vasyabelkin is correct about my old review being not entirely right, although, I must say that it would certainly be nice if this came with a few more instructions on how to use it.
I don't know how I discovered that buttons could be edited by right clicking them, on my own, but if I had to guess, it's probably because I'm customizing my toolbars so much that eventually I got one of the buttons.
I find this to be actually extremely useful now, and one of my best add-ons I have. The number one thing that bothers me still is that the primary coding that the buttons are written in is JavaScript for XUL, and you haven't mentioned this explicitly.

The "Browser" button in editor did not work on Firefox 7 :-(
Error: uncaught exception: [Exception... Work excellently with Firefox 8.0a1. Finally I can give my favorite bookmarklets icons and save lot of space in the bookmarks toolbar. The only problem is that I don't know how to back up my buttons in case of reinstalling OS.

This extension has really opened up my usage of Firefox. I now have a whole bunch of useful buttons, even complete tool kits all organised on dropdown menus so that in fact I only need ONE toolbar to cover every option and extension and button that I have. (Currently over 150).The number of buttons available has increased a lot recently as has the amount of help and information available. If you want to completely revolutionise the way your firefox works for you - this is the way! What stylish does for appearance - this extension does for functionality.

Excellent!
I created individual buttons for places I go to often..
I used images from my own PC so the button is easily identifiable.
If you aren't sure how to create a new button, go to the developer's pages.
I "borrowed" some basic buttons, which I then was able to modify...creating my own. :)
I didn't have to learn anything difficult, and if you just need need basic "click the button, go here" capability, then Custom Buttons is fine.
You *CAN* get more complex control of your buttons, if you WISH, but creating a simple button is... well... very simple.

This is my favorite add-on. Many times a Custom Button can do what an installed Add-On does. A button basically uses your computer's resources (CPU and RAM) when it is clicked as opposed to many installed Add-Ons that take up resources when Firefox loads. This Add-On works fine for me in FF 3.6, FF 4, FF 5, and FF 6.0a2. The Custom Buttons Forum here:
"http://custombuttons.mozdev.org/drupal/forum/1" is the most helpful forum to which I belong. The members
there have consistently reply to my questions very promptly (sometimes within minutes of my posting). They are very willing to share their knowledge of button creation with others. Buttons created by members of that forum can be found here:

Way too difficult to make buttons. There should be a simple click and point interface to add new buttons.

Very good add-on to manage repetitive tasks in Thunderbird. Need better documentation though.

This might be useful, but I can't tell because there is not even the SLIGHTEST clue on what code is needed for the buttons. I went to the forums for the add-on... where there appears to be many posts there which may or may not be helpful... but who knows? All I see is page numbers, post counts... and nothing to click on to actually VIEW any of the posts.

This is great! I'm using with "Vertical Toolbar", perfect combination!
For people complaining about having to know how to program to use this extension, there is a forum on the developer's site where you can find a lot of pre-made useful buttons.

How about premade buttons for common actions. What about a line for the URL of the action you want to perform. This could be as simple as the path to an executable or http or chrome path. This is a programmers addon. I simply wanted to add my address book to my email toolbar in Seamonkey. When I tried to log in to the forum, it asks for my username. I thought they had unified signin for all Mozilla sites. I can't read the captcha. Not all this is due to the addon, but it's just frustration upon frustration.

Can anyone tell me what the differences are between Custom Buttons² and Custom Buttons, and why not have just one of them since they both seem to do pretty much the same thing?

I went to the website listed http://xsms.nm.ru/custombuttons/en/ and it tried to AUTOMATICALLY DOWNLOAD something. I am assuming this extension. That is NOT cool. Now I have no interest in even knowing about it.
