I use it, i like it !

The new version (1.4.2) works as expected and makes TB the best mail program for users who want a solid mail program capable of delivering more. Classic TB2 adds the possibility to use it like you used it before (for more than 10 years) and to have the UI like you're used to. It ads some fine refinements for new users too! Great add-on, updated regularly. Solid developer.

I have to agree with other reviews.
This theme is simply the best. Actually it WOULD be the best.
The icons are right size, shape, color. Everything is functional and perfect for professional use.
I say WOULD as this theme is clearly unmaintained since 2013.
A real pity, after upgrade to 45.2 on Linux the mailbox name text in the mailbox column, when it is not active, is gray and gray, so it is unreadable.
And as others wrote, the close tab X is not displayed.
This could be fixed super easily, had the theme been maintained. I hope someone takes over, because I love this theme.

I was a satisfied Ignore Aero user, but that Add On became inoperable when my work email policy forced an upgrade to TB45. With the Extensions I am using on TB45 on Win7, I do not have the problems other commenters reported with Classic TB2, except for loss of the little X to close a tab, but the tab does close if you click where the X would be or upon Control-w as usual.
Classic TB2 has all the details right: right-sized and colored icons for Read/UnRead, Forwarded/Replied, Junk column, Signed and Encrypted email, the tool buttons are clear, good contrast of text on backgrounds throughout, venetian blind effect in the message view, and the vertical spacing allows more folders to be listed at a time than other skins (very efficient use of space) - Fantastic! There are no icons that are overly large, bright, or distracting from the main purpose of using the tool, which is a common problem with the other skin Add Ons currently compatible with TB45. I use small Icons Beside Text, and these Extensions: CompactHeader, Rise of the Tools, Allow HTML Temp, and Theme Font & Size Changer. This set up supports heavy professional use of TB45, which I would not say about TB45's default appearance. [It boggles my mind that with current display technology someone at Mozilla thinks the monochrome look of TB45 Default is a good idea for a serious email tool user.]
This must be well written SW as it has not had a version release since 2013 yet still works with TB45, but I do wonder about future updates. I am very happy with Classic TB2 and would gladly donate to its future upkeep if the developer were to add a donation button here.

I NOTICED I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS ISSUE.
I LIKE THE THEME BUT IT'S KIND OF USELESS UNTIL THIS IS FIXED.
Version 1.4.2 fixes this problem, and quite a few others. I also recommend the Titlebar Tabs Cleaner extension to completely restore the classic titlebar look. Hope you'll try it out!

Very much like the toolbars, however there's a small issue with running under Windows 10. Running maximised the menu bar is too slim and chops the words off slightly and the tabs are not visible. Also the standard buttons on the top right corner look out of place from a colour mismatch.
The Privacy icon in the Options dialog box is also missing.
Version 1.4.2 fixes these problem, and quite a few others. I also recommend the Titlebar Tabs Cleaner extension to completely restore the classic titlebar look. Hope you'll try it out!

Thanks. I much prefer this theme over the default for TB 31. However, when this theme is enabled in TB 31 on Windows 10, I can no longer grab the top of the window and move the window around on the screen. This is a major enough problem that I have had to return to the default theme. Please fix if possible. Thanks

really nice addon, works quite well on Linux TB24 with some minor drawbacks:
- when text is below the buttons in the main menu bar, the icons are misaligned
- an item in the tree on the left that is highlighted becomes near invisible when selecting a message in the message pane. Perhaps using black letters with items that are 'not in focus but highlighted' works better (like it did with TB 2.0)
Other than that this makes TB 24 workable again!

Any chance to solve that?
Apart from that, perfect
Version 1.4.0 does fix this issue, though newer versions of Thunderbird no longer support the Folder Pane View Switcher.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!
Recent linux update to TB24 schmucked my Oxygenate theme to the stupid very hard to read monocolour icons - why can't they just leave them alone.
Next day, this addon theme auto-updated and I'm back to something reasonable!
THANK YOU!

This theme which is based on the icons in TB3 Classic, suits perfectly on Thunderbird 24.1.
Thank you for updating...

A clear and light weight theme with buttons easy to identify.
I miss buttons for lightning.
Thank you very much.
Thanks for the info on lightning - I don't use it, so I never noticed the missing icons. I will look into adding support.

Отличный интерфейс, без глюков, хорошо вписывается в интерфейс Windows 8. Только шрифты мелковаты для 24" монитора.

This is the best, with only one drawback. I can't move the window around the screen I have to change the theme to another - move to where I want it, then return to the theme. I'm using W7 x64
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.1.0).The new version can be downloaded manually now, or will update automatically in a few days when the review is complete. Let me know how it works!

I liked this theme. It was good while it lasted. Unfortunately, it has been broken since the release of TB 17 (large grey area under the title bar), and by now it seems clear that it is not being updated. The closest working theme that I have found is xpDefault, which is regularly updated. I would recommend it to anyone who used to use Classic TB2.
=====
PS: I am adding this after the developer's reply below. First of all, thanks to Corey for replying less than 24 hours after I posted my review. I agree that it's only been a week since TB17 came out, but since the notice that the add-on is still in development was only posted after my comments, I think that my doubts about the extension's future were understandable, especially since the theme was immediately broken with the new TB release.
Since I am responsible for the TB installations of a group of people (most of whom wouldn't recognize an add-on if it spoke to them in the street), I need to give them certainties. To say, "Things will be updated shortly" is acceptable; to say "I don't know what's happening" is not. At that point I have to advise them to what to do to "get their TB back" That xpDefault has continued to work seamlessly with the new TB update is something positive that I cannot ignore.
If Corey could give a quick status update soon after each TB GUI change that impacts Classic TB2, it would be much appreciated. And, as far as I understand, Thunderbird will now be slowing down its rapid release cycle for a while (at least until Firefox reaches number 24); which will be a relief for all of us. The fact that Mozilla has officially announced that it will concentrate on Firefox to the detriment of Thunderbird at least has a silver lining!
In any case, the developer's statement that Classic TB2's development will continue is good news. Looking forward to the next release. Thanks, Corey.
TB17 has only been out a week - it's a bit early to assume the theme is no longer being updated. I assure you, it is.

I really like the way this looks and works, but I have a problem and cannot find the way to report a bug. Been going round in circles for half an hour. Sorry. The top of my Thunderbird 17 window is cut off (no border) and the Minimize, Restore and Exit buttons are tiny and invisible in the grey strip.

Thanks for the quick response, Corey. Looking forward to giving it another try.
Thanks for the bug report - I just updated to TB17 after reading this and have the same issue. A temporary fix is the Titlebar Tabs Cleaner extension. I hope to have something built in to the theme soon.
Perhaps Mozilla will even stop changing the UI around someday...

Neat and easy theme, straightforward an clear. Unfortunately lacking the chat icons. Would be great to have them added...
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.1.0).Well, it took longer than I'd hoped, but the chat icons have been added to version 1.2.0.
