The version you are speaking about still is not working the way it is supposed to. Check out the forum and you will see...users had to revert to an earlier version in order to make it work the way it did prior to 0.6.1 Some of the functions still work, but others do not.

Following Rezwan's excellent suggestion on March 25, 2010
I modified the v0.5.7.5b2 and it works excellent and restores all the functionalities of GMail manager as before.
Most of the following suggestions are taken from Rizwan's message. So all credit to him!
1. Download Gmail Manager 0.5.7.5b2 from http://longfocus.com/firefox/gmanager/releases/gmanager0575b2.xpi [That's the developer's site.]
2. Open the file with WinRAR. Keep the window open.
3. You should see a "install.rdf" file. Open Notepad; Drag and drop install.rdf into Notepad.
4. Find tag and replace "0.5.7.5b2" with "0.6.3".
5. Find tags and replace "3.5.*" with "3.6.*"
6. Save the file on your computer hard drive (eg; desktop), make sure the file name stays "install.rdf".
7. Drag the saved rdf file back into the WinRar window. Accept replace old file.
8. Drag the package into a Firefox window. You should have Gmail Manager's much loved functionalities back! ;)

It does not work for me (Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.1.9) Gecko/20100317 SUSE/2.0.4-1.2 SeaMonkey/2.0.4). The envelope does not appear, preferences do not work.
There is no problem with Firefox.

I try more than 10 email notifier or manager or greasemonkey scripts but there is only one winner so this is it. And it brings all emails to your desktop. Try and use, you will enjoy this addon.

Why the hell does this thing keep telling my my passwords are incorrect? I think I know my passwords thank you very much. It tells me that none of my passwords can contain spaces, ummmm, newsflash, YES they can!

I liked it at first, but now whenever I add an email it doesn't show the name just the envelope icon. So I have the previous email names showing, but anything that I've added lately doesn't show the name.

Please... bring 0.5 features version back. Don't display snippets, and email preview on popup.
Furthermore, the 0.6 version is terrible, hangs Firefox up for 10s on first startup, we cannot click on any button in this time.

Please fix it, your addon was better than any email client i saw before. But this but make hin unuseful ro me.

I used it for a long time, but I finally uninstalled it today.
0.6 was terrible, and the author seems not to update it anymore, let alone keep existing and loved funtionality, like displaying the messages in your inbox, or a popup when a new mail arrives.

A proud Todd Long's Gmail Manager supporter, but I must say I'd uninstall the extension version 0.6 (which is unable to display emails subjects on KDE3 / KDE4.4 / Openbox on Linux !)

This might help those (like me) who miss the proper functionalities of Gmail Manager. You can follow the steps below to modify version 0.5.7.5b2 to make it appear like version 0.6.1 and force Firefox 3.6 to use it.

When the next official update is released, FF should be able to install that without any issues. Hope it helps!

This was my favorite Firefox app up until version .6. Now it's marginal. It used to switch the account shown when the account received an email. I never had to manually check the accounts list. This new version does not do this. Up until today I was able to keep v0.5.7.5 and prevent the add-on from updating. However, today it forced me to upgrade. Now not only have I lost that function, the update looks to be broken. I now have two accounts showing side by side in my status bar. I'll have to uninstall to try to fix it. If I can find a better add-on I'll install that instead.

This was a great app. I mean, it still is very convenient but where are the mouse-over previews gone?

Firefox 3.6 starts up 3 times as slow with gmail manager. I also don't like how a box with unread messages doesn't come to the front anymore.
(having an icon for every mailbox is ugly and messy)
Have been using it since around 2.0, but it's time for an other gmail plugin, it seems.

Gmail Manager used to be such a good addon. But now it seems that the developer is not too keen to fix the issues. I can't get it to work for 3.6. Wonder if there is anybody who is running v0.6.1 successfully on Firefox 3.6. Two star rating for the awesome addon it once used to be.
