated templates for HTML / simple text ? Would it be difficult to implement? I'm using an Outlook-like header composed of lines, but it looks somewhat odd for simple text replys.

This is an excellent addon. Says what it does and does it well.
Among other things, I can already see it taking the place of the "Reset Quote Header" Extension, which was excellent but hasn't been updated in ages.
A few possible, however:
1. At present, there is no way to automatically add timezone information (e.g., -7:00 or +2:00) to the the %datelocal% setting.
2. When replying or forwarding, the original e-mail is not treated as quoted text, which means that the Thunderbird spell-checker attempts to check the spelling of the original text as well as the new text. This can be a nuisance when the original e-mail is quite long.
3. The %to% and %cc% fields automatically add quotation marks when replying or forwarding e-mails received from Microsoft applications, among others. Thus, the address becomes "Joe Bloggs" rather than Joe Bloggs . Would it be possible to strip the quotation marks?
4. The last thing is something that I miss from Eudora (that was a long time ago!): the possibility to reply or forward messages using the original sender's time zone information in the reply header. People are much more likely to relate to replies when they can easily find the orginal e-mail on their computer.
Thanks and keep up the good work!
Alex FX
Your review is useful very much!
1. I did not consider Timezone well.
I will fix a bug that %date...% is converted into the local time.
(i.e., convert it into Timezone of the sender)
2. I'm sorry. I can not understand the meaning of the problem.
When we compose with text(without HTML), the spell-checker attempts to check the spelling of the quoted text.
I think that it is TB's default.
3. It may be wrong.
The e-mails received from Microsoft applications have the quotation marks.
And, this add-on strips the quotation marks with %toname% and %ccname%.
However, Since your comment is understandable, make strip the quotation marks with %to% %cc% too.
Best Regards.

Hi there,
first of all, really nice extension with a lot of useful features, but I do have a problem, which would be a "show killer" for me.
I usually compose (as most users do and which I like much better) with a sans-serif font, but as soon as I add a template it switches to "Times" or something similar. It doesn't matter if I choose HTML-format or not in SmartTemplate.
Any ideas? Maybe a bug or afeature I don't understand?
I am using SmartTemplate 0.4.2 and TB 3.0 german.
It would be really great to keep this helpfull tool ;-)
Happy new year and best regards,
Alex
In SmartTemplate, it is necessary to input a template with texts and HTML tags.
For example,
------
<font face="Arial Black">Subject:</font> %subject%
------
Truly, I think that the WYSIWYG(like the compose-window of the TB) is good, but it is very difficult.
It will be released if I can do it.
Regards.

This extension is great !!
However, there's a little bug when the character "{" is present in subject.
Try out to reply with the template HTML below and with the field "%cc%" informed and the subject like "[info] mon sujet {02}" :
Cordialement,
Myself
-------- Message original --------
Sujet : %subject%
Date : %date%
De : %from%
Pour : %to%
{Copie à : %cc%}
Thanks for your valuable information.
The bug will be fixed at version 0.4.3.
Coming soon. Just a moment please.
Regards.

I like the ability to control the template of replies.
One suggestion: allow the user to specify where the cursor should initially be put inside the template, instead of always having the cursor start at the beginning.
Second suggestion (added 7 Jan 2010): In addition to %fromname%, can you give us a Reserved Word that returns just the first name from %fromname%? Maybe something like %fromfirstname% or %fromname_first%. Thanks!
Your idea is very interesting.
I will try it. But it is very difficult technically.
It will be released if I can do it.
Regards.

seems the html code was filtered by AMO. If I use round brackets instead of angle brackets, and bspan for the end of span tag, then I meant set a HTML template as
(span)xxx(bspan)(span) xxx(bspan)
Thank you for the valuable information.
Fix bug at version 0.4.1.
I wish it become operation for which you hope.

Hi Yasuda,
Thank you for creating this TB extension! It's very useful for me.
Here is a bug report:
set a template in HTML as
xxx xxx
will lose the space when it's finally presented in the editor. It was likely caused by
msg.replace(/ +() +/gm, "$1$2")
in the line 439 (and might 437) of messengercomposeOverlay.js.
Hope this be helpful for you and may SmartTemplate be better and better.

The setup options are in tools, add-ons, extensions, SmartTemplate 0.3.1
I second marcoasousa's comment.
Ease of use needs more work, a tab in TB it self would be nice also.

This add-on is unique and very useful. I really enjoyed. I suggest only that is considered the future possibility of formatting features, such as bold and underlined, for example.

You may use previous message information when creating a reply mail settings.
In a format similar to the following Datula previously used and the settings are allowed.
Dear %From%,
"%Subject%"
%Message-Id%
In wrote.
According to the help you can use,
%Subject% Subject
%From% sender's name
%LongFrom% email address that contains the name of the sender
%To% recipient
%Date% sent
%Message-Id% message ID
%Newsgroups% newsgroup name
I had the same idea with you too, and supported its function with version 0.3.0.
By the way, would you like to use Message-Id?
I don't think it necessary, but it would be supported if someone needs that.
