This would be fine if we had the option to move the count number to the tab bar or location bar.
If you hide the menu bar with an add-on, this won't work.

This is a very nice extension for someone like me, who tends to mindlessly open tabs. Thank you for making it!
However, just one suggestion: In the advanced text formatting option, can you add a string that shows the total amount of tabs in the current window, and a string that shows the 'global' amount of tabs (in all open windows)? Like in the TabCount extension. Thank you.

Great ! 10/10 ~almost~
( but for the documentation. )
A few minor points & wish-list:
1) I like the way you get to options by
RtClik on the tab count itself,
Like Michael_Corvin/ dypsis, I recommend
Options>Format_string: %c/%n
which gives me, for example: 20/42
(I'm in the 20th tab of a total of 42.)
2) I click on th tab count, get options. fine.
You say "click on labels for CSS info".
But if you do, it takes you off to CSS
documentation. Rather alarming, and too techie
for the average joe. And haven't the time.
Cascading Style Sheets. Fascinating. Later.
Much better to give some nice examples in a
Help text.
(Try to remember, not everyone is as
intelligent as you! Or me, even.)
3) ...and if you click on the label 'Format_String'
it very strange. Hovering over this label works,
but that isn't what you say, is it?
3) PLEASE sort out the tags in the add-ons file.
When I search for 'Tab Counter', I only get
TabCounter by filipc, which does not work. Not for me, anyway (ff 3.5 in vista2). Time was te.
So people have to dig further to find it, &
sadly may never get here.
4) When I Tools>Extensions, select Tab Counter &
RtClk, the 'Home page' is greyed out.
No help there, then.
5) PLEASE, please, put some clear examples of format
strings in some easily found Help text.
Put a link in the Options panel, maybe.
6) I would really like to have some indication on the tab itself, of the number of pages that have
been overlaid.
Countless times, I have deleted a tab, only to
realize later that the page I wanted was overlaid
beneath it. Countless times.
The standard feature of bringing up a selectable
list when you Rt-click on the back-arrow is
rather nice, but has to be done on a by-page
basis, and is easily missed.
(is %n the number of tabs, or the number of
actual pages, some hidden?
Something useful to know.)
Thanks to all those who reviewed before, without whom I would probably not have seen all the excellent features on this neat add-on.

This extension is definitely NOT COMPATIBLE with 3.7a1 and trying to access its OPTIONS renders the Add-Ons window unclickable AND unclosable.
Besides that, this extension here=> https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/6391 is TONS BETTER! (and everything works in 3.7a1 too!)
I've tested the extension with 3.7a1 and it works fine. The extension you linked to breaks my extension when it's installed (it overwrites my extension's chrome overlay) so that's most likely why you are having problems.

I originally thought that this add-on wasn't working, because I didn't see the tab count to the left of the address bar as shown in the first image. Then I found the counter in the upper right, and I thought that this was just another add-on that only counted tabs in the current window. Finally, I opened the Options dialog box and read about the %c and %n options and the customizable CSS. Finding these options makes it so much more than just another tab counting add-on. My suggestions for improvement would be:
1) Update the Long Description and Images for the add-on to reflect the current default behaviors.
2) Include the customization information in the Long Description or somewhere else.
3) Add an option to display total number of tabs across all windows.
4) Add an option to display total number of windows.
5) Add an option to display the current window.
I'm glad I looked closer at this add-on, or I would have just uninstalled it. Keep up the good work!

mr tech toolkit .. window title insert "Tabs: ${TabCount}" is better than having this addon.. just sayin' :)

I like the command %c/%n. Should be Default.
Thanks for your great work :)

I just upgraded to Tab Counter 1.8 and set the advanced formating option (with "%c of %n") to list both the current tab and the number of open tabs.
Simple but elegant, Morac! I use a lot of tabs and this is making the browsing experience much better.

This extension does not work after installing several other extension. I had used it before, but now it no longer works. I use FF2.

Works great, but causes my CPU to max out at nearly 100%.
I had to disable various addons in order to discover this. I like this extension, but wish it wouldn't cause so much CPU usage.

almost perfect, the only problem is that it's not compatible with the glasser add-on
but that's a problem with glasser

This is an incredibly simple extension, but I find it very useful.
I find it so useful that I consider it a "must have".
I can have 30 tabs open and not realize it, but with this extension that situation is remidied (as in I can easily determine that I indeed have 30 tabs open).
It's easy to lose track.
This extension rocks.
I highly recommend it.

The recent update makes this more and more useful.
I also like the idea of putting the counter up rather than on the status bar which may cause inconvenience to users whose status bar is already full of applications.
