In a little more detail...

I have LOTS of Add-on Collections.

My groupings of collections are organized by functionality. It is the closest thing I could do to tagging useful add-ons.

I'm currently tracking over 400 add-ons. All of them have been categorized or tagged by features, into about 100 collections. As of the end of Nov, 2011, I'm in the process of cleaning up the collections to make them consistent and complete--stay tuned!

You may find some collections have more than one add-on that seem to do the same thing. The reason is because I find that some are more compatible than others with other add-ons OR some are maintained then suddenly stop. So this is my way of keeping track of alternatives to find the best fit.

Anytime I find a new one that I think is worth tracking, I will add it to one of these. Subscribe to keep informed and enjoy.

MR Tech Toolkit

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I started a collection over 2 years ago of alternative add-ons that can replace functionality originally found in Mr Tech Toolkit (MTT).

If you would like to subscribe to it go here:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/collections/smayer97/for-mr-tech-toolkit/

If you know of any add-ons that can replace any functionality in MTT, please let me know and I will certainly consider adding it to the collection for all subscribers to benefit.

Multiple Addon Deactivator

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Any chance Groups will be added any time soon? This would be a great feature!

Also, consider adding the Compatibility info next to the Add-on version, like so:

Add-on Name vX.X. (Min - Max), where min/max are the compatible Firefox versions reported by the add-on.

This has GREAT potential that could really take off if it gets implemented.

XUL/Migemo

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

NO longer works at all using FF 16.0.2 on Mac OS 10.6.8. Nothing happens!!Tried trick by other user to also load "enhanced Findbar" add-on...helped turn on XUL/Migemo, so it seemed to work BUT the Highlight All and the Scrollbar markings do not work at all. Tried on fresh new profile but not go.

Going to try "FindBar Tweak" or "Scrollbar Search Highlighter" addons which can do the same as above/

Slim Add-ons Manager

Works as it should. No Surprises. GREAT! FF 16.0.2

Disable Add-on Compatibility Checks

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Thank goodness this still exists. All the others that used to do this no longer do or themselves are no longer compatible.Works on FF 16.0.2

any possibility to create something like this that is generic to be used on other sites that have char limits?

Maybe instead of a count down, give the option for a count up. This would allow to sork on others sites that have different limits.

Please advise.

Linkification

Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Limited in effectiveness and misses part of links at times.

I tried Text Link and it is more intelligent and responsive-no slow downs.

Make Font Size Bigger Pack

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

NIce, but I would recommend having option to turn on /off the sections to make bigger, rather than have different add-ons.

Also some sizing options too

would be nice if the features from the Filter Extensions add-on

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/6694/

were implemented in the same way here. as that add-on makes them more conveniently accessible.

If so, then I would lnot need that add-on

Tiny Menu

Though the desr says it is not for Mac OS, this should be flagged on Mozilla Add-ons so that can filter out with searches

XUL/Migemo

Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Agreed with last reviewer...this does too much in one add-on. I find it can run very slow (on an iMac 24" 2.8GHz w 4GB, so this CPU is no slouch).

I would at least split the function to highlight and show like Safari as a separate add-on from the Language search facilities.

I find that after a while, the Safari-like features get a little confused and the Find field does not respond to the keyboard well. Hiding the Find field arbitrarily shows/does not show the search result locations. Type to start find sometimes no longer responds.

Otherwise, this is the only add-on I have found to provide these functions.

Combine this with the Find In Tabs add-on and this is a killer combination.

A nice add-on

Asa small enhancement, It would be nice to have an X to clear the filter field easily, with just one click instead of having to reach for the mouse, highlight text and delete with keyboard or type over.

Craigslist Search - All Cities with Results from the Past Ten Minutes!

Too bad is limited to US and not include Canada

No Tooltip Timeout

Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Works ok on web pages but does not work on toolbar buttons, tab bar, or other add-ons that add tabs

I'm using FF 3.5 on Mac OS X 10.4.11 with TMT and TabMixPlus & Mr Tech Toolkit

Flash Quality Changer

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Bug I run into is that it blocks loading flash on CNBC.

Concept seems good.

Please fix.

FoxTab

Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Very nice implementation, taking the best views of Windows Aero and Apple Safari.

Refresh is super fast unlike some other tab viewing Add-ons. Very smooth (I have a 2.8 Core 2 Duo iMac)

I too have experienced the occasional FF carsh with this add-on, though not that frequent. But I did decide to remove it because FF is rock solid otherwise.

One other bug I have run into is that it disables the contextual menu for TooManyTabs (TMT). Not sure if this is a FoxTab or TMT problem.

I'm using FF 3.5.3 on OS X 10.4.11

@ buzgun

re: My Config Icon, you can get rid of it by going to
MR Tech ToolKit Options > Manager Hacks > Window Options. Then make sure to remove the check mark beside 'My Config' in Addons Toolbar

I agree that the icons in the Extensions Options menu do not work (although they DO work if you use the Toolbar Icon by customizing the Toolbar). You can simply remove the Extensions Options menu by going to:
MR Tech ToolKit Options > Menu Options > Tools Menu Options. Then make sure to place a check mark beside "Extensions Options".

While you are there you can remove all the other menu entries in the Tools Menu in that same place.

Overall a great add on otherwise (save for a few bugs I have submitted for review).

Keyfixer

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Or you can simply learn how to do things the Mac way (which is NOT hard):

When in a text field:
⌘ (Command) + ◀ (left arrow) = Windows Home
⌘ (Command) + ▶ (right arrow) = Windows End

You can also look up all Mac keyboard shortcuts by opening the Help menu in the Finder and typing Keyboard Shortcuts.

Effectively all this does is remap the Mac modifier keys. You can also do this yourself at follows:

Choose Apple menu > System Preferences and click Keyboard & Mouse.
Click Keyboard.
Click the Modifier Keys button.
Choose an action from the pop-up menu next to the modifier key you want to change, then click Done.
