Excellent add-on but this latest version impossible to install: 'invalid file hash -261'.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.6.3).

Thanks a lot for the feedback. I re-uploaded the file. Although I don't know if this will fix the problem. The cause is completely unknown to me. The .XPI installs well on my machine and probably also on the machine of the editor who approved the release.

Edit 2010-05-08: Fixed now.

Simply the best translation tool.

It would be nicer to have the Translation in Thunderbird itself. Because for now i can use Leo or sth. instead...

http://www.islabinaria.com/samu/wordreference-translator/

You can solve the shortcut issue by installing the extension keyconfig from http://mozilla.dorando.at/

I have changed my shortcut from D to Ctrl+Alt+D, and now it works.

I would agree, though, that the interface could be better - it is not optimal to open an entire new tab to get one word translated.

Not that user-friendly, but works fine and still saves time. So I guess it deserves stars :)

Your comment let me thinking. Hope you like version 1.5.0. It provides a floating link to the translation when you double-click a word.

While it is approved, you can see it at

I'm really quite disappointed, because I *love* wordreference.
But - I'm having the same problem as everyone else with the letter "D" (Mac OS X, Thunderbird 2) - I can't seem to be able to type it anymore. Why not make the shortcut key something like: Alt-D, Option-D, Ctrl-D, Alt-Shift-D, Function-D... so the poor machine doesn't have to get confused? I mean, if I'm willing to type Alt-E-E over and over to get a sentence with accents, I'm willing to hit Alt for a translation too. As it is...really kinda need the plain-d key for typing, so the addon's out.

Well, this prediction has result clearly wrong, so please accept my excuses.

Try Thunderbird 3 beta 3

but be aware of the known issues

very good tool.
But it's usefull to have : english to french with D
and French to english with and other letter !!

(I'm french ^^)

Thank you very much for your feedback.

I use the addon daily. My setting is en->es but when I translate a spanish word, wordreference.com is smart and switches automatically to es->en .

Can you confirm that this mechanism is not sufficient for a perceivable number of cases in en->fr (or any other couple of langs)? Say 1% or more in daily usage.

I would like to keep the current extreme simplicity of the keyboard interface.

Thank you again.

its great, best translation addon alongside qtl, was wondering if it was possible to have an option for

1) open a small popup with the translation instead of a whole page (like qtl)

2)activate just by selecting the word, or double-clicking.

Hi sam, contragulations for your work.

I'm using this extention roughly ten time a day on my PC at work (Windows XP), it works perfectly. When I come back to home, I'm using a mac (Firefox + Leopard) and the behavior is not the same, I can't use the "D" feature.

Actually, when the wordreference extention is activated on my mac, I can't use the "d" key ! Even though I have nothing selected. When I press the "d" key, le extention is called.

Does this bug is known?

thx

Thomas

Hi Thomas!

First of all, You Made My Day. And also my week and also my month I think.

Yes. This is a known bug. Lasirita reported it to me on April and few weeks ago I was able to reproduce it through a friend and then study a fix. I failed on make the results of this study noticeable enough. Now please read the new short description and the end of the long description at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/5530/ .

And thank you indeed.

Not for me: I have spanish work for school that I need to type in and translate. The D feature is nice, but I really can't use it. Good concept though.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.3.9).

("WONTFIX")

Gracias a Lasirita por el bug report.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.3.5).

Hi Rémi. Thank you very much for your feedback. Excuse my delay on answer you.

I have updated the extension site with contact info http://www.islabinaria.com/samu/wordreference-translator/ and disabled the "Hide email address" on this site.

Could you answer me to this?
1.- What O.S. and version of Firefox do you use?
2.- In which language your Firefox is? In which language do you (try to) set WR Translator when the config dialog appears?
3.- Type "about:config" on your Firefox address bar, and filter by "extensions.wrtranslator.". What do you see? After the first execution, "extensions.wrtranslator.firstexec" should be automatically set to false.

Thank you again!
