I actually prefer using this plugin to using a real ftp client. Love it.

Used to use this a lot. Tip: do not save passwords - too risky. If you get hacked this is a potential vulnerability. Remember those passwords - or write them down on a scrap of paper. Hackers cannot read bits of paper in your pocket.

only version 2.0.7 work with FF 18.02
version 2.0.11 and 2.0.13 dont work
i lose all my ftp accounts and passwords ;(
Sorry that you've run into this issue. The new version of FireFTP is doing migration of an old account format to a new one. Unfortunately, there are some illegal characters that make it difficult to upgrade to the new format that Mozilla now requires. (specifically, the combination of trying to convert international characters and the '%' character creates problems).
If 2.0.7 isn't working for you, you can try the following:
find your profile folder, here are instructions: http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-where-firefox-stores-user-data (if you're on a Mac it'll be under: ~/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles)
find the file in your profile folder called fireFTPsites.dat
remove the '%' characters found in the file.
remove any characters that start with \x,
remove any characters that might have umlauts (like ä)
install version 2.0.7 and readd the % characters back in later as needed. (not directly into the file, but via the regular FireFTP interface).
The same applies for the files you're trying to import. If you have further issues, email me http://nightlight.ws/mime/about/contact and I'll help further.
Again, sorry for the inconvenience,
Mime

Does not work with OpenWRT, connects, but does not display files, just an empty box. While another plugin FireSSH works with OpenWRT without problems.
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.0.11.1-signed).This has been addressed on the GitHub issue as a problem with the OpenWRT server, not FireFTP.

Bonjour!

Hi!
This app is awesome and I use it since few years.Today, it doesn't work anymore. The fireftp's tab is just empty. A strange thing I've noticed : when I open the fireftp's menu in the plugin information's tab of firefox, the fireftp's tab refresh but is still unusable (impossible to select an account to connect with).
Thanks for support!
PS : both firefox and fireftp are updated
PPS : back to 2.0.7 make it work !

Hi,I Updated to 2.0.10 the other day, this has removed the chain link icon. But I'm still unable to upload or download any files. It has now been two weeks I've been without fireFTP and this is causing me serious problems (harassment from the boss). Please if anyone could give me any help. This is the error that keeps coming up:Error message= ReferenceError: trans is not definedURL= chrome://fireftp/content/js/etc/dragDrop.jsLine Number= 40
Any help appreciated.
After looking at other posts regarding version 2.0.10, I have just re-installed version 2.0.7. I now have my ftp back up and running. I hope this helps anyone else who are still having problems.
Julianne
Hello Julianne,
Thanks for the bug report - I will try to get this fixed in the next version. You can track progress here: https://github.com/mimecuvalo/fireftp/issues/13

2.0.10 not working. Previous versions did. Getting an error after connecting to a site. Not happening when I use my separate FTP client. Doesn't seem to be anywhere to report this problem, or else I would.
Here's the error:
Error message= NS_ERROR_ABORT: Component returned failure code: 0x80004004 (NS_ERROR_ABORT) [nsIOutputStream.write]URL= chrome://fireftp/content/js/connection/baseProtocol.jsLine Number= 1031I went back to 2.0.7 and it works.
Edit to respond to Mime:
Files are displaying in the directory (list on right), but I couldn't upload a file to it. I don't know if refresh helps. I'm using 2.0.7 right now.
Hello Steve,
Thanks for the bug report - so when you connect you don't get anything showing up in the list on the right? If you hit the refresh button does it help?

Came back to amend my rating after the update misfire. The dev responded to our concern, and immediately fixed the problem! Please accept this apology for giving a poor rating on account of my frustration. That was not fair to you, nor was it a fair rating of this client. FireFTP has served me well, and it should be noted as such. Thanks!
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.0.7.1-signed).Not a problem - thanks for your patience and understanding with the hiccup! :)

Solution is quite easy, desinstall 2.09 and reinstall 2.07 and it will work. All your data will be kept.

Works very well except one feature: the date/time of the files are not preserved even when «Keep TimeStamp» is selected, on the sites I have to manage (with two different providers), This is an essential feature for me so that I can synchronize folders. This is why I use only FileZilla, which does preserve the dates and time of files corretly.

I had problems with Fire ftp not working with Firefox 18.0.1
...but that was when I was trying to get it working through the add-on screen/ menu.
What I ended up doing to get it working was to google "fire ftp download" then I downloaded it and installed it outside of Firefox. Now Fire ftp works great. Thankfully, I'm a college student in a web design class and I really needed the ftp. Thanks, design team, I'll be donating.

I've been using this great add-on for years. Now, after updating to FF 18.0.1, the top toolbar of FireFTP doesn't work at all. I can't access my saved passwords. Also, when I click on each of menu item, on 'tools' sub-menu, none of them opens anything. I'm using FF on Win 7 64bit.

Been using FireFTP for years and love it, until now. Recently migrated to Win 7 x64 on a new machine. I used MozBackup to migrate my FF profile (including extensions, preferences, etc.) to the new machine.
Now, FFTP is not seeing or listing files in my PC's local folders. I can browse to the folders, see the folder names, but see NO files in the folders when I open them.
Please, any advice? or point me to a more appropriate location to get help.
Hm, can you send me a copy of your log with debug information turned on? (tools->options->interface->show debug info) send it to http://nightlight.ws/mime/about/contact

It's a very great addon. But it's damage that it's doesn't work correctly (bug) with the latest Nightly version of Firefox (20 & 21). Maybe you know that ? I hope you will fix it. I open a topic and this the link : https://forums.mozilla.org/addons/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=11805 .
Edit : Thanks for your answer. If you need more details, ask me. If I can answer, I will do it. Cheers.
Thanks for the feedback - I don't usually test on Nightly builds but I'll check it out and see what I can do. Cheers!

Thank you!

Overall, Fireftp is by far my favorite ftp transfer program that I can run in Ubuntu. It's easy to use, lightweight, and it does everything that I need from an ftp program.
There is only one bug that keeps it from being perfect, and that's the lack of drag & drop support in Ubuntu. It's an annoying issue, but hardly major.
Thanks for making such an awesome program!
Edit: Thanks for the reply!
Glad you like the program, Nathan :)
I'm aware of the Linux issue - I will try to fix it in a future version of FireFTP.
Cheers!
