I have been using Thunderbird for some time and like it very much and recently cardbook has many advantages over address book Thunderbird including printing the addresses the only downside is it is a little unclear with the birthdays to combine with calendar should be simpler and can not print a label list

A very useful addition to Thunderbird. It would be helpful in the "adding new contact" to have an expanded sort list for the time zones for locations in Canada; I may not be using it correctly but the drop down list just shows NORTH AMERICA and then I had to do alot of scrolling just to find two listings one for Creston ( I am assuming Creston, B.C. ) and Goose Bay (NFLD?). Perhaps there was a "sort" function I missed. I would rather have Canada, U.S. or U.S.A rather than NORTH AMERICA ....a little too broad.

I tried to add as remote address book in Thunderbird a google account using CardDAV and providing the CardDAV URL, the Google username and the password and fails validation. From Log Viewer:

I am using Thunderbird 102.12.0 (64-bit) on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS.

If I disable this add-on, using the CardDAV support that comes by default with Thunderbird, I can add the remote address book without problems.

Good morning,
So far this module looks pretty good to me. However, two essential functions are missing:
- efficiently and simply filter contacts,
- bulk edit/erase of any contact field (the function already exists in an embryonic state by copy/paste).

Bonjour

est ce que vous pourriez me détailler par mail (cardbook .thunderbird (at )gmail .com) comment vous envisageriez le 1/ ?
pour le 2/ vous devriez pouvoir faire avec la fonction de formatage des données

After some trouble the contact synchronisation with Synology Contacts works (Windows-Thunderbird, Synology DSM 7.2)! As stated in https://www.synology-forum.de/threads/carddav-pfad.74825/post-639259 instead of the URL given by Synology Contatcs for the Thunderbird-Synchronisation, I need to use only https://<serverName>:<Port>, not more. And a valid certificate for the <serverName> is required.

Very happy, great help for organizing many contacts and associated contact infos! Synchronizes nicely with Nextcloud, well integared in TB. If I may, one (small, but annoying) thing is that images of contact persons get distorted if they are not exactly the same height/width ratio.

As others have posted this add on no longer works with outlook.com or office365. No matter how many times you click validate it will just hang and never complete. Was working in the past but no longer after I had to create a new address book entry on a new system.

Works with Google and Yahoo contacts with no issues.

EDIT: Tested with developers 85.8 fix from Gitlab and worked perfectly once again with outlook.com. Thanks.

No longer seems to work with microsoft. Works fine with Google and iCloud contacts however. But no matter how many times I try and no matter how many times I re create an app password on (outlook.com, live.com, office365.com), I cannot get it to validate.

CardBook is a robust solution if you want to have CalDav and CardDav functionality centralized. I like Distribution Lists very much. Support via GitLab is great and responsive...

Thank You

If you're tired of waiting for Mozilla to add "reasonably functional" Address Book, then CardBook is the answer. It excels in every way and provides much greater capabilities and works well with CardDAV. You can also vote to have it replace Mozilla's built-in.

So much better than the built-in CardDAV support. If you have any need for more than the basics (i.e. support for contact groups), this is the add-on for you.

Great add-on. It was Cardbook that made me decide for Thunderbird.
Two wishes:
- a better cooperation with the Thunderbird Conversations add-on
- a possibility to decide about the font size. The fonts appear very small on my Linux computer.
Thanks to the developer.
