just wanted to make two suggestions.
1. to add an on/off option for the separate folders allowing us to hide folders we don't want showing all the time.
2. there's a bug that prevents us from properly downloading pics from site where you must log in. like xnxx.
otherwise its a great program.

Please make it easy to add new locations by having a "New Location" to both SAVE the image you've right clicked, as well as to ADD the new location, all in one shot!
Will update my review to 5 stars at that time. ;)
Thanks!

i love this tool

Doesn't work for 3.5? I try to download/install it, and it tells me it won't work with 3.5 although the content block above says it will.

I absolutely love this add-on. I noticed people wanted the option to rename the file, wouldn't that kind of defeat the purpose of the add-on? If you want to rename the file, just click on Save Image to or save to. I am assuming this was made for ease of use, it only takes one click and no pop-up box.
Definitely a time saver just the way it.

Very handy and easy to use! I would like the renaming feature to be added though.
Thank you.

Sadly, it does not support RENAMING of files on download - ie "save as"
Thus the file will be saved on your computer with the same name as on the source, with no chance to change it.
If one uses filenames as keys to finding the images when needed (days, months, or years from now) using an image/file search app - it is unlikely that you will recall that the image of the baby gorilla with a ball is "xSECOSGFU_img_015.jpeg" vs "baby_gorilla_w_ball.jpg"
So for me, using this shortcut app takes longer, as I must then open the download directory and change the name to something useful - when by using something like "Folder Guide" (winAp that shortcuts directories) it might take a couple of extra clicks to get into the desired dir on save, but this allows rename upon save.
FavLoc lasted under an hour on my computer, too frustrating to not be able to rename the images.

This is a convenient tool, but there are two shorts:
1. It doesn't support Unicode, so it only accepts folder paths consisted of ASCII chars.
2. It seems to open a new session/connect to download, so on some sites/forums which require login, it couldn't work.

Great but do not support unicode, please fix it.

It's very useful and indeed saves me a lot of time.
Works just fine for me.
Thank you very much!

I thought that this would add the functionality to "Save As..." dialog, it does not.
You cannot edit added locations only delete and recreate them.
Also it adds "FavLoc Options" item to Tools menu. If every add-on would do that would render the menu useless. Should use Tools -> Addons -> Options just like everyone else.

Does not show correctly folder names/download aliases. Unusable in this situation.

My previous comment was incorrectly saved, i wrote about cyrill1c folder names (code page 1251).

This is an awesome little utility, that eliminates all the browsing for folders that you have to do when saving files from the internet. I use gmail and my 15 FavLocs make it really easy to save files directly the the appropriate directory.
There is one feature that I'd love to see added: the ability to rename the FavLocs that you've already created. That would be really useful. Thanks

This is my favorite add-on ever!
This is the most powerful system for saving files from the internet.
I mainly use it for saving images, which used to be a painstaking adventure because you always had to manually confirm the destination folder and the filename as well.
(Most images on the net are named 01.jpg etc, which will often result in duplicate filenames, which need to be altered manually before you are able to save the image.) Favloc however will automatically rename images if the filename allready exists, without the need of confirmation! This immensely speeds up the saving of large amounts of images.
With favloc you can even start organising your images at the very moment that you ar saving them. All of this happens without having to confirm anything and with the guarantee that no images will be overwritten.
The only disadvantage so far is that it doesn't detect duplicate entires (for instance when you accidentally save the same file 2 times in a row).
It would be neat if the program would detect that somehow.
Apart from that, excellent add-on, especially useful for people who save many different images during an internet session.
9/10.
Thanks.

I tried out three similar add-ons like this and here’s what I thought of them:
“Download Sort”: This is the worst one — completely useless to me as it only saves based on file type. So if you save JPEGs from several different sites, they all end up in the same folder. (It is also buggy.) This add-on would only be useful to a person who has all their images in one folder and all their music in one folder, etc. For someone like me with a very well-organized PC with millions of files spanning several hard drives, it is a complete joke.
“Fav Loc”: Another useless add-on as it doesn't bring up the Save As dialog box, meaning you can’t choose or create sub-folders. It’s not quite as worthless as “Download Sort”, but really the only people who would (or could) use this are people who save everything they download into a small number of folders, without any sub-folders or organisation. Again, pretty pointless to most people.
“Save Link In Folder”: OK, this is the only useful one of the three. It has the most options by far, and is the only one that allows the Save As dialogue box (so you can choose and create sub-folders). Having said that, it’s is far from perfect. The worst thing is that it doesn’t remember the last place you saved to, so every time you save a file you have to keep navigating back to where you were (this is the reason I don’t use this add-on). You also have to install two different add-ons to get it working (one for images and one for non-images).
So, in summary, of the three add-ons I tried, “Save Link In Folder” is the only serious contender, and even that is fatally flawed. So I don’t use any of them!

Once you've used FavLoc you won't want to ever be without it. The ability to switch a download destination folder with zero lag is a huge help when saving hundreds of pictures or files.
