This is a great addon for thunderbird/lightning. It also works quite well for if using 3rd party Task Gadgets such as RTM or Toodledo. It works behind a corporate firewall, where I have had issues with the google provider or caldav solutions.

I like having my calendar in thunderbird. This eliminates the subtle incompatibilities with lightning and Google Calendar.
