Bitteschön :-)

I have been using this add-in for some time now and it works really well, thanks to the developer! One quick observation/bug though, on Firefox Mac version it creates a .part file in the download folder and I have to manually remove it, something like ffCPJ1Ad.zip.part. It doesn't happen on Windows.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (4.0.1).

Thanks for the bug report - I can't really test it though, I don't have access to an OSX machine within a foreseeable future. Sorry! -- Maybe you could try to set a different "download path", somewhere inside your user folder? I presume the access rights just don't fit.

A bit buggy. Some files which includes "-" symbol causes the download to fail. An example: http://www.download.hr/go.php?file=w6775&code=m1a4l3q7y6q7q6y0b0v6 (Non-direct link: http://www.download.hr/download-k-lite-codec-pack-update.html). If you click Run option, download will finish instantly and will open a black screen that automatically closes in about 2-3 secs. If you click Save, then the download will work as expected, beacause this is native from Firefox.
I'm now using Firefox 39.0 es_es on Windows 7 32 bit ServP1 Spanish

This works perfectly for me for all MS office files. Must have add-on.

Exactly what I wanted. Allowed me to open rather than save EXE files and did so flawlessly. Not sure why it wouldn't work for some people, but I can confirm that it does work as intended in my case.

The developer would say it works in this version but it definitely does not and it's so annoying if you are trying to install a windows fix that when you try to extract the files they disappear.

Sorry that you experienced problems with OpenDownload2.

Does anything relevant appear in the Error Console? Did you try with all other addons disabled?

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I didn't even notice this feature was missing until today as I've always had an addon that fixed it, but it flatout disappeared from my extensions for some reason.

The problem is in the Firefox application settings. Open that up and you'll see some files have "always ask" while others have "save file". Just click the dropdown button where it says "save file" and change it to "always ask". Took me forever to figure that out.

The plugin is very useful but it seems that it doesn't work on the latest Firefox version (32.0.1). The "Run" button does nothing.

UPD:
Seems strange, but the plugin is working fine now. Maybe it's thanks to updating to the version 32.0.2. Anyway, thank you for your reply! :)

Hi,

I just tested it in the newest 33.0 beta. It works for me.

Could you provide more information about your environment? Does anything relevant appear in the error console? Better send me an e-mail with that. :-)

Thanks in advance!

Thank you, epic addon

Since 2 days ago, "RUN" doesn't work. Please need a fix.

Edit: everything ok at the moment, thanks to fix, because there are lot of add-ons outdated.
Another thing, the rating isn't importante, the important thing is the add-on useful

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.5.1.1-signed).

There's a fix in the Developer Channel. Thanks for the low rating.

edit: The fix is on the website and in the AMO review queue. :)
edit: Well, a bad rating stating that there's no fix will confuse users. No problem, technically, but ... :)

This is a usable, handy extension, but if you change the default download folder as described below (adding to about:config) BEWARE that if you set it to an existing folder (e.g. Download) it will delete EVERYTHING in that folder! This is LuckWare i.e. it does a handy thing within very tight constraints.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.5.1.1-signed).

... as described on the add-on page, and by default OD² uses a completely own folder.

Very useful! This should definitely be included in Firefox by default.

This is not a 'new' review, but a response to the Developer.

Sorry for not responding sooner, my OS is Windows 7 Ultimate (SP1) x64. The downloads that were failing were all .exe files, and it doesn't matter where it came from, it always gave the error.

I have no idea why it does it, because it works perfectly fine in 3.4.3 but fails to work in 3.5.x.

Browser versions I tried it on were FireFox 25.0.1 and Firefox 28.0.

Anything relevant in the error console?
(Maybe you'd better send me some e-mail so this doesn't spoil the reviews :-))

Absolutely a great Add-On. I write reports in HTML and use FF portable along with some other portable apps to run independent of the user's system and this Add-On has saved me much time in creating run links for my reports.

On a side note, I did have problems with 3.5.1 like another user and 3.4.3 did clear it up so I'm good. Thanks for a great little app.

This is an awesome extension, but I have a concern. The addon works perfectly, but when I Run something then visit my Downloads history and click the "Open file location" button on that download, the containing folder contains older downloads which were "run" and they were complete and still worked, so I am concerned. I download some pretty big stuff, so I'm wondering if the folder is cleared automatically. I don't want to run out of disk space!
Edit: (reply to developer) My Browser was Firefox 29 (while using the extension) and my OS is Vista. I'm sure that the same thing happens with Firefox 28.
Edit 2: fixed some confusing content.

Yes it is, as stated on the site.

(Well... it could as well be a bug. Which browser/OS?)

Как настроить папку для сохранения скаченных файлов?
(How to configure a folder to save downloaded files?)
---
Go to about:config, add the string "extensions.openDownload2.downloadPath" and set it to the folder you wish. :-)
---
Такого пункта там нет (There is no such item).

I love this Add-on, using it since forever. However, on Windows 8.1 x64, the first time I download something in a new session, the download fails (<file> could not be opened, because the associated helper application does not exist. Change the association in your preferences.). Happens for random files. Could you please fix this?

Edit: fiddled around with the extensions. Can't really find the culprit, but after reinstalling some stuff it works perfectly now. You're add-on deserves all the five stars!

Uhm... any other extensions?

Finally! I have been looking for this feature for AGES! Thanks! I think Mozilla should add this in settings, or at least in about:config. Thanks a bunch. :)

Thanks for the 3.5.1 version. Downloaded it from your website and all works fine here. (Win 7 Firefox 26.0) You only truly realise how important something is when it's missing... and I missed this a LOT!

Thanks for your kind words. :-)
