Folderpane Tools

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

@remmie -I've been using Folderpane Tools with many other extensions, and I do not have the problem you report, so most likely it is a conflict with another extension, not Folderpane itself that is causing your problem. Troubleshooting extension conflicts can be a 'pane' (pun intended), but I would recommend the half-split method...For an extension that has been in maintenance mode for as long as this one has, and to continue working as well as it has, is amazing - 5 stars...

ProfileSwitcher

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Hello, 5 stars for functionality, but there is one minor annoyance...

In Thunderbird (both 10.0.xESR and 17.0ESR), if you have buttons set to 'Icons Beside Text', the icon looks right when you place it, but as soon as you close the 'Customize' window, it changes to 'Icons and Text' (where the text is below the icon), which causes it to be much taller than all the others...

Extra Folder Columns

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

First, thanks for this extension! I still can't believe the devs removed this basic functionality from the core code.

Ok, the bug, minor as it is:

When you have Newsgroups, it shows 3 ?'s (???) under the 'Size' column next to each newsgroup. I'd suggest it should just be blank, or more properly, reflect the size being taken up ON DISK for the local cache for that newsgroup.

Now, for the Feature Request (sorry it is so lengthy):

There is a feature available in the Mailtweak 1.0pre10 addon (http://mailtweak.mozdev.org/installation.html) that I absolutely love...

I have a little video of my minimalist UI's for both Firefox and Thunderbird showing this in action here:

http://www.web2test.net/Minimal_UIs.swf

It provides the ability to hide the email folder pane (and the email header pane (and the dev for the CompactHeader extension has already expressed interest in adding this capability to it for auto show/hiding the email headers), and auto-show it simply by mousing over the left side of the window (where the folder pane would normally be). When your mouse gets right up to the left edge, it pops out to the right, and when you move the mouse out of the folder pane, it disappears again. This provides a huge increase in usable screen real estate, and is especially useful on netbooks. It would be nice if the 'hotspot' (in pixels) could be a config option.

One thing though... it would be great if it could be implemented in a (semi-transparent) Panel, the way the auto show/hide of the Tab bar in Firefox (provided by the Treestyle Tab addon) works in the above video - meaning, it doesn't SHIFT the message list/detail panes when the folder pane is displayed, it 'overlays' them until you mouse out of the folder pane, then it disappears again...

Unified Search

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Hi Iago,

I discovered that the labels are only missing when I have set the toolbar to icons only. If I change the toolbar to icons and text, then the labels are there.

I'd really like to see the labels for Unified Search even if I have the toolbar icons set to icon only.

Also, when the toolbar is set to icons only, there are NO icons for the selectors (Sender, Recipients, etc) and no tooltips for them either.

Hide Menubar

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I don't even use Hide Menubar on Firefox any more ever since I found your other wonderful extension - Personal Titlebar - that allows me to move everything on the Menu Bar up to the Window Titlebar...

Please, please bring back support for Thunderbird, as, until Personal Titlebar supports Thunderbird, I still need it there...

Otherwise, I'd give it 5 stars...

Unified Search

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Hi Iago,

> Bug number 2: I can't confirm, but knowing the problems I had in the past with synchronisation between Unified Search
> options and Quick Filter options, all is possible ;-). Synchronisation is being harder than I believe when started this extension.
> If you can give me some extra info I thank you:
> - What operating system and version?

Windows XP Pro sp3 fully patched

> - What Thunderbird version?

5.0

> - When this bug happens you,
> - are you using the horizontal criteria bar or the vertical criteria menu (where are the filter options, horizontal or vertical)?

Horizontal

> - all options checked in Unified Search are the same are checked in Quick Filter toolbar?

Yes

> About bug 'the labels for the criteria are totally blank on mine', I don't understand well what meaning: Texts are missing? Every time?

Yes

> When texts/labels are missing, labels in Quick Filter toolbar are missing too?

Yes

> What screen size are you using?

24" LCD, 1920x1080

Great work Iago on this fantastic addon...However, there is one problem I've noticed, and one thing missing...UPDATE: Another bug - right now, the labels for the criteria (Sender, Recipients, Subject, etc) are totally blank on mine...******************************1. Missing is the auto-clear functionality that the Quickfilter searchbox exhibits when you switch to a different folder...Yes, the search is no longer applied (as long as you haven't stickied it), but the contents of the search box is not cleared, when it should be.2. I have had problems with the search criteria getting confused/out of sync, where I get zero results when I know there are emails that match the criteria I have entered. In order to 'fix' the problem, I have to open the Quickfilter toolbar, and deselect and reselect the desired criteria (normally just 'Subject, Sender and Recipients'), then it will find the results...I haven't figured out how to reliably reproduce the problem, but it happens often enough that you should be able to if you're looking for it.Otherwise, an essential addon for TB5+!

View Headers Toggle Button

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Too bad... seems like such a simple thing, since the button only has to execute the same code as the menu command, but apparently not or else you'd think someone else would have come along and figured out how to update it. I took a peek, but quickly got lost (ianap)...

