I have used FF and Mozilla Archive format add-on since years. Thousand's of MHT saved as single file. And now no longer supported.
I just created an account here for the sole purpose to announce that I leave this browser.!!!!
I'm now on the latest Opera and i'm very pleased with my move. I have got back my .mht single file and the browser is incredibly fast. I will now close my account.

As with many of my favorite add-ons... Mozilla have either put too much load on the developer to rework their extension to make it work... or they ban it altogether (like here).
I've been using this browser since the pioneer days of Netscape Navigator... this is the first year I have ever considered switching primary browsers. But Mozilla has left me no choice but to look around.
I'd love to hear some developer feedback (even anonymous) as to why they are unable to implement an archiving tool into a modern browser.
Thank you Christopher & Paolo for the hard work you have put into this tool.

KEEP CALM AND CHANGE TO ANOTHER BROWSER!
Apparently, Firefox seems to have remained the only stupid browser that doesn't have the ability to save web pages in a single file. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MHTML)
For some unknown reason, since early versions, Firefox has never considered the MHT format. The MAFF component was the ONLY way to overcome this lack, but now it doesn't exist anymore.
Maybe the Mozilla team is too busy with its ambitious projects and doesn't care much about common users needs.
So, after some tests, I chose to migrate into "Opera"
I find it an excellent browser, stable, fast and reliable, with no bells & whistles, it supports MHTML NATIVELY !! (Just digit: opera://flags#save-page-as-mhtml into address bar and then clic on "enable" button)
Furthermore it supports uBlock Origin and many others add-ons. Now, the thousands of MHT files stored in my archives WORK PERFECTLY !!!
Absolutely no regrets for Firefox, indeed.
MANY THANKS to MAFF Developers who solved the deplorable lack of Firefox for many years.

To the developers of this plugin:
Thanks for making this great plugin. Even i had some problems recently to save files, it was doing awesome work and helping me a lot. It's a shame what Mozilla is doing with the addon's (and their developers).
To Mozilla:
Serious, it's enough. I was a loyal Firefox user for a LOT of years, but it's enough now. As the other user wrote already, the loss of this plugin (and other plugins as well) is a gamechanger, while Mozilla adds every bloatware into Firefox and isn't really better than Chrome anymore about this.
Keep your shining new Quantum sh*t for yourself, _i_ won't use it for sure. I don't need a faster and faster browser when the usability is completely down the drain because a poor and lightyears away from being complete addon engine. I'm not using much addon's, but those are essential and there is nothing comparable available. Firefox is frozen at me, updates are blocked and it will stay like that until i 100% _know_ there are updates for those few addon's or GOOD replacements for it. Or i keep migrating to another Browser. Meanwhile it doesn't matter anyway, who is collecting data, because everyone is doing it. But Quantum will NEVER happen at my PC's for sure as long you Mozzila people smoke this bad stuff. Thanks for scaring me away after all those years finally too, but it seems you really didn't lost enough people already.
PS:
Save Page WE is NOT able to be a replacements for this plugin, files are getting simply WAY bigger and more than 25% of the saved pages are simply destroyed, but working fine when saved with this MAFF addon.

The loss of this plugin is a game changer. I like many others have a vast library of MHT files.
The reason: you can save a page with active links. This MHT file is then content searchable within Windows via the standard Windows Search.
The answer ( of sorts ) i've found so far, Save Page WE, (not as capable). As for the reader, well there is a plugin for Chrome, EML, MHT viewer with Drive, which mostly works.
Word of course will read MHT ( after a fashion if it was saved with Mozilla Archive Format, and IE ( depreciated and gradually being replaced by Edge). Edge cannot by default read MHT. There is a plugin, but it is near useless.
A great loss.

Thanks Firefox for removing the MAFF Firefox extension.
Goodbye!!!

