when will you make this available for version 17.

Well, I'll look it into it since there are users who report it doesn't work despite Mozilla's automated tests ;)

In Thunderbird Message Filter Import/Export Enhanced 1.0.2 on Thunderbird 17.0. exporting and importing functions don't work anymore...

Added on 27th:

HerCsD, thank you for your effort and time. I don't want to be grumpy, but this add-on is to good not to have it. And I still wonder why Mozilla doesn't include its functionality in the Thunderbird...

Yes, this has already been reported by some users. It will be investigated when there is time ;)

Running Thunderbird Message Filter Import/Export Enhanced 1.0.2 on Thunderbird 17.0.
Pressed "Export Filters", up came "Export Message Filters to File" window. Selected a folder and typed in a file name, hit "Save" button, window closed no errors, but looked in folder - no file was there.

I had a Filter list about 5 years old, where I added and added rules in the last 5 years. I was very happy finding this add, and I successfully imported all the rules to the new profile on the laptop.

Can you please tell me what is not working so I can be careful ?

Well, I wish I knew too. I am only involved in the porting process which is trivial but I may as well investigate the issue that sometimes import/export-ing filters is not working properly.

Useless. It does not import the filters based on address books correctly.
I mean I carefully transferred all address books, made sure they got imported with the exactly same names, then imported filters but all filters on the new machine were changed to use "personal address book".
So - it is quite useless plugin.

Hi. Thanks for the review.
Please check the response of a reviewer with title "Works partially." Your answer is there. I am pretty sorry but I have no free time. Whenever I find the chance I may as well fix it! Have a nice day! :)

It's great, after install of this module you have a button that allow to export your filters in the filter section.

My hard drive died this weekend and so I had to buy a new one and to reinstall thunderbird on it, including importing my backed up message filters, which were exported using the original version of the plugin. The plugin succeeded the import only partially: the list of filters was imported and for every filter the lists of the filtered fields was imported as well. However, every single filter gave me an error message saying that the destination folder, into which a filter was supposed to move messages on the server (I use IMAP), does not exists, and so the folder paths were left empty. I had to manually set again the destination folders for all my filters (and I have dozens of them).

Hi. Thanks for using this plugin.
The problem you have encountered and described exists sadly because of the original plugin's bug which was introduced by its original author. I don't know whether and when I will be able to fix it or not (it is a nuisance since I've encountered it myself). The purpose was to make it compatible with newer versions of thunderbird. However, I do plan to clean up the code and make it better introducing bug fixes in newer versions (if any).
Thanks for the bug report :)

Wasn't sure it'd work. But it worked perfectly. It restarts Thunderbird after the import and I wasn't expecting that, but other than that, perfect. Saved me a LOT of time since I have a LOT of filters setup for a bunch of IMAP accounts. (Why am I even ON IMAP?!)

The only add-on that allowed me to export/import filters. Works simple and sufficiently. Export button in the right place on filters dialog, although import is in main menu, but also pretty obvious. Thanks
