Works for me with the https://$ADdomain\$login@$exchangeserver/EWS/Exchange.asmx connection string. I add to modify the install.rdf to add support for seamonkey.
Might be a good idea to add default support for seamonkey ?

I had this plug-in for weeks and made many attempts to make it work. One thing that kept me going is all the positive reviews here of people being successful with making their Exchange working. (Well, and perhaps strong dislike for Outlook software.)
So if you are on Syracuse University email @syr.edu domain, than you need to FIRST (!) create an IMAP account in your Thunderbird and make sure that is working fine. Then you need to follow instruction on the plug-in support page. Finally what you need (and I was missing out on for weeks) is to know the domain. For SU it is exchange.syr.edu so the final line would look like this https://exchange%2Esyr%2Eedu%5C[your_username_here]@auto/
After (!) the set up is complete and I have my new but yet empty calendar in Lightning, Thunderbird asks for password again, and I remove the username that's there and put in [myusername]@syr.edu and than password. It asks it several times. I haven't figured out why, but it works: I can see my web/exchange calendar and make online modifications to it.
next thing is to get contacts synced :-/

Works for me with Exchange 2007 and:
https://DOMAIN%5CUSERNAME@owa.domain.co.uk/EWS/Exchange.asmx
Changing DOMAIN and USERNAME for the short version of my domain and my log in username.
Thanks

Works great once you find that:
https://$ADdomain\$login@$exchangeserver/EWS/Exchange.asmx
Is the configuration that works. As soon as it supports tasks and contacts, I will gladly donate $30.00 I promise.

0.17 Works well, https://domain\name@auto did not work for me as the auto configuration points to a local mail server, but https://domain\name@domain/EWS/Exchange.asmx worked out well.A big thank-you for everyone that helped out to get it working.

As two other reviewers have noted, this plugin does NOT work with microsoft online (online web services).
So if you domain is hosted with microsoftonline.com you are not going to be able to use this plugin to access your Exchange calendar.
I have both pidgin (domain/username) and thunderbird working with Microsoft Online, but there are no instructions to make this work with microsoftonline.
Thunderbird mail using red001.mail.microsoftonline.com to connect.
Pidgion uses pool1.oconline.microsoftonline.com to connect... (I posted the instructions to make this work here -> http://sourceforge.net/projects/sipe/forums/forum/688534/topic/4628665 )
But without knowing the instructions and without know the server name (I tried red001.mail and pool1.oconline) and how they want the connect (what are the bind lines needed?) It does not appear this plugin will work with Microsoftonline services.
Thanks for your bug report. I have filed it in the bug tracking system at <https://bugs.launchpad.net/lightning-exchange-provider/+bug/819558> and will update it there as I try to fix the bug.

I've been using the Provider for Microsoft Exchange addon for some time and it's very good.
When I upgraded to Thunderbird 5 it didn't work for me with the newly updated v0.15 of the addon. Upgrading to v0.16 did the trick for me because it is now working again. Currently, v0.16 is marked as experimental and a manual upgrade is necessary, albeit a simple procedure.

I had the review this again now that I have it working properly, https://[domain]\[username]@[exchange-ews-fqdn]/EWS/Exchange.asmx works fine, took me a bit longer to find out the actual [domain] section as I have a hosted exchange but its working now :D

Does not work - very frustrating. Tries to verify password, then tells me it cannot verify and suggests pw / username are incorrect. Tried all configurations with username, password is correct. No way to get it to work. I wish I could give this more stars, but it does not work for me. Good luck.
Correction: Apparently, there is a problem with not being logged into the Kerberos/Gssapi realm. After looking on the web, other people have the same problem. It's not the app, but it still does not work. Too bad.

Wow, I really wish my employer used Exchange 2007 or later. But you know what I really wish? That the world world would stop assuming that everyone updates their IT stuff all the time. Case in point: Windows XP. It's used almost exclusively in many education settings, and it's 2011! Please write or find me a solution so I can access my Exchange 2003 info IN THUNDERBIRD!
Questa recensione riguarda una versione precedente (0.15) del componente aggiuntivo.Hi! I'd be happy to add support for 2003 if you submit patches for it. As far as I know Exchange 2003 does not support EWS but only MAPI, which terribly complicated. Apart from that, I don't think that you are in a position to quite offensively demand a set of features from open source software, especially if the software has the laborous job of interfacing with proprietary software. You should rather complain to your IT that they use old proprietary software in the first place.

Great add-on, but I am missing one feature: to be able to add my colleagues' calendars (read only; all calendars are shared to everybody else here). Or is there some way to do this, using the calendar address?

First thing first, I used MozBackup to backup Email and Address Book ONLY in order to keep important emails and contacts.
Make sure I have got a backup of my Profile folder as follows:
"C:\Users\<Windows user name>\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\<Profile name>\"
Uninstall older TB and completely remove my Profile folder.
Install new TB5.0 and then try to open it up (failed the first time).
Now make sure TB5.0 is closed.
Go into the new Profile folder and locate profile.ini and make sure the following lines exist:
"StartWithLastProfile=0"
Restore the backup from MozBackup.
Start TB5.0 all over again and install following add-ons:
Lightning 1.0b4,
Provider for Google Calendar 0.8,
Provider for Microsoft Exchange 0.16 [Manual install]
Follow the guide on http://gitorious.org/lightning-exchange-provider/pages/Home
to add new Exchange Calendar without auto discovery using the following URL in settings:
https://$ADdomain\$login@$exchangeserver/EWS/Exchange.asmx
Done with Exchange Calendar 2007!

waiting for 0.15 Release as 0.14 does not work with Thunderbird 5.0. Any idea when this will be released?

When I try to add this add-on, Thunderbird says that it's not compatible with Thunderbird 5. Are there any plans to update it?

Does not work with internal certificate autosigned.
There is no button to accept them, and the plugin keep notifing that the certificate is wrong, you have to kill thunderbird not very friendly. Waiting for the next version hoping this problem lasting will be solved
This is not a plugin problem, but a problem of Thunderbird. Please see the FAQ on how to configure Thunderbird to accept self-signed certificated.

Love the plugin, even see that invitations are working which is awesome.
Password saving and the Password manager isn't working however. If I look at the database, the password entry is there, but for some reason the system thinks it needs to ask again each time its used. Since I don't see this with other passwords, I'm wondering if it has something to do with how the @ and . are being translated into %40 and %2E in the URI?

This works great in Thunderbird 3.1. Are there plans of making it compatible with Miramar (3.3a4pre + lightning 1.0b4pre)?

Greate addon, but I still have the problem with password not beeing saved.
Have anyone found a solution to the none saving passwords?
Assegnate 4 su 5 stelle
If your login password is not saved try to change exchange location url to https://DOMAIN\firstname.lastname@address.com/EWS/Exchange.asmx
After saving new url its should look like https://DOMAIN%5Cfirstname%2Elastname@address.com/EWS/Exchange.asmx and you should insert username as DOMAIN\firstname.lastname.
In my case it worked as I am domain user and my email address in fallowing form firstname.lastname@address.com.