Thanks for the conversion capability within this extension's 'options' button - it will come in useful before Mozilla update Firefox and finally make the extension incompatible. I used to save everything as a single file mht - but I gave up after compatibility problems. Some browsers would try and open mht, but get stuck in a loop, asking what program to use to open it with. Now I will convert these saved files to maff or html. Maff is more or less still future proof, since I can extract them with 7zip by right-clicking and look within the folder for the file to view them

Well ... with these terrible news from Firefox, it's time to say goodbye.
These people doesn't respect their users.
No way I will waste my time anymore with something as unpredictable as Firefox polices
Bye Bye

I have really appreciated the effort you guys have put into the MAF project. So valuable - thank you! I would also be happy to pay for a MAF resurrection if they are not jaded by this experience with Mozilla.

Many times I´ve changed to other browsers, and the maff add-on is the only reason i keep coming back to use Firefox. My thanks to the developers and my bitter protest against the decision to put aside the maff extension. (sorry about my english, is not my mother tongue)
I THINK THAT FROM NOW ON, EVERYBODY WHO CARES ABOUT THIS ADD-ON SHOULD STOP USING FIREFOX. I SURELY WILL DO IT.
LET´S BOYCOTT THE TEAM WHO THINK THAT DOING THIS WAS A GOOD CALL

The MAFF Firefox extension was developed to enable saving web pages, mainly for archiving purposes. This it did extremely well due to the zipped MAFF format that contained all the different files that make up a web page in a single file. A web page can, and generally is, a very complex and messy collection of completely different file types (HTML, CSS, Javascript, images, video). Saving all these files in their original format and "messing" with the original HTML as little as possible made the restitution as close as possible to the original.
"Replacement" extensions such as "Save Page WE" are completely useless, no they do not work nearly as well as MAFF because they simply technically cannot, it is totally ridiculous to think that any web page can be inlined into a single HTML file this has never worked and will never work because of the inherently complex nature of the different components of a web page.
The MAFF format brought something else : a standalone archive format for web pages that actually worked. One can, and people do, create MAFF files form scratch that contain mini web sites that can be viewed offline and shared in a simple single file format that is easily opened in Firefox (if only other browsers had supported MAFF)
A standalone archive format is an important privacy feature that you MUST promote against the Google point of view.
Without MAFF, there is no simple way to exchange web content and we are forced to use sharing platforms and feed their big-datas...
It is shameful that a standard for a standalone Web Archive Format does not exist. Please work on it..

Can't we preserve our years of .maff archives but continue to access them using Seamonkey with the appropriate plugin???

Well, I expected something like this when Firefox forced 'Legacy' tag on all add-ons and gave ultimatum to the developers. For example, right now I have 7 add-ons permanently enabled and 6 of them will not work with brand new 57 Firefox ver. that will grace us in a month.
I think I'll stick to 56 FF and old version of MAFF, thank you very much. I mean, I can change old add-ons for 57+ compatible alternatives. I can also switch Firefox for Chrome, because without some of them there's no point in using Firefox. MAFF was one of those 'must have' add-ons.
Okay, forgive my rant. Great add-on anyway.

Honestly, a great add-on and firefox do not think about giving support for MAFF and MHT files, it's a shame. It forces us to have to leave. We hope that the developer of this add-on can give us some alternative.

What are you thinking, making the MAFF add-on redundant! I guess I will have to stick with an old browser version for a while, until I figure out where to go. You know, that when people tout speed over usability - then they're probably just too young to have figured out what's really important.

You throw up your uniqueness.
Now you are just an 'ordinary' browser.
Why you make firefox faster if you cannot easily save the contents ? You'll lose your ability to offline view.

.... wie die Entwickler von Firefox mit ihren Usern umgehen.
Ich werde mich schweren Herzens von Firefox trennen müssen.

Whatever the reason for such a morbid decision is: I WILL STOPP USING THIS BROWSER, if the Mozilla guys don't care for users and compatibility anymore! They have done so too often. And this is definitly the end for me.
