I like this tool very much. It would be even more beteer if ther was a possibility to manage (export - import - handle).

So many times I had accidentally closed not just a tab, but a whole window of tabs, by mistake. Session Manager to the rescue, a quick undo or restore of one tab or a whole window of tabs is easily done. Additionally, the ability to save an entire session (all windows and tabs) is a nice tool that I sometimes use in cases such as the following: I have a bunch of FF windows/tabs open, but for memory/speed purposes I want to close them while I work on some other CPU/memory intensive stuff for a few hours while still leaving FF open for minimal browsing services --- now I can do this by saving everything as a named session and closing all the windows, and then later restore the named session.

This works great, and doesn't conflict with my other tab extensions (Taboo, ColorfulTabs, LastTab).

WISHLIST: As someone who uses two computers at home, plus a laptop while traveling, it would be nice if there were an option for "remote" storage of a session. There is a Firefox add-on called Linkwad which does this, and it would be really nice if Session Manager could build Linkwad style functionality into it (I would rather have a single extensions, Session Manager, that handles all of my session storage -- both local and remote -- rather than having to deal with two different session managers, which complicates things a bit).

Absolutely essential and classic extension. Powers up the Session Management 10 fold.

Request the author to please update the Toolbar Icons/Buttons. They look a little antiquated now.

Glad to see active development once again on this classic extension, and the recent additions - Autosave, encrypted sessions - are brilliant. Many thanks!

A couple of stumbling points prevent it from achieving its full potential here.

First, there is no confirmation before performing destructive operations (such as blowing away the current browsing session (such as when restoring other browsing sessions, either by choice or by accident).

Second, there is no visibility into a) what is in saved sessions, or b) when they were saved, so you can't tell what the most recently saved session is very easily. For example, the session "Previous Browsing Session" - could be just about anytihng.

i use this a lot. very handy.

points / features:

- being able to centrally store sessions. maybe somehow serialized into a bookmark system like delicious. maybe javascriptlets/greasemonkey to save particular state of each tab beyond simply url, so i could use my sessions from any computer. ANY POSSIBILITY ON THIS FEATURE?

- don't like default setting of saving previous session and older sessions. like a clean list of sessions i've saved plus at most a previous crashed session

I've been wanting something like this for months but until now haven't taken the time to actually see if it existed. I found Session Manager and it's like a weight has been lifted off my chest. My browser is now complete. Thank you.

I've looked at the settings and told it to automatically open the last session, but it still opens the prompt for which session.

The sessions listed include 'current browsing session' and 'previous browsing session' both of which have not date/time and no tab count. I'd rather they all show the same and be sorted by date, most recent first :)

Thanks

My vote should be 10, but I have only a little need:
I'd like very mutch that Session Manager uses current session name as default name when I click on save button. In fact, I use it as an evolution of bookmarks, saving navigation session per argument. So, when I proceed with navigation and I find a new interesting page, I add it to the current session (i.e. Modern history, or Delphi programming and so on): it's annoyance to have browse through saved session names to find the actual one.

Yeah! really awesome. It perfectly stimulates the IEPro7 for IE and recovers everything cause Firefox doesn't have such ability. ESSENTIAL

While browsing the web, I realized that Firefox freezes, so I decided to close it down until I remembered that I wrote a very wrong e-mail. Before running Firefox, I then decided to condition my self to type that long e-mail again. But thanks to this plug-in, the long e-mail that I typed was recovered!

Does what it claims and does it well.

Thanks, guys!

While I recognise that this is perhaps too complex for the default install of Firefox I highly recommend it to anyone who wishes more control over their web sessions.

Just started using this but it does what I want it to do. If I'm working on research or browsing of a certain topic I enjoy having many websites open to compare info. I have yet to have it crash on me but will see how it performs. But on any computer it's better to save often ESPECIALLY when it's critical and a lot is at stake.

I would LOVE to see the "Session Manager" on the main menu tab next to the "Tools" drop down menu, instead of a option below the "Tools" menu.

Thanks! Great extension add-on!

Works very well, especially when I had some crashing. One of my most useful add ons.

Session Manager DOES WORK as advertised. I just opened 2 windows with 10 tabs each and caused Firefox to crash and Session Manager successfully restored all 10 tabs in both windows.

Since you are the only person (out of over 300,000 downloads) who claims that the crash recovery functionality isn't working, my guess is that instead of choosing to restore the crashed session, you restored an older session. Even if you did so, the crash session is still saved and you could have restored it.

If Session Manager didn't work, there would be a lot more people complaining here and in the support forum. Instead of calling for the extension to be removed, you should have posted in the support forum.

By the way, Firefox 2.0 has built in crash recovery for restoring tabs open on a crash. Session Manager just adds the ability to save and restore session and the ability to restore different sessions on a crash. If all you want is the ability to recover the last session on a crash, you don't need to install any extensions (Session Saver, Session Manager or otherwise).

Really useful little program. Great for saving a selection of pages on certain topics and after windows gives up on you!
