I've used IEView in my company since the first versions it worked well ever. But now we are having problems with this case:

- Start Firefox only with one page opened
- Click a link on this page that activates IEView
- The link is opened in a IExplorer and Firefox closes
- Isn't possible to start Firefox because a firefox.exe process is still runing

Firefox 13 and IEView 1.5.1

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.5.1.1-signed.1-signed).  This user has 2 previous reviews of this add-on.

I like this very useful add-on and will use it furthermore in my standard Firefox 12.Now I realize a incompatibility in my portable Nightly Firefox 14.0a1: since the 14.0a1-update with date april 22, 2012 "Ie View" stopps all my bookmarks to open. When I disable it all bookmarks workin again - enable... no bookmarks working.Doesn't bother me 'cause this add-on is anyway not marked as compatible with Firefox above version 12.Guess some day compatibility will be made.
Now (after 1.5.1) with adware - I do not allow an update anymore

Please see https://github.com/paulroub/ieview/issues/28 for the bug report, and a link to a test build which should solve your problem. Please let me know over there how it works for you.

Context menu entries needs to be context sensitive, instead of always being visible. Apart from that great addon.

EDIT: most likely a problem with my own FF config. Updated rating. Plus a 6th star for an excelent costumer support.
I'm amazed to see such dedication to an addon which has been around since the beginning of Firefox!
Thank you Paul!

Can you email me (paul@roub.net) with details on what you're seeing vs. what you expect? I've received one similar complaint, but haven't been able to verify or reproduce the problem. If there's an issue, I'd love to get it fixed.

Says it won't work on my platform (9.0.1) but it does and very well. I use it mainly for web pages that won't render for whatever reason in FF.

Does what it claims BUT you can also set it up with other browsers like Chrome. This I do like.

I was a little disappointed with the app as I expected it to parse the html with a more relaxed DOCTYPE. Loading another browser is a little like cheating. But it works.

Works fine in Firefox 8.

Used this one often, in fact, wouldn't have installed Firefox 8 had I known this version was incompatible.

And noted as such here... but Firefox has trouble noticing that the compatibility details have been updated, particularly right after a major release when the servers are busy. If you remove the add-on and reinstall from here, all should be fine (even though nothing has really changed).

I've uploaded a 1.4.5.2 version just to kick Firefox into grabbing the update, but it's not yet approved.

I use this extension regularly since there are still so many IE specific sites out there. Notwithstanding the Seamonkey 2.2 warning it works fine there. Just use the About:Config trick of adding a new false boolean called extensions.checkCompatibility.2.2

I have a number of business applications that do not work properly in Firefox. I have searched for a separate windows application that acts as a URL broker (i.e., that registers itself as the default browser and then sends URL requests to one of a number of installed browsers) but to no avail. (But if anyone knows of such a thing please let me know!)

This plug-in is the next best thing, particularly as I tend to leave FF running all the time (so no startup costs).

A couple of improvements could be made though:
1) I use IE 8, and despite the browser's settings to open new pages as tabs within the existing browser, this plug-in always opens a new IE8 window. Fixing this would be a bigger plus than it sounds!
2) There seems to be a little bit of processing going on in FF before the page redirects to IE. Almost as if the hook is taking place AFTER the initial page is loaded but before it is rendered. If this is the case please change it to do the redirect before any loading occurs.

I used this add on for a really long time, and love it! BUT it doesn't work with FF5. I hope an update will be coming soon. I will wait.....

Muy fácil de usar. Simplemente se escriben las direcciónes que uno quiere que se abran automáticamente en IE y listo.

Since I updated to Firefox 4.0 some functions of IE View have stopped working. For example [Open in Internet Explorer] function, simply does nothing. I have to open the page in Firefox and then do [View this page in IE]. I miss that function very much, especially at my workplace.

Great Extension. I've been using it for years. It annoys the hell out of me when someone designs a website that will "only work with Internet Explorer". (There's a special place in hell for those web developers.) With IE View, I can just go back to the referring page and right click on the link. I only wish that there was a version of IE View to work in Thunderbird. I tried installing it and got a "not compatible" error. I haven't tried "forcing" it by editing the rdf file. If it works, I'll let people know.

[EDIT - adding Thunderbird to the install.rdf file will allow the install to proceed, but it does NOT make IE View work in Thunderbird. In fact, IE View doesn't even show up in the list of installed extensions, so I can't remove it. Hmmm..... Cause for concern?]

I always install this add-on. Very convenient and simple to use. A must-have to handle pages created for IE / ActiveX.

Was just wondering how difficult it would be to create a similar one for Chrome?

Great extension BUT as there's no more 'Tools' menu with Firefox 4 there's no way now to set a page to always open in IE

It would be perfect if it would allow you to open pages in IE 8 InPrivate Mode.
