Hello,

I still have problem, with the official release build and with the nightly builds 1.41 Pre from January 6th.

with a right click on the encrypted attachement I do get the menue with "decrypt and save", but this one is grey and can not be selected.
I need to right click on the size information of the attached file, to see this option enabled. But when having multiple attachements it is a problem to decrypt the next one. Even if the second one is selected, and I click right of it on it's size Enigmail want to decrypt the first one.

I'm using WIN7 x64. Somewhere it is mentioned, that windows is only supproted in x32. Could this be the problem ?
I don't think it make sense to support windows only in x32, as currently all sold systems are x64 bit ...

I had this problem starting with tunderbird version 8 and now I upgraded to 9.01. I hope this update policy will change back to a usefull frequency in the future!!!!!

BTW: I have to type my password when opening the e-mail. Is it possible to decrypt the Attachements together with the decryption of the e-mail ?
This would be a nice setting ...

Thanks and regards

The Enigmail forums show other people, myself included, for whom TB 8 and Enigmail 1.3.3 are not working. A snapshot release of Enigmail, 1.4a, does work, for me.

This is a great extension and works great. Except that with the update of Thunderbird to version 8.0 Enigmail no longer works. Version 1.3.2, does not work TB 8, and EM 1.3.3 does not work with TB 7 or TB 8. I am reduced to using TB 7 with EM 1.3.2 if I want it to work.

Please correct this!!

Works okay - if you can get it to work... It's easy with Windows and OS X but on Linux you always either have incompatible versions of Thunderbird or glibc (system library). I'd like to use it but I can't. Why does it have to be so dependend on specific versions?

Some installs of 1.3.3 will fail on 8.0. This is a Patrick vs Mozilla issue as far as I can tell. I.e. Patrick says it's Mozilla's fault and if I could find a Mozilla comment it would probably point the other way.
ON the plus side I've used this thing for years and if extension installation processes are reformed and I can start using it again I happily will.

Will there be a version for windows (64-bit) soon that work with TB 8.0?

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.3.3).

As soon as a 64-bit version of Thunderbird is officially shipped by Mozilla.

I've got Thunderbird 3.1.11 (on Ubuntu 10.4) and I downloaded Enigmail 1.1.2. Then clicked on Tools>Addons and then clicked on the button [Install...] to find the extension I just downloaded. However when I clicked on the downloaded extension and then clicked Open nothing happened. Ie the extension didn't appear in the Addons window. Is there another way to install this extension or have I got the wrong version perhaps? I've used Enigmail before and found it very easy to use so I'd like to stick to it. cheers

I think that this would be a good program but, there is one slight problem. I can't install it on the 3.1.15 version of thunderbird.

A good trick for thunderbird user who want to definitively uncrypt an email.
Move the mail in your draft directory.
Open it and click on "Modify", add a space and save (and say "no" when asking for crypting).
You can now move it on its original directory.
So, now we can hope that somebody writes a module to do that automatically.
The point is not to save the uncrypted file outside, But on our personal computer.
So we have choice to keep security for mail that really need and pass in text other message to allow text manipulation.

On Mac OSX 10.6. I have the bug that when opening the preferences dialogue (Ctrl+,) the window will not close properly, but keeps hanging as a grey square underneath the menue bar. I can reproduce this problem.

Outstanding. The lack of a comparable PGP/GPG tool for any other email client means I'm attached to Thunderbird all the more. Thanks very much to the authors of this great tool.

I love the fact that with Thunderbird v5 and today with Thunderbird v6, my Enigmail extension is immediately available to update as well to work with the latest version of Thunderbird. Great work.

I love this app and use it a lot but cannot install on the latest version of thunderbird as its incompatible with latest version of firefox!

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.2).

Enigmail won't install in Firefox because it is a Thunderbird add-on. Please use "Save as ..." and save the file locally. Then launch the Add-on-Manager in Thunderbird and install the downloaded file.

Oh Childeric !
Il faut prendre le temps de lire les docs (certes en anglais) avant de se lancer. Ça fonctionne très bien.
