Which version of Provider for Google Calendar is for Thunderbird 10 ESR? It's confusing. The very old 0.13 says "Works with ... 8.0a1 & later" & 0.18pre says "8.0a1 & later", with everything in between saying they're for later versions of Thunderbird than 10.

There seems to be no way to contact the author, the only thing I could find was Philipp Kewisch's Twitter, which he didn't answer, and here.

I am a TB user since the early days. When the calender came up, I was happy. But the calender keeps making trouble, as bi-directional writing to Google Calendar is and dismissing of reminders keeps to be worrysome.
I hate using another application to run a cross-platform calendar... If this presists, the value of TB will be greatly reduced. A pity.

I am using two phase login to goggle calendar.
When I try to add my google calendar to Thunderbird / Lightning addition with this addition, I accept Login window, but I am not able to pass to the second phase login.
Windows 7, Thunderbird 16.0.1, Lightningh 1.8, Provider for Google Calendar 017
Can you advice me?

It used to be quite good untill they removed reminders for group events.
You can add as many reminders as you wish in google callendar but they don't sync so I would not call it exactly bidirectional either. This is a long lasting problem and I was forced to stop using thunderbird (That happens when you miss meetings or are late for them all the time...) The interface to accept meeting reqeuests should be intergrated in lightning. I get mail invites when they are accepted it should do the same as the plugin acceptation method. Perhaps this is a limitation of lightning as you can not set on what callendar it should accept invites. It is nessesary for decent integration though.

Conclusion: Works great if you are a simple home user and want to organize private things. Completely useless in a bussiness. Needs a lot of work.

I have found this add-on useful and have not had any problems with it until now. The add-on requires Lightning and I have version 1.7, but I think it was written for Lightning 1.8. Lightning 1.8 is not compatible with Thunderbird 15.0.1 which is the latest version available from Canonical, who makes installer packages for Ubuntu that can be installed on other builds of Linux. My installation and operating system are also 64 bit versions.

Version 0.18pre feels fast and snappy now. Thank you for a great little extension that helps keep life more-or-less organized :)

I have been using this addon for quite a long time and I am very happy about it. However in the past 10 days, I have been experiencing problems: TB hangs upon opening and waking up from sleep, under OS X. TB works perfectly with this app disabled. I am not sure. Too bad, the addon is really useful. Let me know if you need more info.

Right now, the add-on is practically useless for me since it interferes with Outlook invitations - as long as the add-on is active, I can't accept Outlook Meeting Invites :-(

This add-on has worked pretty well for me since many years, up until the recent freeze/hang issue with TB15/Lightning 1.7. While I'm sure it will be resolved promptly, this has been the occasion for me to try the built-in caldav support in TB/Lightning. So far, so good, it's been 5 days that I've been using my various Google calendars on TB/Lightning (on Windows & Linux) with caldav support (so without the Google calendar provider add-on) and everything is working fine!

For more info, see these instructions: http://support.google.com/calendar/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=99358#sunbird

It's great to have this kind of alternative built-in support. Of course, the Google calendar provider add-on still rocks! (...and it should definitively be implemented directly in Lightning IMHO, as it is a little bit more easier to configure than caldav.)

TO EVERYBODY HAVING FREEZING/HANGING ISSUES AFTER UPGRADING TO LIGHTNING 7.0/TB 15.0/PROVIDER 0.16:

JUST WAIT FOR IT TO UNFREEZE, AND IT WILL WORK AFTER THAT.

Apparently the "Cache" option is what is causing the program to freeze. BUT, I think what is happening is that the program is copying all the online data to a local file, and that is what is causing your program to hang. I tried on two computers and eventually both unfroze and worked perfectly!

Shortly after I posted this review there was an update to roll back to Version .013. This fixed the problem and hopefully it will stay fixed. I am turning off auto update to avoid future problems before checking on new versions.

I updated Thunderbird today and had to update Lightning. I have been using this sync program for over a year with no problem. Today, my calendar has lost all of my events and I am unable to add any events. Something is seriously wrong and needs to be fixed. I have done with has been suggested - turn off cache, reload the plug in for the sync. Nothing. I am now without a calendar and there seems to be no replacement anywhere. Lightning is now useless to me. Again something needs to be fixed here. Fix the problem promptly and I will rate this plug in a 5 and change this review. Until then stay away from this plug in - and Lightning if you need to sync with Google Calendar.

Like others I have run into trouble with TB 15 freezing with this version .16 of the addon. If I turn Provider for Google Calendar's cache off, all is well. Once this is fixed, this addon gets a 5

The Cache option, screws up the calendar! I like to have Cache option enabled to use calendar offline. But it does not work - was working fine in 0.13 and with 0.16 update it just messed it up.

The concept of this is great and thunderbird desperately needs something like this but the performance issues that go along with this are NOT made up by the convenience that it offers. I initially wrote these problems off on the fact that I used to use it in linux but now that I'm in windows 7 with a new intel I7 and 8GB of ram it's obviously not the machine or the OS. Everytime this plugin checks on the google servers to sync the calendars thunderbird goes unresponsive for sometimes up to 30 seconds. I have very busy calendars sometimes dozens of meetings per day and dozens of weekly meetings that recur weekly forever. This plugin needs some serious optimization if it is going to ever be useable by us business users

All you have to do is to install Lightning, Install this add on, get your Google calendar XML url, and then add it. It is extremely easy to use, and it works flawlessly.

Thanks for making such an awesome add-on. :)
