I have finally found out what addon was causing all this mess. Turns out addon called "Custom Buttons" was the problem.
I'm starting to get used to this addon for the first time and it feels great.

Definitely my favourite Addon and the first thing I put back in to Firefox on an install.
Just can't do without it as it gives me control of the Web, MS Explorer, my files and anything else I might want on a button. A button? It's quick and we push them all day as they're quick. The more the better!
Thanks to everyone who has developed this and helped me make my browser perfect. Your hard work and time is very much appreciated :-)
Thanks for the nice review, and glad to hear you are enjoying it.

It made total mess in my toolbars. Uninstalling did not help at all :(

May be useful for those wishing to program their own buttons, however this addon conflicts with Toolbar Buttons, an addon I find to be more useful. So I dumped this one.
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.0.9.9).Custom Buttons² version 2.0.9.9 was tested with Toolbar Buttons in Firefox version 3.0.6 and we found no conflicts. We were unable to test for conflicts in Firefox version 3.2a1pre because Toolbar Buttons is not compatible with that version at this time.
Please contact us at http://custombuttons2.com/ and share the conflict you are having so we may fix it.

Required to use a "Make a Bookmark" button, which is totally essential and can be found on custombuttons2 homepage in buttons database. It bookmarks a webpage as a button and even automatically adds a favicon. A masterpiece. Many other useful buttons in a database, too. Just browse.

Just what I needed. And for a freebie I can't believe the service that came with it.
I needed help with the code and sent an email to George @ SDClockDr. He got back to me within a few hours. WOW. That's even better service than I often get on expensive hardware.
\Keep up the good work!!!

Fantastic Extension!
Just the thing I've been looking for.

5 stars for helping to reduce my extension bloat, and fulfilling my compulsive need to customize Firefox just so!
And another 5 stars for the fantastic button makers at the forum - my button request was responded to in double quick time!

... especially those who are concerned about size and 'bloat' of the browser as some buttons can replace extensions, some enhance other extensions. I've quickly collected over 50 buttons and will never use Fx without them!
And, of course, the best forum around with wiki, video tutorials, great search, and other easy useful stuff, including, of course, people - the friendliest place to visit! - no request ever goes unanswered.

I love this extension! (Except that I now have way too many toolbars, what with all the buttons I've made!)

CB2 is an extension that gets updated regularly, has a forum of helpful info & responses, as well as quite a large selection of buttons for installation. Designing a button on the other hand can be a bit of a task for beginners, but some beginners do wind up being quite proficient at the task. Some folk use CB2 for just 2 or 3 tasks essential that they couldn't find elsewhere, and some people clutter up their toolbars with dozens of CB2 buttons. However, even the clutter may improve in the future, with improved sub-menu's (and hidden toolbars that expand on a button-click help as well, though are a little more disorienting in the expansion-collapse than a menu). These buttons can (with a little work) mimic clicking menu-items (in the menu-toolbar or such)... though iMacros can do that as well I'd think for those who find it too hard to program/code a button. Feel free to stop by the CB2 forums and your proposed/hoped-for button might already exist, or somebody might be willing to help you with coding the button, they might even decide to code it themselves (though no guarantees there).

I have been sadly remiss in reviewing CB2. I have used it for quite awhile now and LOVE it. I consider it to be one of my most important extensions. I have well over 100 buttons installed and I miss them all since switching to a browser that is not compatible with CB2. Thanks to CB2, I was able to remove quite a few extensions that did one thing and one thing only, which was provide a single button to do that one thing. I'd much rather have one extension do multiple things, rather than have 4 or 5 extensions doing 1 thing. CB2 greatly helped in treating my "extensionitis"!
Everyone at the CB2 forum is wonderfully helpful in making new buttons from scratch (something I've yet to try), editing existing buttons to suit the individual users needs and fixing any button issues there might be. Although I don't see that happening often at all.
Everyone has been so very patient and helpful when I've asked what I am sure are dumb questions. No one (other than myself) has hinted that the questions were dumb. And if someone has a doable request, they try to either direct the requester (is that even a word???) to the right place if the answer is already on the forums or they answer it, with none of this "RTFM noob" I've seen elsewhere.
I've asked for buttons and received them quickly. I've asked for help in editing buttons and got it fast. And have been told "you can do it" when I've expressed that someday I will attempt to make my own buttons.
All in all this is an excellent extension with wonderful support.
Thanks for the awesome review, and it is great to have you on the forum!

I've been using this extension for a while, and I consider it an essential tool, something that I need in any profile of FF. It's very handy and it lets me cut down on the number of other extensions I install.
The developers are helpful and responsive on the extension's dedicated forum.
Two thumbs up!
Thanks for the review and if you need anymore help we are glad to assist.

This extension looked optimal for me - when I need new function, I don't need new extension more - it's enough to find (or create) new button! Excellent solution, fast, easy with elegant way to deploy via click on a link - simply great - BUT:
After installation, I've got problems with missing buttons after FF3 restart and not working editor. After several hours of experimenting and "googling" around, short before I given up, I asked the support BB and ... the problem was solved within short time (other, experimental extension was the culprit).
I can recommend both - tool & support.
Thanks for the review. You have helped quite a bit since you joined as well. We appreciate having you!

EXCELLENT!! I love this addon. Thankyou for it Webdevelopers! Many useful buttons that i need! My favorites are: #1 NUMBER OF LINES ( just select the text, click the button and a window pops up stating the number of lines in the selected text -great for long lists that aren't numbered or are just bulleted. #2 TIMESTAMP (one click and it stamps the date and time onto the the top of the webpage for print/capture/bookmark). #3 SAVE FAVICON. Also, you can clone/copy any button, you can delete it,and you can change the button icon appearance to any other choice. Gets 10 STARS. Thankyou ! Thankyou !

For advanced users. Requires knowledge of JavaScript. Spent 2 hours on the support site. When the forum for adding a button to launch an external app. was found the moderator wasn't sure if it worked. I would suggest a list of working scripts on the home page of the site that could be easily downloaded and implemented. Uninstalled Custom Buttons.
Installed External Application Buttons 0.7.3.4 (google it). EAB works with FF3/XP.
You shouldn't need the scripts even as a novice. Simply go to the forum, click on a button and it will install in your browser.
Don't see the button you want then please request it and folks usually try to grant requests.