Hide Menubar

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Hide Menubar is one awesome extension, and its author, yuoo2k, provides fast and excellent support if you ever have any problems.

And the latest version from his site now uses a Panel, so that in Thunderbird3 and Firefox4, the menu bar doesn't shove the window contents down, it just drops the menu bar down over the very top of the page (sadly the panel doesn't work in Firefox 3 in combination with TreeStyle Tabs and having tabs on the left because of a problem with Firefox)...

Anyway, 5 stars for both functionality and support... thanks yuoo2k!

Extra Folder Columns

Rated 3 out of 5 stars

I don't see the Account name on every folder...

But what I *would* like to see is a label for the actual 'Account / Folder' column (on the far left) that has been missing ever since the TB developers ripped this necessary functionality out. The extension has never added it back, and until it does, it will always be 3 stars from me.

Provider for Google Calendar

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Major bug with TB 3.1, lightning 1.0b2 and Provider 0.7 - no alarms will work.

Editing the event won't save any details (Category, Alarm, etc).

I did try deleting and re-adding the calendar, still no alarms...

Still giving 5 stars because when it works, it works very well...

Help!!!

View Headers Toggle Button

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Only 4 stars since it isn't supported in TB3 and the dev has been non-responsive to email inquiries... once it is updated I'll change it to 5 stars...

I really miss the convenience of View Headers Toggle since moving to TB3 - I really hope the author will update it soon - or that someone else will come along and do it for him...

It is simple but so convenient for anyone who examines headers a lot...

Track Package

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I love this extension, but there's a problem in Firefox 3.6.

Trackpackage 2.5 - and problem still exists in 2.6 - adds a huge mess of buttons in the toolbar config editor in Firefox 3.6.

Seems to be ok in Thunderbird, where I use it the most.

I've emailed the dev twice about it now, but still no resolution.

Will change to 5 stars once this is resolved.

Hide Menubar

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This is an incredibly useful addon - especially if you have a Netbook and screen real estate is at a premium - and it now works for both Ffox and Tbird (3.x)!

The developer is incredibly responsive to bug reports and feature requests. The Auto-Hide feature now works about as reliably as the Windows Taskbar Auto-Hide - meaning, virtually always works as expected, every now and then kind of forgets which state it is in, but a quick mouse-over of the hotspost fixes that right up.

With the recent changes/fixes - hotspot changed to the Window Title Bar, and the annoyance of the Menu Bar auto hiding itself while you are typing in the Awesome bar (or the Tbird Search box) - this is now one of my favorite and must have extensions.

Thanks yuoo2k!!

Extra Folder Columns

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

One thing missing from the old look is the Account column header label - 'Name' is what was there in the old TB2 - or maybe 'Account Name', or just 'Account' - but right now it is blank and looks funny. Fix this and its 5 stars.

@Edward Gelb - actually, I prefer this, otherwise the space to the right of the numbers is wasted.

I'd also like to see support added for showing the space taken up by a parent folder showing the total for all sub-folders - but this was NOT the behavior in Tbird 2, so I don't see this as a regression or bug, just a Feature Request.

Thanks for the extension Joey! Imho, this was a dumb decision by the Devs to remove this code and relegate it to the extension world.

Rewrap Toolbar Button

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Sorry - I posted, then decided it was such a simple thing that maybe it would work if I overrode compatability - and it works great!

Rewrap Toolbar Button

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Simple, but very useful... it would be great if it could be updated for TB3...

Forward

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Works great, except for one thing...

The new TB3 *finally* fixed the ability to toggle the format of the forwarded message (plain text or HTML) by holding the SHIFT key down.

I usually like to forward as an attachment, but sometimes I want to forward inline, so I have the default set to 'As attachment'. I also prefer plain text for most emails, so I have my compose format default set to plain text.

With Forward installed, if I hold the SHIFT key down and click the down arrow then 'Inline', it does come up Inline, but does NOT change the format to HTML.

If this can get fixed I'll give 5 stars AND a donation... :)

Hide Menubar

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Ok, follow-up review...

The developer provided a fix for the problem I reported with AutoShow/Hise not working properly when all toolbars are hidden, but I then discovered that there was a conflict with another necessary extension I use - Tree Style Tab. When this extension is also installed and Tabs are displayed on the left side (and probably the right side), if you hide all toolbars, the AutoShow/Hide functionality breaks.

I have reported this to the developer, so hopefully he will be able to find a fix so I can hide the (empty) Navigation toolbar.

gContactSync

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Finally, a way to sync TBird Contacts with GMail that actually works, and works well.

I really look forward to some of the changes coming down the road, especially the ability to sync different AddressBooks with different GMail Groups in the same GMail account, and to have different settings (direction, permissions, etc) for each. Right now I had to set up multiple gmail accounts to be able to sync multiple AddressBooks, but it is a small price to pay to have reliable syncing...

Thanks Josh for such a great tool!
