If there is an SSL certificate error and you add an exception then CardDAV Browser will automatically re-try to access the server and download the vCards.

This version improves SSL certificate error handling. When you first connect to a secure website the certificate is checked and, if there is an error, you are prompted to add an exception (or not as you choose). The exception can be permanent or temporary but, if you don't add the exception , you will not be able to connect to the CardDAV server.
