This was my favorite add-on, I'd love a FF3 version; I used it constantly. In fact, it'd be great to have a way to make this the default copy function.

to qualitypush.com: Thanks so much for posting that "extensions.checkCompatibility" work-around. I've now been able to restore my Firefox to its former glory.

Workarounds work, but it's better to have the author update his work... Update Please Jeremy!!!

ah! thank gawd i have my baby back. after installing FF3 i´d "lost" many good plugins, 1 of them was CPT.
i did it this way (thx to those who explained here):
1) uninstall CPT
2) restart FF3
3) type in address field "about:config" (just the letters)
4) answer: "yes I won´t destroy anything"
5) you´ll see a list
6) right click --> new (boolean)
7) type in: "extensions.checkCompatibility"
8) set it to "false"
9) close FF3
10) just install CPT as usual:
--> https://addons.mozilla.org/de/firefox/addon/134
--> "don´t check version"
hope you´ll be as happy as i am!
thx Kevin C. Tofel and James Kendrick (i copied your names with my good old CPT! :)

Ervee's patch works well, thanks.

would be great if a version for ffox3 will be released.
When it is easy as "crj sdin" says, there is maybe no programming work needable to make it run with ffox 3!

This extension works with FF3 if you change the maxVersion from 2.0.0 to 3.0.0 in the install.rdf.

I saw what ervee did with the "install.js" JSscript Script File. I extracted the xpi and opened the .js file with notepad. Just type "b" after the no. 3 where you see this area:
const gVersion = "0.3.3";const gJar
It should read: ="0.3.3b";const gJar
Or if you already know where to look for the extension folder within your profile or from the Mozilla Firefox in the Programs folder. Then all you have to do is open FF, go to the Tools Menu / Add-ons, click on the extension Copy Plain Text to see the registry number. Once you have that you can find the Copy Plain Text's extension folder with the same number. Go there and do the same modification above on the "install.js" file.
Restart, then override FF3 to allow this extension. Concern for doing this is not warranted on this extension. It works and I haven't experience any crashes or problems, not even on all versions of FF2.

Jeremy, make it work in FF3, PLEASE!!!!
For many, this extension is very useful.

This was handy but it's too bad that it hasn't been updated yet. There has been plenty of time to do so as well.
Sorry, but I don't have a clue who ervee is, so I'm not planning on downloading their update AND I too don't recommend forcing FF3 into allowing this extension.
The truth is that this should have been updated by Jeremy sometime ago. Perhaps he's too busy but then a notice here would've been nice.

excellent but doesn't work with frefox 3

I don't recommend disabling version checking in Firefox itself. I've modified the 0.3.3 version to load in FF3. Download here: [removed]

This great extension works in FF3. FF just doesn't know it (yet, -1 for not updating it). If you know what you're doing you can force it to be accepted. See for example:

I miss a 'copy as formatted text' CTRL+SHIFT+C shortcut, when CTRL+C is set to 'copy as plain text' in the options

I happened on this add-on when it first came out and I added it every machine that has Firefox I come upon. Seems like it should be built in.
Works great, I take it for granted until I have to use IE.

This is an excellent Add-on, one of the best!!! THANKS!!!

Pros: Does exactly what it says: copies whatever you have selected (on a web page) while removing all formatting in the process. I use this extension constantly.
Cons: Needs an option to create a user-defined keyboard shortcut. Needs to be updated for FF3.0.
It does work with FF3.0b3 if you use the MR Tech Local Install extension to overwrite 'maxVersion' compatibility testing. You can also use the Nightly Tester Tools extension to overwrite 'maxVersion' compatibility testing.
Thank you Jeremy Gillick!

This is excellent. Would it also be possible to write something similar, a paste plain text for firefox? (for when you copy text from ms-word, etc?)
To create your own collections, you must have a Mozilla Add-ons account.
