Maybe the only one works well in 3.0 beta 4 by far. And so many great and easy to use options!

This one works!
Zindus and the others I've tried always either stop working or don't work at all or ruin not one but both address books.

Any other module I tried eventually corrupted data on one side or the other.
This is the first acceptable solution I found to synchronise Thunderbird and Google (and, hence, my iPhone) in a reliable way.
The next release taking advantage of Google contacts improvements sounds promising.

Wow a add-on that actually manages to sync with google contacts, that's really great. I have tried many of the other add-ons that are suppose to do this but they tend to fail. I particularly like the fact there is an option to have recieve updates from google never update google, marvellous.

I tested all available google mail sync add ons I found on the mozilla site. This ( beta! ) is the only one which worked like expected without crashes and a nice solution to synchronize the postal addresses too. My recommendation! Great work. Support this guy and his work.

Finally, a way to sync TBird Contacts with GMail that actually works, and works well.
I really look forward to some of the changes coming down the road, especially the ability to sync different AddressBooks with different GMail Groups in the same GMail account, and to have different settings (direction, permissions, etc) for each. Right now I had to set up multiple gmail accounts to be able to sync multiple AddressBooks, but it is a small price to pay to have reliable syncing...
Thanks Josh for such a great tool!

Works exactly as advertised so far. Very helpful for those of us that let Google run most of our online lives. Keep up the good work!

It works great and is easy to setup. The only thing that i would change is the "need of my email password".Otherwise the developer should warranty the application security or get a Thunderbird Add-on certification.

By far the easiest, most efficient, and customizable add-on for Gmail users to sync their contact information with Thunderbird. Your development efforts are greatly appreciated. Please keep up the great work!

This is the best one so far. I can't believe it since I've tried them all - this just worked. I'm relieved and since this is considered experimental it will only get better. Nice job.

I am currently using gContactSync 0.2.1 with Thunderbird 2.0.0.21.
This has been my third in-depth attempt to have an add on synchronize my contacts to and from GMail to Thunderbird.
This is EASILY the best addon for this purpose that I've found. Google Contacts by H.Ogi and Zindus by Leni Mayo were both functional, but extremely limited in the level of customization and, more importantly, in the amount of data transferred between GMail and Thunderbird.
My only minor - and I feel that it's very minor considering all of the vast benefits of this add on - is that, occasionally, certain information is initially parsed somewhat incorrectly. For instance, I had an entry with:
LastName, FirstName 'Nickname'
The add on did not correctly identify the different parts of the name. I solved this by copy / pasting to correct the fields and, voila!, problem solved.
I would highly recommend this addon to anyone using GMail (either POP or IMAP) with Thunderbird.
And thanks to Josh Greenen and the rest of the development team for this add on. Keep up the great work!
