I have found that if you type the contact name in the search box, this is highlighted and is what is copied.

So make sure to click in the address book window to deselect the highlighted name first

Great plugin but the fact I have to download this is dreadful. Why write the addressbook display code to DELIBERATELY make the text unselectable? What possible benefit does that bring to the user?

Madness.

Very useful! If you enter a search string in your adress book you should not forget to click on the desired entry in the search result list. Otherwise you can not copy the selected data.

Thanks! Regarding click-to-select, this appears to be the generic behavior of the Address book. For example, the "Delete" and "Properties" buttons behave the same way.
