It is such a simple and normal email function that I can't believe we need an add-on at all. But I am SO GLAD that we have this one! It returns a feature that every other email program has by default.

I very much hope this addon will be once compatible with thunderbird 78. I agree so much with V@no, without it thunderbird leaves a useless "startup page" or blank page feature. Who would want that?

I downloaded this a while ago and it worked perfectly until I updated Thunderbird to 78.2.2 today. Now it doesn't work any more. I tried removing it and re-installing it and it still doesn't work. Could you fix it please so that it works with the latest version of Thunderbird?

HI, Not sure to understand how it works because at startup TB goes to the oldest message and not the latest as expected?

Great, thanks for this! So many people have been asking for this functionality for years (like you say, it was originally in Thunderbird 1.* but was removed and replaced with the "startup page").

I was missing this add-on; it should be installed as a default in Thunderbird. Thank you for bringing it back.

Great little tool. At first I downloaded version 2 and it didn't have ANY effect at all in my TB portable (v.10 ESR). Later in the day I tried out version 1 ...and it works!!! Yippee!

I'm uncertain whether any Thunderbird add-on developers are still active, but this add-on would be useful if it worked when date was the secondary sort option - eg. sort by date -> sort by star

It does not work using TB Portable 17.08 with ascending order (oldest on top).Yes, it selects the last message but before downloading the new ones (pop)...
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.0).As the description says it only works on startup or when switching folders for the first time.
Perhaps it doesn't work the way you wanted it to, but it doesn't mean it doesn't work the way it intended to.
If you have any issue with the addon, please use the provided support email address.
Thank you.

EDITED: Thanks for the reply, i missed that part. That's a shame though, because it doesn't really "bring OutlookExpress-like feature" fully then...
Original review:
Doesn't seem to work for me with TB 17.0.6I scrolled up in the inbox, selected some email... viewed some other folder and returned to the inbox- that email is still selected and the scroll-bar is where it was (not at the bottom)
That is expected on non-unified folders.
As it sais in the description, it only select latest message when folder opened for the first time during current session.

Big thanks to author!
Strange that this feature doesn't work in TB by default (without your ext.).
