Minimize On Start is a very useful function, I was looking for it because the Windows shortcut property set to "Minimized" is not working with Firefox. This is a well-known issue in Firefox. This add-on is doing a good job, Firefox can be started in minimized state! However when I am clicking a web link in my Outlook Express received email message my Outlook Express is freezing and Firefox is not being opened automatically to show the web page as it is supposed to be! Unfortunately I had to disable this useful add-on. Looking forward to the new version!

Thanks for the feedback! I find this very strange, the add-on should not generate that kind of behavior. I'll look into it and try to solve it for the next version (which is coming out during the summer).

In Firefox 4.0, when hide the menu bar, Minimize on close does not work!

Love it! Thanks for this great add-on.

I second alcamize's request: It would be extremely useful if all open tabs were closed (except for the homepage) when minimizing using the Close button.

I'm know that this is a requested feature, but unfortunately I've not found a "clean" way to implement it. I'll try to look into it for the next version.

Very useful, I hate having to load firefox several times because I close it. Only wish it went to home page and minimized when you hit X

Works fine, except there needs to be a hotkey for really closing a window. File > Quit works, but what about with popups that don't have a menubar? I looked at an image on Amazon that opened in a popup. I had to disable the addon, and restart Firefox in order to close that one popup. Maybe a hotkey like holding down Control while clicking on the X could actually close windows? I might be missing something. Other than that, this extension is exactly what I'm looking for.

This is a very good idea! I'll try to implement it in the next version.

Runs ok on TB3.1.2 and FF3.6.8.
Thanks!

Awesome addon, I've been looking for something like this for awhile now.

My only request would be if you could please add in the ability to intercept Ctrl+F4 and Ctrl+W commands as well as if you only have one tab open and you press either of those keys, Firefox will quit and not minimize to tray as I'd like.

New user of Thunderbird here and I'm not yet used to tabs for email messages (though I want to get used to it; I think tabs are neater than new windows). The bad thing is that when I want to close a message, I always ended up closing Thunderbird completely. This add-on works wonderfully (I love how you've tweaked it to minimize to the taskbar because I much prefer that to the system tray) and will be a lifesaver while I get used to TB. So thank you.

Good addon. But it's needed one more option - to ignore the message about the cease of the downloads at the close of the browser... After all, the browser will not close, only minimized, and the download does not cease, but that's the message still pops.

Thank you, I use it on both Firefox and Thunderbird. I am mainly and OS X user, so I drove me insane clicking the close button which results to closing of the application.... Then the icons for system tray are way to small. Thanks.

Option "Inform on new mail" seems to be not working. It does nothing on mail arrival. Which is the behavior? Does it flash the taskbar button?

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.3.0).

It was intended to flash the task bar icon when a new mail arrived. However it seems Windows often blocked that function. However the function was a bit out of the scope of the add-on, so as of the 1.3.2 version the function is removed (there are other add-ons which do that).

It does what the Revived version tried to accomplish. You minimize on start into the notification area. Great thanks !

Exactly what I need. Does exactly what it says, and does it almost perfectly (I use it on Thunderbird 2.0.23). What more can I say?
Defects?
If it could prevent the Thunderbird window from appearing at all, it would reach Nirvana (but that seems absolutely impossible to achieve). Also, the "Inform on New Mail" should be documented a bit more, but it's easy enough to figure out.
In any case, five stars without question.

This works great on FF3.6 and TB3 on Win7_x64. This extension is a must have for all Win7 users.

There is only one drawback with Firefox: Since Firefox allows to open several windows, you are no longer able to close one out of these windows by clicking on the close [X] button. You have to use the menu item "close window" or Ctrl+Shift+W for that.
Nevertheless 5 stars from me. :)

Just recently installed Windows7. Finding this plug-in very useful. Works on both Firefox 3.6b5 and Thunderbird 2.0.0.23..so far no bugs or problems from either while using plug-in.

I spoke too soon. It's still a good app it's just not configured completely from my standpoint. Something I wasn't aware of until I tried it. Unfortunately, JavaScript pop-up windows minimize as well which can be annoying. My answer quickly to that was to make sure pop-ups open in a new tab instead. I use Tab Mix Plus for that. One thing that does work correctly is the 'Restart Firefox' button for uninstalls or disable apps. When pressed FF closes then starts to reopen, briefly closes, but then opens maximized as it should. I still rate it 4 stars. And that's cloud9 from the critics corner.
