One other feature I used in Quick File, that I'd like to find in this add-on, was the possibility of selecting a folder to use as root folder.

How can such an add-on be left without a "father"?

The idea and the implemented features are awesome. Unfortunately it seems that the development has stopped, there are some annoying bugs that have been files and are not getting fixed, for example recurring appointments in thunderbird keep propping up every time you sync with another tb.
To create your own collections, you must have a Mozilla Add-ons account.
