Is it possible to automate the extractor task ?

Attachment extractor : 1.4)
Thanks for your help !

P.S. I found a workaround: First I sorted my mails such that only those with attachments were on top. Then I selected them month by month, sometimes two months at once, and could delete attachments from these batches. It worked up to a max. of 62 selected messages.
It was inconvenient, but I could finally reduce my Sent folder from 3 GB on the hard drive to some 150 MB. Best would be if TB supported multiple messages with its own Extract/Delete Attachments dialogue.

As for many other users here, it doesn't really work (macOS, TB 91.9.1). I want to DELETE attachments from hundreds, possibly thousands of emails from my Sent folder (on my local drive, no IMAP). As soon as I select more than ca. 50 or so messages, AE either does nothing (with also no error message) or crashes TB.

The plugin deleted all attachments from my selected mails. It was in IMAP (Web version of Gmail, deleted attachments too) How to retrieve them ? It's dangerous to use this plugin

When I extracted the attachment to the desktop, all the files that were on the desktop disappeared.
They are no longer visible even after data recovery.
Please help if you can.

Works a treat!
Despite some other reviews, this worked perfectly for me (I'm using version 91.7.0)
There is some room for improvement (e.g. if the list of attachments is too long, the 'OK' or 'Cancel' buttons fall off the end of the screen and you can't access them. This is easily remedied by selecting no more than about 30 mails at once. The add-on gives you the option of deleting the attachment from the mail or not, so there's no fear of losing data if you want the attachment retained in your mails.

As commented before, it is not perfect, but I am glad someone picked up the torch and is at least attempting to keep something available.

This is still not the old perfect version, but having someone that work on it so we can keep on using this wonderful tool is priceless !!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH !

This is ridiculous !
This addon tried to REMOVE (detache) attachments from the selected emails !!!!
How can one imagine this is useful, let alone set this as default behaviour of the software ?!?
I *don't* want to detach attached files from emails, I want to save them on disk, in bulk if possible.

Trying to bulk extract the attachments, this addon duplicates the email with the attachment in place. Unfortunately this is not what I expected.

This Attachment Extractor addon gives an error message. Is there any way of contacting the developer to report the message?
I echo the sentiment of the other reviewers missing the original Attachment Extractor (or the Continued version) and have a separate installation of Thunderbird v68 that still runs that addon.

I appreciate the effort behind such developments. Unfortunately, the add-on is of no use to me - the attachments are all saved as defective PDFs (several test runs; fortunately tested before serious use!). In addition, the shortcut link that TB creates when separating with on-board resources would not work here... too bad

The original AttachmentExtractor was far more better because it extracted automatically and save it into a folder one could define.
This one is just a little more than the default of TB.

The tool deletes attachmants without asking and duplicates the email (sometimes!). Why?.. I selected 15 emails and 23 (15 original emails + 8 duplicates).

When I chose for deleting the attachment, your program duplicates the mail of the deleted file. The duplicate is again with attachment. Am I doing something wrong?

It would be just perfect if it worked with RSS feed attachments, which it does not (it returns a text file with an error). Thunderbird is m! :issing such a product righht now! :-(

Many thanks for this very useful add on. I do really need it to being able to remove the attachments in bulk.

The release 14 works with Thunderbird 91.2.0 if I select a few files to process. If I select all emails in a directory (>500 emails) it does not seem to work.
This is an important add-on that help us to keep the emails clean. It would be good to have the possibility to remove the attachments without storing on a disk (or store on a pre-defined directory). Thank you for your support.

It works, but not the way I'd like it to. I miss two simple, but really important features.
1. Detach attachments to folders named according to some e-mail parameter i.e. sender's address. At present every "\" in filename template is replaced with "-".
2. Set a default ("root") folder for detached attachments.

Unfortunately AttachmentExtractor Continued for TB91 can not be developed further, I look forward to the successor!
I would like to see the setting of a default directory.
