Very nice extension.

One minor quibble, though: I used the Google Maps URL provided above. My North American coordinates were submitted as "-33,-96" (abbreviated for privacy). Google Maps places this in the southern hemisphere. It should be "33,-96", with no "-" on the latitude number. Is this a bug?

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.3.2).

I tried to contact you by mail but got no response, so trying it here.
It might be a bug but I can not see it. It would be great if you could provide me (by mail) with an image where this occurs.

So far this is a nice extension.

However,
I would suggest to add a feature (comes with a selectable option) to
automatically display a "tip" of metadata (e.g. exif) and
other image properties (e.g. original image dimensions)
when a mouse cursor hovers over an image, and
a user can customize what to display in the tip.

I think it is more convenient to view the info of "multiple" images with
a simple mouse hovering action.
Would you consider the suggestion above?
Thank you for the effort.

Great addon - please make it working also with FF 3.6!

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.3.2).

Swam, I already adapted FxIF to FF >= 3.6 in 0.3.1. If it doesn't work for you, please give me some more detailed feedback. Thanks.

Good one, i get almost everything i need.
What could be improved:
1) it could be good if user could choose in some settings what EXIF data could be shown.
2) I'd like to have additional "Close" button at the image info window, it should be simplier that click small cross button at the corner.
Anyway it is 5 of 5 stars.
Very easy to use.

Thanks for your comment.

Point 1 I plan to address when adding a few more data to be used.

Regarding point 2 it might help you to know that hitting Escape closes the properties window in SM 2 and FF 3.5. It doesn't close the new Exif window in FF 3.6 right now but this I already added in the current draft for the next version.

Then again, perhaps Firefox could provide the option of floating, copying, and saving the "properties" window"

I like the fact that I can have multiple properties windows - if you get a gadget that adds stay on top option to any window (I use the one from ActualTools, its payware but it works) then you can compare the data in the two, three ... six windows- and that's really useful. So I for one would like things to stay the way they are - ie the window persists until I tell it to go away. If you want it in the sidebar you can easily copy and paste it into something like Quicknote that can dock in a sidebar.

FxIF is the ONLY decent online EXIF viewer I've found. I don't know why it isn't rated the highest. The others are just cumbersome and inadequate.

As a suggestion, I wish the EXIF data could be displayed either directly in the contextual menu, in the sidebar, or in a single always-on-top window. Currently, for every image you want to inspect, you must open another "properties" window. It's the appropriate place for the info, but it has limitations -- as soon as you click the page, the properties window is hidden. Then again, perhaps Firefox could provide the option of floating, copying, and saving the "properties" window.

I'm currently using Firefox 3.5.3 for Mac and FxIF 0.3.

Thank you for your kind words - and your suggestion also.
For displaying the infos in the first level of the context menu I don't think this is appropriate since it would mess up the menu for most people.

But since in future Firefox there is no standard properties menu anymore I've to add my own entry anyway and I could make displaying the infos in a submenu an option.

For displaying the infos in always the same window. Would you expect FxIF to switch infos when switching tabs/windows automatically or via context menu? The former one would be difficult/impossible to do when the image is not loaded directly (...jpg URL) but is embedded in a website.

Regarding your last sentence, could you please elaborate the more?

works fine for me, would like to see more IPTC data and configur-ability.

I can't imagine I'd ever want to see keywords but I'd often like to see Category, Credits and Object Name; someone else might want to see keywords or supplemental categories.

Same with EXIF fields, if I want them all then I'll download into Exiftool or PhotoMe. In the browser I'd prefer to limit it to say Camera Make, Model, Exposure Time., FNumber, ISO, Shutter Speed, Max Aperture, Distance, LightSource, Focal Length

Overall its pretty good.

With the latest updates this addon works 100% of the time. 5 stars now!

Very nice addon, but it does not work in 3.7 anymore since they removed the properties in the popup menu. Any chance the addon will be updated?

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.2.3).

I\'m aware of the removal of this menu entry. In time there will be a new version to compensate for this. Current is 3.5 and 3.7 is still far pre alpha.

Great Addon but doesn't work 100 percent of the time

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.2.3).

Quite unspecific description. But might it be the same problem as described by Mister Magoo? Please try version 0.3 and provide some more feedback then. Thanks.

Exif Viewer worked well, this FxIF does not show the complete Exif Data.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.2.3).

You're right, FxIF doesn't show everything in the file. The target audience is simply different from Exif Viewer.
We want to give a quick overview of the most interesting informations in a simple form at a glance.

Just one feature missing.
It is hard to copy all the data so a copy button or at least the ability to select all the data at once would be good.
Thanks.

Thanks for your suggestion. I'll added this functionality to the current 0.3.

Exactly what I was looking for. Adds EXIF section to the Image Properties window. Using on Firefox 3.0.10 and no sign of any problems, even though the add-on hasn't been updated.

Exactly what I needed without having to install a lot of software apps. Had to find some original dates and time from my online photos and this worked perfectly. Highly Recommended !
