This is an essential add on that no longer works correctly.

I'm using Winmail.dat Reader until LookOut is updated.

Works in TB 3
Attachments look detached, but I can import the mails into TB and attachments are present.
But only with plain emails. If html email the old annoying WINMAIL.DAT is there.

This plugin seems not to work.
I still have the winmail.dat attachments and can't open it.

Unfortunately it does not work for me with Thunderbird 3.0. When I try to save a .txt file sent by Outlook, the "Open" dialog does not pick up that it is a .txt file, so won't associate it with Notepad. Also, it won't save the file until it has been associated, so the result is that my simple little .txt file cannot be either opened or saved. I can't give a positive rating for something that does not work.

For the 1.2.10 Version
go to the bottom of the plugin page and find
a link labeled "View Older Versions"

Would you mind updating your addon to the TB 3.0 version. I do have a compatibility error while installing it..
My TB can't live without your great add-on ;)

Thank you SO MUCH for this Add-on. Unfortunately, the uninitiated still use Outlook, and I'm tired of getting emails from them in .dat format I can't decipher. This plug-in is a GODSEND!

Excellent plugin. I have used with Thunderbird to version 2.0.0.23. Now install the TB 3.0, but the LookOut not functioning, the message says "Not compatible with this version". There will be an update soon?

Very useful!
Works in the background and makes dealing with Outlook mails almost painless.

Tested and works like a charm on both WinXP and Mac PPC versions :-) Thank you!

As an improvement, I would like to see a message in Thunderbird whenever a winmail.dat is decoded: "This message contains a winmail.dat attachment which was decoded for you". This way I don't have to spend a few seconds wondering if I see all attachments or if there is several attachments, Including a winmail.dat.

Hi. This add-on is useful. It is necessary to convert it for character-codes other than ASCII.
It is an example for Japanese Shift_JIS.
----before
file.name = tnef_file_munge_fname( attrs[i].values[0], files );
----after
var UConv = Components.classes['@mozilla.org/intl/scriptableunicodeconverter'].getService(Components.interfaces.nsIScriptableUnicodeConverter);
UConv.charset = "Shift_JIS";
file.name = UConv.ConvertToUnicode(tnef_file_munge_fname( attrs[i].values[0], files ));

It does not seem to work for the html based emails, sent from an outlook client. It still shows them as Part 1.1 and Part 1.2 etc.
Are you planning any enhancement to tackle these issues ?

This works very well with attachments sent in Office 2007. Now I can see attachments from colleagues & customers again.

the body-rtf attachment is a good workaround to see the formatted message (in-line would be nice, but probably a bit much to ask).

feature request: Could you add an option to hide the Winmail.dat attachment itself? It is not necessary once I have my attachments displayed.

Installed the plugin but the winmail.dat stays just that, an unrecognised attachment.
Found WinMail reader that I managed to program to open the attachment when it is double clicked in Thunderbird.
Any other advice?

If you would like help you should probably be writing to the mailing list. Asside from that please let me know your version number of Thunderbird and LookOut. Open the "Error Console" under the Tools menu and see if there are any messages related to LookOut or Tnef.
