Beee-U-Ti-Ful addon! Simple elegance.

A great addon! A small feature request though. It would be nice if there was a way to configure which views are visible when you click on the arrow buttons. For instance, i would like to hide the "recent" and "unified" views, personally i never use them.
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.10).... I'll put it on my to-do list. Thanks!
ETA: In the add-on preferences in the current version of the add-on, you can now select which views are active in the pop-up menu and/or the arrows.

Hi and thanks for writing this great tool. Is there a way to have a
shortcut, ideally managed through 'keyconfig' addon? Thanks!
Giving a 5 star based on the reply to using a keyboard. The tool does its job correctly. Thanks for replying so quickly jikamens!
To create a key binding to scroll backward through the list of views, bind it to execute the JavaScript code 'gFolderTreeView.cycleMode(false);'. To scroll forward, use 'true' instead of 'false'.
Note that you can use these key bindings even without Folder Pane View Switcher installed. :)

I suggest using this together with the "Advanced Unread Folders" add-on. That one adds a very useful sorting function that can be used with this one.

What's implemented works best.
I have a related problem: I have lots and lots of folders in a hierarchy. When I drag things into them the hierarchy expands and a long list ensues.
I wish there was a mode that would allow me to drag messages into a subfolder and then have the folder structure auto contract back.
(now it only auto-contracts if i hover over a folder structure but "change my mind" so all the components seem to be in place...
Thx!

The folder view switching arrows should never have been removed. At a minimum it should be configuration setting but better yet have the usability issues resolved instead of just throwing away the feature.

What the heck were they thinking when they removed a most basic feature such like easy and mouse-acrobatics free folder view switching from Thunderbird? How is one supposed to cope with a more complex folder structure and multiple accounts? Seems the people at Mozilla recently try their best to work *against* a positive user experience...
Thank you for this add-on. This is a must for people that still want order and oversight in their mail client, even with more then a few mail accounts and folders.

Спасибо за отличное дополнение. Эти стрелки действительно очень удобные, и почему их убрали?

Desde que desapareció en TB 8 me resultaba muy incómodo!
Porque habrán sacado del core una funcionalidad tan buena?
Thanks jikamens !!!!

I couldn't do without.
But I could do without a few of the views. <br>If you add a drop-down list with all views, so I could jump from one view to the other instead of cycling around, I'd be happy.
The Thunderbird devs added the drop-down list you asked for -- I get no credit for that! -- but the current version of the add-on now adds the ability (in the add-on preferences) to select which views are active in the menu and/or arrows.

thank you for that valuable addon!
is it possible to make this addon configurable? i only need to switch between "All Folders" and "Favorites".
So i'd love to see the possibility to configure the views this extension cycles!
Thanks,
Raoul
Yes, you can do this now in the add-on preferences.

Thank you. I hope this feature will come back in TB 9.

I was sooooo annoyed that the arrows disappeared in TB 8. Was ready to go back to 7 or find another email program. Thanks for creating this add-on.
suggestion: if you drag the message to the title bar of the folder list, have it cycle through the choices (favorite, unread, etc) changing every 1000 msec (optional setting) then when you move off the title bar stay on that folder set while the message is dropped. I often have the folders set to view all but want to drop something into a favorite folder, this would speed up that process. Thanks.
Thanks for your suggestion. I don't think the additional complexity and potential for confusion of flipping between views is warranted. The goal of the automatic view switching is to make it easy to drop into a folder that is not visible in the current view. The "All Folders" view, as its name implies, shows all folders, so it is sufficient to accomplish the goal. Flipping between views would not provide access to any folders that "All Folders" doesn't provide access to, and it could easily confuse people.

A fantastic fix for the bug in Thunderbird 8 that removed this function. With literally hundreds of folders, I need to switch between views easy and fast. No way to do that thanks to the bug where the developers broke TB 8.

Brings back functionality lost in TB-8 and adds a great feature. Works great.

I had decided to switch to a different email program after the folder pane switcher was removed. Glad I decided to search for this add-on.
It seems that Mozilla forgot that the fact that more people complain about things than write compliments doesn't mean that things should be changed.
This part of the software was fixed. They should not have broken it. Thanks for creating this add-on.
Highly regarded and recommended.

I don't know why this feature was removed, as opposed to just making it a preference (default: enabled!) if some people didn't like it. I missed it immediately, but this is an easy way to bring it back. Thank you.

Thank you so much. I was so upset to lose it after upgrading. It's wonderful to have it back again.
