Paolo, thanks for this great extension. It works without problems on my Thunderbird and my mail store (Cyrus IMAP).

This is a huge need and time-saver when it comes to processing emails from unified messaging gateways, e.g. when you get faxes or scanned letters by email. All of them have the same title and sender, so it's impossible to tell what's inside, and each time I search for something, I have to open them all. Horrible. With your extension, I can give them a meaningful subject, one that tells *me* what's inside, and I can put a sender and recipient in. For those broken devices that can't even put in a date, I can even fix that. This helps tremendously.

Thanks a lot!

(P.S. Suggestion: Some UI help with the date field would be good for those who don't speak RFC822 natively :) , e.g. a date/time picker.)

I subscribe to the 'voice message to email' service that my phone carrier provides, and filter and save these emails into a special folder. When the email arrives it has a subject line like: 'call from xxxxxxxxxx'(10 digit phone #) or 'call from an unknown sender' or 'call from a private-user'
With Header Tools Lite, I can rewrite the subject line to provide more pertinent detail. 'call from Mike's cell' rather than 'call from a private user'. I also like the idea that none of the other details are changed (unless I want.)

My only problem is with the security aspect. If I ever have to produce a saved email for a legal purpose, It may not be accepted, When you compare the sender's copy with the recipient's, they will not correspond, and then the whole document may be discounted. (Courts are funny that way!).

Legal issues aside, I found that this extension works fine, right out of the box, on Thunderbird 17.0
Good job! (4.5 stars)

Sehr sinnvoll und funktioniert an sich auch sehr gut. Nur die Option "max chars set to -1" ist buggy!

Einen entsprechenden Fehler-Bericht wurde bereits an Entwickler gesandt.

Danke!

Excellent. Finally allowed me to move up from TB2. Easily modify subject line on any incoming email. Some of my uses:
1.Bills folder sort by subject,
"creditor1,2012-1117, $99.99"
"creditor1,2012-1017,$98,88"
"creditor2,2012-1105,$18.55" ...
2.Purchases folder, sort by subject,
"24.96,PayPal, mouse
"61.50,visa , Power saw
3. Proj Name, date, remarks
(group related messages w/sort by subj)
Also good when sender subject lacks clarity, etc.

Fantastico ... Estaba buscando algo asi desde hace tiempo, para cuando corresponsales poco cuidadosos envian mails sin 'Asunto' (Les ponia etiquetas con el 'Asunto', pero no es muy practico)

Por el momento hace lo que dice

GRACIAS !!!

Works as advertized. This type of feature should be a basic function in T-bird
