Great editor ! I used it on www.taxact.com because they have now installed a reCaptcha widget so password save doesn't work now.

This add-on fixed my password save problem on the first attempt. It worked perfectly and is easy to use. Thanks Daniel!

Did exactly what I wanted it to do from the get-go and was easy to use. I've been trying for awhile to auto-logon to a particular site and all work-arounds I've tried didn't work. This add-on resolved the issue first try. Definitely use the "Guess from current page" to populate fields and then hand fill in the remaining. Easy peasy!

I have to enter all informations into the form by hand.

Cloning does not work, an error message appears asking me if I wanted to create a double entry ... !?

Thanks for bringing it to my attention. Please note, however, this is not a viable way to conduct support. If you contact me through one of the methods (email or support site) given on the add-on listing page, we can have a proper discussion of the problem. Please provide proper detail (things like versions of Firefox and this add-on, what behavior you see, and what you expect), so that I can understand what is happening for you. Thanks.

Great tool, just misses the possibility to save a password if the password is in "the third form field".

Questa recensione riguarda una versione precedente (2.10) del componente aggiuntivo.

Firefox is unable to handle such forms. It would not fill such passwords properly even if entries were added for them. Please see the FAQ at https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/ddawson-addonssupport/dT1k0dKIJeo for more information.

First, this is a decent login-password manager, but it has one Con to it. Hence the 3 star and not 4 or 5.

Con:
It cannot save login information when the login form is located in a sub-folder or when a website is located in a sub-folder. This means if a person owns several websites all located in sub-folders of his main Domain URL, this password editor won't work.

Example:
www.yourwebsite.com/wordpress/login.php
www.yourwebsite.com/wordpress-2/login.php
www.yourwebsite.com/wordpress-3/login.php

By default FireFox saves per the main domain URL ignoring any sub-folders.

This con makes it impossible to use a password editor or password manager to auto login to websites located in sub-folders. It cannot distinguish between the URL sub-folders.

Not all websites have their own domain names when installed in sub-folders. I have several WordPress installs on my main website for demo purposes and do not want to create new domain names for each install. This is why I needed a password manager that can distinguish between login forms based on URL's that contain sub-folders locations. And for higher security, each install login has different user names and passwords.

Suggestion:
Maybe you can install that feature? - to be able to save login information per the URL and not restrict it to the main domain name.

Aug 19 / reply to Daniel:
The function of your extension is much the same, albeit some differences with another extension I downloaded and it works great. It provides "Add Secure Login Bookmark" and with that I was able to specify a subfolder for the login page, one for each WordPress subfolder domain site I have on my main domain. So yes it can work and even in FIreFox saved password editor that comes with it by default actually shows the subdomains that belong to each login.

I did not mention that extension here on purpose, but wanted to say, Yes its possible and beside that bookmark feature does pretty much the same as your extension.

Yes, it uses a work around, but whatever works.

Unfortunately, that is not possible. The built-in Password Manager inflexibly matches sites only up to the domain name (and port number, if that is part of the URL). If you try to feed it any more information, it simply refuses to match it. This is not something Saved Password Editor can control. Sorry.

If this is something you require, you will need an application or add-on that can deal with it, such as a password manager. There's also iMacros for Firefox https://addons.mozilla.org/addon/imacros-for-firefox/ which is a bit overkill but is quite likely to work for this situation.

Would it be possible to add encryption options to this add-on? I'm not sure where exactly is the passwords catalog stored, but it seems to sync through all my Firefox browsers which is fine, but I would like some more control over how they are transmitted over to Mozilla Sync servers. Just for peace of mind.
Regardless, excellent add-on. I've been using it for about 3 years now, if not more.

You misunderstand. SPE is not a password manager. It augments the functionality of the password manager that has always been a part of Firefox. You can see more details at https://support.mozilla.org/kb/password-manager-remember-delete-change-and-import , which tells about the built-in functionality and about protecting your passwords (by default, anyone with access to your Firefox profile can get the passwords; there's a way to change that). As for where they are stored, you can read https://support.mozilla.org/kb/profiles-where-firefox-stores-user-data#w_what-information-is-stored-in-my-profile

Perhaps the most useful application of this addon is that it gives a way to record and remember login info for websites which stubbornly refuse to allow your firefox to do so (although admittedly the denial to remember passwords has a meaning for many irresponsible users) . You can also make batch changes to login info.

To make firefox remember your login info you just click on the password field in the website, then you open the saved passwords dialogue and click 'New' to create a new username & password for the site. In the window that popus up you click "Guess from current page" and voila! you can now enter the username and password to be remembered.

-----------------
Update:

The developer is right. I had hidden the "Save Login Info" from the right-click menu with another addon
to save space. I unhide it and now the saving of login info in picky websites is way quicker.

Questa recensione riguarda una versione precedente (2.9.6) del componente aggiuntivo.

Thanks for this. FYI, that method *does* work. That's the original way SPE was designed. Do note, however, that I added commands to the page context menu (a.k.a. right-click menu); just right-click on a username or password field, and choose a command. Not only is it more efficient IMO, the "Save login info" command (equivalent to "New" that I added to the Saved Passwords dialog) automatically fills in all the data it can from the login form, even the username and password if you happen to have entered them. So you might only need to click "OK".

The above should be explained in the add-on description. However, some translations of it are out of date; what language do you see it in?
