It does not work on version 78.5.0. The author does not make updates, but it's a pity. There are such addons, so that it would be better for the authors to make them paid than to stop updating.

Identity Chooser has been supporting Thunderbird 78 since version 2.0. Please go into Thunderbird's addon manager and update your addons.

If you still have problems please open an issue at Identity Chooser's github: https://github.com/speedball2001/identitychooser-mx.

I have several email addresses and I frequently would accidentally reply from the wrong one - made for some very awkward, unprofessional, and in some cases compromising situations. This add-on has prevented those occurrences from happening again.

When I start Thunderbird, the down arrows next to write, reply and forward do not exist. Turing Identity Chooser off then on again temporarily solves this problem.

Edit: A day or so later... the turn off and on again doesn't work any more. I did add the CardBook address addon.

BTW, thanks, speedball2001 for the link.

Hi,

please follow the issue on GitHub https://github.com/speedball2001/identitychooser-mx/issues/3

We're working on it even though it's difficult to reproduce since it seems to be happen only on some machines.

Great addon, thank you!
It facilitates work with different identities and e-mail addresses; especially in business contexts.
Finally I could also install the updated version for TB 78. However, I have a huge issue: the addon keeps disappearing after the restart of TB. The arrows on the buttons to choose the different identities only come back, when I disable/enable the addon. Then, the functionality is available until I close TB.
I would be glad, if this problem could be fixed somehow. Thank you for taking a look at it.
Best regards.

Hello,

this is weird. Could you please open an issue at https://github.com/speedball2001/identitychooser-mx/issues?

Besides to colors (tnx to the author for driving us to use a 'patch' for this lack) I was wondering if the option to bold the identity to choose, is also lacking in this new version or if I missed it while I was testing this version. In fact I'm still with TB 68.x, but I'm also testing 78.x on a device in orded to be ready when all of my essential addons will be ported on it.

Regards,
Topoldo

The new version doesn't change the look of TB anymore and wont bold the identity.

Thank you -- the beta's working well :)
Unless I've missed where to look, color choice for different accounts doesn't seem to be an option now, but maybe this will follow on in due course (not vital obviously, but it was a nice touch). I'm just so glad to have the add-on back working again, and very grateful for your effort.

I wrote a review yesterday, where I said "Great product but needs better colour choice".

Last night developer replied pointing to how to change the colours, checked, did it, and it's great!

Not only a really useful add-on, but superb support too! - Thanks

Great extension, this should have been a native feature from the getgo!

You can modify the colors used by Identity Chooser in it's settings.

Great Add-on, I have used previous versions.
For some reason however the Background Account colours are taking over, and I am almost unable to read the addresses etc, making it more unless unusable. I am now using Default (Awful) Mozilla theme is this why?

I appreciate what this add-on does. But the problem is that it conflicts with "Account Colors" [https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-GB/thunderbird/addon/account-colors/?src=userprofile]. Both add-ons try to alter the colors of the same fields, resulting in a bit of a mess.

I like a few of the features of both add-ons, and the fact that I can't use both together is really frustrating. I suppose this is the down-side of allowing independent developers to build extensions to the same core application.

I don't suppose there's a chance of you joining forces with the "Account Colors" team to create one coherent extension?

If I could, I would give it 6 stars!
But, the color themes, could it also be used if choosing an account in the list. Just the theme color as background for that line?

Very useful when you have a lot of accounts. I really appreciate the safeguards. Saved my life so many times!

A few things though:
- I somewhat disagree with the account coloring theme... :-) I know this can be changed from the add-on settings, but they seem to have disappeared with TB 68.3.1 (or is it me who can't seem to find them?).
- It would be very useful to have shortcuts to quickly select an account when prompted. Typing the first letter of the Sender name is not sufficient as they may be very close if not identical.

Without these 2 remarks, I'd give 5 stars.
Keep it up!

Nice, but don't work with HTML "mailto-links". Is this possible?

Very nice, thanks!
Would be possible to implement this (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1518025) feature request in this addon?

Meaning, for selected accounts, hitting reply to a mail to
user+facebook@domain.org
would also default to the identity
user+facebook@domain.org
?
