This is by far the best stock- and currency-tracking extension out there. But it causes Firefox 3 to crash often. I have also had problems with it effectively corrupting other add-ons to the point that I got a Mozilla error message when I tried to access Tools->Add-ons.

Please let me know when it has been fixed - I love this add-on, but I can't sacrifice my web browser for it.

Thanks!

I love this add-on except that it makes the browser crash randomly and frequently. I would definately use it again if this issue gets fixed

Great extension! :)

I have some usability suggestions here:
1) add an option that will allow user to specify the viewing length of stock ticker in status bar. The trailing part of output is being cropped off if data is too long.
2) add an option to display (i.e. popup) the entire portfolio showing today's market value after clicking on the status bar.
3) add hierarchical
structure that will allow us to categorize tickers (i.e. Tech, Precious, Future, etc.)

This tool is one of the best of its kind.. also for those who are complaining about 5 minutes update for the stock quotes ... that can be changed to 0.1 of a minute too so as to be updated regularly.
One suggestion for the plugin developer would be to make the default to a reasonable value like 0.5 or 0.2.

Delayed and inacurate quotes. Made FF crash when I tried to uninstall it.

hope i don't jinx things by saying everything seems to be working fine with FF3. i would like to be able to put the stocks in the order i want them though [w/out having to type them over again]. you know, maybe drag and drop them. and the Nasdaq should be a default like the dow, don't you think?

Really nice idea with the rotating quotes in the right bottom corner. But: I didn't get updated informations and Firefox crashed at least once because of the Add-On (that's what I think at least).

Seems like a good program, except it killed my bookmarks functionality and who knows what else in firefox. I uninstalled it before finding out what else this extension was screwing up.

This extension made my life hell with Firefox 3.0. My Firefox crashed a gazilllion times each day -- while I was typing e-mails, while I was filling in my project estimates, while I was applying for a day off from my job -- basically all the time. Uninstall this extension as the first thing after upgrading to Firefox 3.0.

My 3 thumbs down to StockTicker.

Good start but I had several problems: 1. Firefox crashes (never did before) 2. my toolbar disappeared as did my forward and back arrows.

I think it's great so far!

Except one FEATURE REQUEST:

You can right click and select "Hide this ticker" for the STATUS BAR, but not for the TOOLBAR.

Really, I'd rather see the status bar ticker, but NOT the toolbar ticker.

My FF3 has been crashing literally 10x a day... no exageration! I was actually about to throw FF3 out the window before I logically turned-off each Add-on one-by-one. Turned out it was this add-on that screwed up my FF3! Now I love FF again!

I have found the FIX to the Stop Updating BUG!

Set your "Rotate each stock every" to 0

That will keep your stock ticker updated.

Stalls after several minutes of updating. Have to click to edit and ok it to get it urnning again - for a few minutes. MAY be proxy related (local - WebWasher).

If i use this addon with Firefox 3 and the Splash-Screen addon, then my bookmark bar is blank.

1.0.4 has some memory leaks. After a couple of hours memory usage of the Firefox 2 process doubles..
Using 1.0.3 with the Nightly Tester Tools to override compatibility works fine for me.

To get this to work in FF3:
1. Download the version 1.0.4 from the download archives (Click on "See all Versions") by right clicking on the "Add to Firefox" icon and select "Save Link As..." and download the file to the desktop.
2. Change the extension of the file from xpi to zip.
3. Double-click on the zip file and drag the install.rdf file to the desktop. (Leave this window open)
4. Open install.rdf with notepad. Search for 2.0 and replace with 3.0 and save the file.
5. Drag the file from the desktop into the zip file and replace the original file.
6. Close the zip file window and change the extension from zip to xpi.
7. Double click on the xpi file to install in FF3.

This worked for me and hopefully for others. It did take 2 restarts before it started working, though. Update: Turns out that the quotes don't update automatically as in FF2. However, you can manually update the quotes.

while adding a new tab, firefox crashes frequently, and it is confirmed that after disabling it, not a single crash!

I want to give it 3.5 Stars. It would get 5, because it updates fast and doesn't seem to have a delay. The only problem is that it keeps freezing up on me and I have to manually refresh it. Hopefully their will be an update and I can give it the 5 stars it deserves.
