One hard to find and little spoken about feature that I think makes this a great add-on is the "hybrid" signature. This is where you can offer different signatures for HTML or Plain Text in the same file.
Basically it goes::
Plain Text
=
HTML
This is so useful as you can include images and detailed HTML styling and know that plain text readers will still see a nice clean signature.
Unfortunately Thunderbird doesn't support this so if you have the signature switched on by default in the Account Settings you see both versions. My one criticism of this Add-on is that it deals with Plain/HTML Signatures differently to how Thunderbird natively handles them which can be confusing at first. Especially as Thunderbird doesn't make it easy to switch between HTML and Plain Text email formatting. Using both methods without the hybrid signature means you either have no line breaks in one or extra <br>s in the other.

I am in agreement with the previous posts. The fact that the signature can not be placed 'above quote, below text' as can be natively set it Thunderbird, makes what would otherwise be a nearly perfect app unusable. With that modification, this app would top my list, as custom signatures for new mail, replies, and forwards are SADLY lacking in the Thunderbird client. What a shame. :-(

Same as snif: "Cannot put a signature under my text ABOVE quote. Excellent idea, unfortunately useless for me."
TOO BAD !
Please add this feature and I'll give you 5 stars.

Using TB for work AND private mail, I whould like to see an option to set the signature depending on the sender, not the "to"

While I like this add-on, there is one thing I don't like about it, however. It always adds "from sig sw" above my signatures. I would like to eliminate that, but cannot find any way to do so.

There's no reason to delay upgrading TB to the last version. You can find a TB7-compatible version on the developer's site.
A very useful add-on. It would be still greater if it could auto-detect the language used in the e-mail and select the right signature accordingly.

I use this add-on all the time. I love the flexibility it gives me to have several signatures at my finger tips for both professional and personal emails. Thank you very much.

I have many signatures over three accounts, and I use this add-on all the time.
I am hoping for Tbird 7 compatibility, and holding off upgrading Tbird.
I read the FAQ and I understand why the developer doesn't want to make it possible to put the signature where so many of us want to put the signature. I want to put the signature there, too, but I do appreciate that the developer has his reasons for not wanting to do it.

Excellent... but not yet compatible with TB v7 :(

It is a great add-on, and I use it everyday.
However, after I upgrade TB to 6.0.2. I encounters one bug. When I forward an email, as soon as I type in the 2nd email address at the To/CC field, it cuts off the inline content of the original email (the thread below the immediate inline content is still there.). I concluded that it is the interaction between Signature Switch and TB 6.0.2 because this problem goes away if I turn off Signature Switch. This only happens for forwarding.
I wish that I did not upgrade to TB 6.0.2 (also does not like the fact that 6.0.2 changed some of short-cut key combinations, nor like their new default color theme). However, that's what I' stuck with. Hope there is a quick fix on the way. I can not find where to report bug, so I'm writing a review here.
Thanks.

I'm definitely not a coder...so i'm cluless as to what goes into making an add-on. Having said that, I do applaud the effort with signature swift, but have to agree with some of the negative comments. Please remember Achim, that most (i think..if not all) of us have migrated from MS outlook etc. and really want to stay with TB...but we've got used to the "creature comforts" of using a really flexible editor & signature tool. I had no less than 10 signatures in outlook (for different suppliers with varying accout#'s, as well as clients - some with a grahic). I too am accustomed to have my signature above the quote ..and didn't realize it wasn't possible with signature switch until i read the reviews. (I was/am still fighting to get my formatted signature in - without code stuff when i googled for info and came accross these reviews). I know some of the criticisms may seem ungrateful but its because we all want so badly to see TB really "fly" !
I'm running Thunderbird 3.1.13
Hi rboothe,
thanks for your comment.
Well... I'm fully aware that many users out there are migrating from M$ Outlook to Thunderbird.
And in general I'm glad to hear that. ;-)
But I really wonder why people tend to think that it's my "duty" to deliver an add-on that fills the gap to Outlook's feature-list or replicates the missing functionality to match Outlook's workflow.
That was and will never be my intention.
It's not like the extension is called "Outlook-like signatures for TB" or "_THE_ All-In-One Signature-Tool".
And I certainly didn't advertise for that.
I just try to offer a RFC-compliant signature add-on which addresses certain issues.
If it does the job for you... fine. If it doesn't... fine aswell.
Like I said a thousand times before: I never forced anyone to use my add-on... and I never charged a single dime for using it!
Constructive criticism is always welcome. Really. :-) But only if it concerns MY work and helps to improve things.
So please... don't blame me if Outlook had better signature handling and/or my extension doesn't deliver what Thunderbird initially should (in your opinion)!
But if you believe that giving a low(er) rating just because "Signature Switch" can't compete with Outlook in terms of (cite) "creature comforts" (/cite) is okay... well... then go ahead. :o)
Thanks,
Achim

To all those who are wanting to put the text wherever they want: Try Quicktext. Right now only the beta version works with tb 5.0
I've use the previous versions for years, works great.

A "must have" extension. Simple to use and configure. The automatic selection by addressee or list works well.
