In a little more detail...

I create addons for Thunderbird, have served as a Mozilla addon editor in the past, and am currently a Thunderbird core reviewer.

Most of my addons consist of attempts to push Thunderbird in new directions, and frequently have required changes to the backend to allow extensions to do new things.

Most of my current effort is devoted to my ExQuilla addon, which adds support for Thunderbird to use Exchange Web Services to access email and contacts.

Add-ons I've created

FiltaQuilla

Adds many new mail filter actions - launch a file, suppress notification, remove star or tag, mark replied or unread, copy as "read", append text to subject.

New Account Types Requires Restart

Allows other extensions to create new account types. This extension (sometimes called SkinkGlue) should not normally be downloaded directly by users, but instead is included in bundles with other extensions, such as the extension TweeQuilla.

ToneQuilla Requires Restart

Adds a new action to mail filters to allow playing a particular sound when the filter matches. Also includes several sample sound files.

For Thunderbird 78 support of sounds, please check out Filtaquilla 3.1

JunQuilla Requires Restart

1) adds column with percent likelihood that a message is spam, 2) extends junk status column to show why a message was classified as junk/good, 3) adds an Uncertain folder for messages needing user decision.

My Reviews

Quicktext

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

As mentioned by others, this addon does not work with Thunderbird 38 due to an encoding issue. I've looked at the code, and presented the trivial change needed to restore read/write capability of template files. See http://mesquilla.com/2015/07/15/fixing-quicktext-addon-for-thunderbird/

I've contacted the author asking that this change be done, or someone else released to do the change.
