as said previously, Firefox start is slow due to Custom Buttons and possibly Classic Theme Restorer (deactivated on mine)
thanks for the temporary solution, waiting for official update

I would bet than all who encounter slow start in FF 44 has also Classic Theme Restorer installed. According to my testing
Custom Buttons starts fast in FF 44 when I disable Classic Theme Restorer and vice-versa.
UPDATE: this fix slow starting of Custom Buttons:

Have been using and liked a lot. But the buttons get scattered after updating to Firefox 43 beta 1.

Dear authors,
thank you for an excellent addon, which is a lifesaver for thousands!
But what future does it have in view of announced changes to Firefox regarding XUL removal ?

The forums frequently have foul behavior, the site frequently goes down, a big portion of the buttons don't work- but still there are many goodies to be had.
IMO that still is enough to merit 4 stars for the capabilities that users can gain.

The idea is great and I found istantly the button/code I was searching for.
Buttons can work or not, but it's due changes in firefox (and often, in CB site, it says what versions are supported)

Is it possible to import a button that was previously created as a .xml file (from Google Toolbar for example) ? ? I have a few like that and when add on signing is mandatory, I will likely lose Google Toolbar (but I do have all the buttons I use saved on my computer)
Thanks

It's an excellent, must-have extension! One of the most helpful forums too (http://custombuttons.sourceforge.net/forum/index.php) where people do actually help any newbie or a pro. Sometimes might need to wait a day for an answer - no prob, i guess it means those people are alive and have better things to do than hang in forums 24/7 ;-)
But they ALWAYS answer and help.
A new sortable database with hundreds of buttons (https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/57898370/CB%20Database/.CB_Database.html). If you find one there that doesn't work, just link to it in the forum and somebody will fix it or will make a new button for you.
To all the 'nay' sayres, I see all that 'not working!' whining comes from people who couldn't even figure AMO is not a place for posting bugs, the extension forum is (read this site review guide just above your review textbox(!): "...Please do not post bug reports in reviews..."). Or people who appear pretty impatient, like their life depends on some browser button!
To the rest: this is one of those extensions that makes your browsing uncounted times better, saves time, space, clicks and makes you smile!

After spending hours looking for an addon that lets me switch between global zoom levels on all tabs and none of them working the way I needed, I came across this addon.
I visited the forum and found that someone had already made a similar button to the one I needed. I installed it (which was blissfully easy) and spent about 5 minutes editing the code (again easy, in the built-in editor). Now I have a button that does exactly what I need.
I am seriously blown away.
Mozilla should make this a featured plugin, it's so powerful, useful and well made.
Thank you so much.

Отличный аддон! Хотелось бы, однако, одной вещи: записи присвоенных кнопкам горячих клавиш в keyconfigе, чтобы их можно было там редактировать, добавлять и удалять.

My first experience with the script code we can use on a custom button made me think we can create many useful things! thanks!

Most buttons broken for firefox 33, attribute inspector is the only button that actually works.. all past buttons worked fine in firefox 26. Also the custombuttons.sourceforge.net/forum seems to be maintained by people who barely fucking visit the place, so seems pointless registering or posting by the time anyone there actually enables the account or post firefox will probably be at version 535 and look and work like total crap

I wanted to make some custom buttons, such as "the second homepage".
(There are 2 sites that I use very often, so 1 Homepage button is not enough. Super Start plugin is great, but not equally handy. And I just don't want whole Bookmark toolbar to be on screen).
So I have found this plugin and have read how to program it:
http://custombuttons.sourceforge.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=986
Works charmingly :).
Спасибо, Ян! Thanx, cubegm, SCClockDr!
PS. After updating FF from 27 to 28.0, the button disappeared.
Can it be done so that it remains when FF updates?

opotschi - author couldn't have been more clear about reporting problems: "If you have found a bug, don't complain here, but try to explain it here http://sourceforge.net/p/custombuttons/tickets if you want to have it fixed" It makes it easier for the rest of us if you follow directions. thanks.

1.) There is no user guide, or: where is it?
2.) I created a button "Send Later" (CTRL & SHIFT & ENTER) for the message composition window. Did not work with Thunderbird 24.3.0.
3.) The key combination CTRL & SHIFT & ENTER still works ok.
4.) https://www.mozdev.org/projects/overview/custombuttons/ ends with "latest" version 0.0.5.5 (instead of 0.0.5.7) which seems to be dated 28.06.11(see, e.g., http://custombuttons.mozdev.org/) ??!!.
