but it's not so clear that you see the applications only when using context menu.

Works perfectly on Windows but doesn't work on Mac :(
Does not detect any application installed on Mac, even if checked the checkbox.
Also created launchy.xml in chrome directory with the following xml:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<configurations xmlns="http://launchy.mozdev.org/configurations">
<application>
<label>Safari</label>
<type>1</type>
<command>open /Volumes/Macintosh/Applications/Safari.app/</command>
</application>
</configurations>
This does not work as well. Always says "Launchy is disabled! No supported applications installed."

For Linux users unhandy, cause one have to edit a .xml-file again and again.
Is there a other way to reload the launchy.xml then restart the whole FF?
Can u provide a reload-XML-button?

I installed this solely to be able to launch links in my TB e-mails in Firefox when I want to do so (my default browser is Chrome). However, Launchy cannot seem to find my Firefox installation on its own, and adding a special launchy.xml file into my TB chrome folder does nothing. If it makes a difference, I am using Windows 7, x64. Any chance this issue can be resolved?

For months I was trying to strings together addons parts in order to have something that would open and edit a pic (or any other file with any of their related program) for example) with Gimp, with no success at all, while having this addon right here.
This addon works beyond my expectation. All this addon needs is more exposure on the addon's homepage (It would have saved me a lot of time and effort if did)
This addon is great. All I have to edit in the xml you gave as example was the path and the number type, click save, restart firefox and its done; everything is in the context menu, ready to work:)
Its a 10 stars above those five.
Thx

I cannot get this to work on Ubuntu 10.04. It auto-detects nothing. I assume it should?

I added this add-on but it doesn't work. It says it installed version 4.4. In About it reports 4.3. I created the xml file with the generator on the web site (not very handy) but still it complains that it is disabled and no app has been defined. Bug or missing MAC OS support!?

This has always been a great addon for TB, but even with today's 4.3 update it's not working at all in TB 3. Thanks.

Love this addon :) But if you ever decide to update I'd really like to see these features:
1) quick/easy access to launchy.xml
For example, under Options > Launchy.xml
you could have the following options:
->Create
->Open Folder
->Launch Launchy.xml in notepad
2) Allowing "custom" application type.
For example,
"custom": doesn't pass any arguments explicitly (requires user to pass arguments).
->myscript.vbs %current-url% -myparameters
->explorer %chromedir%
->notepad %chromedir%\launchy.xml

I downloaded this to handle the mailto links that Firefox doesn't natively support.
I get it installed and make sure it lists Thunderbird as enabled. Click on a mailto link and nothing happens at all.
What is the use of this program?

I was really happy with Launchy, sending links between Thunderbird, Firefox 2 (and Flock 1, through the launchy.xml feature).
Under Thunderbird 2, Firefox 3 and Flock 2, it appears that launching to other browsers has stopped working. I've reported this at https://www.mozdev.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=20861 .
It seems as though some other features (e.g. launching an image into XnView) still work. Launching from Firefox into Opera or Internet Explorer seems to have stopped.
When searching bugs, it's possible that there may be conflict between Launchy and Tabs Mix Plus, which I can't confirm to deny, as disabling Tabs Mix Plus hasn't helped.
This is a great Firefox add-on that would be great again with some relatively minor maintenance (by a professional developer who knows what he/she is doing ... and that unfortunately isn't me!)

I use firefox but sometimes an application would only work in IE. I thus needed something that would just forward the page to IE. This does exactly that. Maybe it does something else too, but I am already satisfied with what it does so far.

Even with much fiddling, i can't get the damned thing to work right. It will open the current page in a new app fine, but it just doesn't do anything with links.

Used to like this a lot- thanks to the author. It's now become poor sadly and I've removed it. I think it's clashing with Flash or other temporary stored material.
If you are wanting to send (launch) an image then try Image Assistant https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/790 That is excellent. It previews the image in WIndows's image viewer and then you can right click to edit in Paint.
I'm also using the old Send To http://mfe.gorgias.de/ for sending text to Notepad. You have to disable FF's checking compatibility but it works perfectly. I've not found an Addon that was as well.
What are other people using? :-)

Launchy doesn't work on every link. :-(
Somebody got a tip?
