Completely new review (after the one I did on 2008-06-18):

Still a great addon. Bug 19354 (incorrect cursor position after middle-click) -- https://www.mozdev.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=19354 -- no longer occurs. But I reported bug 19353 (when reselecting the same text, nothing is copied to the clipboard) -- https://www.mozdev.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=19353 -- more than a year ago with a patch, and it is still not fixed.

Also, auto-copying from the address bar still doesn't work.

Zeus Swe, I don't understand your comment concerning the search box. That's true there's a problem, though. I currently need to do the following:
1. Copy the search text to the clipboard.
2. Left-click in the search box.
3. Type [Backspace] to clear the current text.
4. Middle-click in the search box to paste the text copied in Step 1.
It would be great if one could skip Step 3.

I also got it working. Go to http://jerryfardons.blogspot.com --you'll have to download 7zip freeware also. Once you have it right click on the download extension link on the jerryfardons page.I then clicked save link location. Then I right clicked and opened it with 7zip. Then I opened the archive. Then chose to edit the archive. Then looked for 3.0b5 and changed it to 3.0. It was maybe a quarter way down on the page to the left. Then saved it and when I reopened the link (page) it installed perfectly.

For Firefox 3 download the file:

http://w1.uploadmb.com/dw.php?id=1213831004&/auto_copy-0.8-fx.xpi

Drag and drop the downloaded file onto a firefox window to start the install.

There was a wrong version number in the file.
Here is my fix:

Now it works with FF3.

I used this method and now have my AutoCopy back on FF3. Works fine with no apparent side effects. (If you want this extension to work for firefox 3 download http://www.mrtech.com/extensions/local_install/ and when you install AutoCopy check the "override 'max version' compatability checking" checkbox. It works fine!)

Instalati MRTech de la adresa indicata si dupa repornire alegeti sa fortati compatibilitatea.La mine merge perfect.

Thoroughly came to depend on this when I was running it in FF2. The ease of highlighting a clip of text and having it automatically copied to the clipboard started to 'spoil' me and I found myself highlighting text in other non-FF apps and expecting the same behavior. Just goes to show you how well this add-on can enhance your user habits. Can't get the new version to install in FF3 though, keeping getting a "AutoCopy 0.8 could not be installed because it is not compatible with Firefox 3.0." error message.

Fantastic addon, but:
update site refers to autocopy.mozdev.org which still claims latest version is 0.64, not 0.8. For this reason, the 0.8 update is also not automatically found for returning users. Would be great if this could be fixed.

This is a fantastic program which I use daily in my work and for fun. Please make it Firefox 3 compatible soon. And thanks so much for the great program. Much appreciated.

First, follow the instructions in this link: http://jerryfardons.blogspot.com --you'll have to download 7zip (freeware) in order to open the .xpi file.

Then, once it's installed (you'll need to tell Windows to open the file with Firefox), go to the options and UNCHECK the copy as plain text option -- because that hasn't been updated for FF 3 yet (if ever). Restart the browser and Autocopy will work as great(ly) as ever.
