This add-on should go into the standard version of Thunderbird as soon as possible. It works fine (ver. 1.3.2) with Thunderbird 3.1.7 in an OpenSuse 11.3 64-bit installation. No interferences with other add-ons.

I am looking for a way to know in which subadressbook my contacts already are.
With this add-on, it is possible to compare contacts by using two tabs, but it is a lengthy and complicated task.
I would like to have an add-on that for exemple add a context menu to a specific contact allowing to select / unselect from a list to which subaddressbooks this contact belong.
Is that possible ?

Fantastic extension. Should definitely be an option by default in TB. Although, I do agree with Lance E Sloan about the icon. What would be really cool is if you could write the same type of extension for the "create a new message" tab.

I needed with feature as default in Thunderbird! You rocks!

Thank you for an excellent facility (perhaps it should have been there in the first place with all the swank of Tabs)
Could you write one to add columns to the address book display? It seems unbelievable in this day and age that information can be stored, e.g. Custom 1, and not displayed in tabular form with Name Email and so on.

Great extension, but I *HATE* the icon! Luckily I was able to open the extension and replace its icon with one from Apple's Address Book application.

The extension works very well, I just would love it, if it had a nicer icon. If you wish, I could make one for you.
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.3.2).Of course you can send me a new icon on the support site : http://pastisman-addons.goodforum.net/addressbooktab-f5/

Doesn't open a tab in Thunderbird/3.1.2

Quite a good add-on, but it doesn't work right when you also use Thunderbrowse. The addressbook buttons "New Contact, New List ..." then have no function. But because I like to work with AddressBookTab I have disabled Thunderbrowse. Would be great I could use both.
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.3.2).I'm currently rewriting the addon in order to introduce a new tab type specifically for addressbook. This improvement will probably solve a lot of interaction with other addons. I will test all reported trouble and try to solve them.

It works quite well. There's just one problem:
In TB3.1.2 with another AB extension called "More Functions for Address Book" part of that extension only works when the AB is opened in a separate window (the Edit Contacts Collectively dialog). So0 somewhere one of these use a conflicting code.
I've let the other extension's owner know.

Thank you pastisman, it's nice add-on. Where should i sent the russian language files? Nothing found on developer's site.
This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.3.2).Hi Gleba, thank you. You can post the translation for the addon (option, tooltip, description) and even for all the description here on AMO (including version notes) on the support site : http://pastisman-addons.goodforum.net/. I will include them in next version (which I work on).

Happy with this one!
Up to the next one, a button to open a new mail in a Tab instead of a new window!
A little suggestion for enhancement: would it be possible to make the text of the button changeable itself (currently "Addressbook Tab") and the popup text as well when hovering (currently "Addressbook in a new Tab") to your own language (e.g. a fill in field within "Options" where you can apply your own string)? Now I've a English button between other ones in my own language.
Feel free to give me all translation for the addon (options, tooltip, description,..) so I can include them in the package and you will have it by default in your own.
Please use support site to give me such informations.

This is what I thought I had been looking for years! At last! It promised to make Thunderbird with Lightning into a decent, fully functional PIM, a true competitor to all the others - but it just misses out.
Things don't always work as well as they do when you use the address book as a separate program - which is a real pity.
I hope Thunderbird developers really get behind this concept and develop a truly native implementation that addresses the few glitches - this would make Thunderbird a truly killer app!

This is what is missing in TB. Together with Lightning, this makes TB into a full features PIM. Having contacts in a separate tab beneath to mail and calendar is so much nicer.

This is SO good it should be part of the basic Thunderbird installation package! The only flaw (VERY minor) involves the Address book's menu bar when using the tab: depending on the skin being used, the menu items may appear greyed out even though they're active.

Meilleurs salutations
