the addon works only of you disable the hook "delay at start" in the preferences. otherwise there is no prompt at all and no mails can be loaded

Latest version of Thunderbird (38.2.0) pops up too many times for master password. I decided to use this add-on and now thunderbird asks me only one time for the master password. Up until now I have had no problems with this add-on, it works great!

Loading of Thunderbird takes a minute even from SSD, so I'll concentrate on something else. I'm using Lightning with multiple accounts and get in the current Version (38.1.0) 4-5 master password input boxes. And when I'm not paying attention and do not enter the master password for a while the server connection might time out.
This add-on fixes these problems. Only one prompt directly after starting Thunderbird without delay.
So simple and so so effective!

Thank you

Originally I just wanted to try it out, but the add-on just couldn't let me go. It wouldn't uninstall. Gone from the add-ons page, but the pop up stuck around. I eventually had to uninstall firefox and delete the local user appdata (on all accounts?) just to get the damn thing off. Might have been something I'd use in a different setting, but with this problem... no. Just no. To top it off I had to deal with this during finals week, so you get a permanent 1 star. I will not change it, I will not delete it. Good day, sir/ma'am.

İşini gerçekten iyi yapıyor. Belirlediğiniz parola veya şifre olamdan firefox'u sizden başka kimse açamaz.

Works perfectly! Adds, or rather corrects something which you would expect to find in ThunderBird by default.

@Arty2:
In FireFox, the only use of the master password is to protect the other passwords. The FF version of this add-on basically extends that use to have it restrict access to the program itself. You are right that this is easily circumvented.

In ThunderBird, the master password is used by default to restrict access to the entire program. You can't circumvent it, even if you would disable this add-on.

Does what it advertises, however it doesn't protect you in any way, since it's just a plugin and plugins can be disabled without access to browser.

Holding Shift while clicking to open Firefox, will force Safe Mode, which disables all plugins including this one, yet cookies and logins are still accessible.

Don't get me wrong, it might fool the fools, but it's not enough for actual security.

It is good because it does not let you open Thunderbird unless you enter your master password. However, you have to tick the associated box first. It is on Thunderbird > add-on title.

Perfect fix for the Lightning bug that triggers numerous master password prompts on startup. Just a single popup on TB 31.
